Chunnin Second Exam

The notices pinned to the board informed the participantd to meet by a specific meeting point near the east of the village after completing their test. Some who read the notice would proceed without alerting the others while others seemed to keep waiting around looking for something. Either way at the meeting place there was a single proctor who seemed to be a Division Jonin in the standard Nazogakure attire who waited patiently for people to arrive. This was a soft culling prior to the exam began as they were only accepting a set amount of genin before proceeding with the exam and those who arrived later could consider themselves to have failed.

Kotone didn't want to rush to Elias' side after the first exam, with the rush of people she wanted some more privacy. And likewise she didn't feel he might have wanted to talk just yet. They had worked so hard together to get here, and they could have plenty of time when they were celebrating. But it also seemed she was the first in to the field of the trio. She would absolutely make sure she was the first face her team saw though. As soon as she would see either, both even though the latter she would hope her friend would join her, she would throw her arms wide. "Jielko!" Once her partners were here, she would do the final preparation and bring the unofficial forth member. Placing a hand to her shoulder, she flooded the tattoo there, and in a 'bamf' of smoke, Thadie has joined them.

Iolana gave a nervous wave to Kotone, but the girl didn't seem to notice as she came in with a group either side of her. Though she stayed near the 'entrance' to wait for Kirai to catch up. And as soon as she did, she stepped right up and with a quick sign <"Sorry,"> she grabbed Kirai's hand, and squeezed. The crowds were just getting to her. But she also noticed old class mates didn't seem to be here anymore. Clearly knocked out from the exams. <"Can we do this? I'm kind of scared,">

Akira was among the last to enter. On purpose of course. He took the leisure route in order to scope out the competition. He honestly didn't know what was going to happen. He figured that Gado had passed the first stage, but he had been a fluid member of that time to fill in for a missing member to begin with. He registered solo at first, simply as he did not know who he might be working with for this test. It didn't matter though. His eyes trained, his jacket on, and his mask on hand and ready. He. Was. Ready.

"That test was a huge bummer, I'm glad it's finally over...."

Jin felt like he was getting a little cramped from sitting down too much, he preferred to keep his body moving and active at all times. At the very least, he and Kotone were finished with their exams. The only person left was Elias.

"Hey, Kotone. did you think that Elias was acting a little weird lately? I don't know what's going on with him, I'm actually more concerned about him than this exam. Did he not want to do it or something? Did you hear anything about him or did he tell you anything beforehand? I know that I've been away traveling for a few weeks, but  I still care about you guys. I didn't betray you or anything, so I was hoping that you guys would open up if something happened while I was gone."

As the leader, this was something that Jin wanted to prepare for and address. If he couldn't do this, he couldn't handle the mantle of being the head of Jielko.

"What should I do for this particular event?"

Gado was already thinking about his next move before he saw Akira. Well, he didn't really see Akira. It was just that Akira's scent got picked up in Gado's nose and caused him to walk a little quicker to catch up to him.

"From your mannerisms, it looked like you were taking this on your own. This makes sense, I'm only doing this because I didn't want to be left behind. I didn't know you were taking it too...."

Elias would walk out the room rather slowly as he approached his team. These two are like siblings to him and he figured that they must be worried. In turn he may have become a bit of a distraction for his team and for that he felt apologetic. He’d walk up to them both only hearing a bit of what Jinnouchi was saying about him. He’d then place a hand on both their shoulders and after a moment he’d let out a smile. ”Don’t worry, I’m still all in . Last night was strange, I had a long talk with my parents. They told me some things about the family and it’s just got me in an odd place. I wouldn’t lie to you two so I can’t promise it’ll be ok, but I can use the distraction. Let’s win.” He’d then place his fist in the middle and wait for the other two to bump it. After that’s done he’d just follow Kotone and jin  as they prepare for their prodigy exams.

Taigakai got out of the exam room, passing a glance at another person who seemed to create frost by existing. He waited outside for Seiko and Mei, surely they didn't go ahead right? He'd be chancing his entry if they did. He figured he'd give a couple minutes before heading off just to try and secure a spot for the second exam.

Seiko had been waiting off to the side and once she noticed that Taigakai had completed the exam and left, she stepped up beside her cousin and gave him a nod. "Come, let's move along now. Mei will be just behind us I am sure. I trust her to be on time, unlike someone." She teased, a coy smile on her features as she turned and waved for Taigakai to follow her. As they moved, she took note of the people looking confident in their exams and those that seemed especially distraught. They were the main targets for removal, arrogance and a complete lack of confidence were useless for a shinobi after all. Once they reached the place, she was glad to reach the next zone in a short amount of time and made sure to choose a place for their team, close to the proctor but not too close, didn't want to seem too eager and make them a target after all.

For her part, Kirai moved carefully through the crowds, brushing up against some people only to keep the illusion that she was properly blind. Then a familiar shape grabbed her hand and she let a wave of relief wash over her alongside a sigh. She squeezed Iolana's hand back and gave her a smile. She scrunched her face up and slowly and carefully signed back to Iolana although it was far slower than the girl's own. <"We'll be fine, we've got each other, nothing can stop us. Didn't see Chiyome though, did you?"> With that done she pricked her ears up and stared diagonally, only just watching Iolana's hand so she could see what the girl signed.

“Hm, I wonder what’s going to happen next.” Diana said out loud as she waited on the second part of the exams to continue. Her black hues would slowly scan the crowd trying her best to analyze the different teams like Zhao said. The only problem was that she was nothing like him and thus she didn’t really gain much besides the fact that there was some super muscular dude participating in this year’s exams. Was he a kid or an adult? Either way, he was super scary. “How are you guys feeling so far? Excited? Anxious? Nervous? All of the above?” She asked as she was feeling all sorts of emotions at once.

Indra arrived at the next meeting spot and instinctively placed his hand on the hilt of his katana. He tapped a finger on his chin as he gazed across the other competitors. His mind was still on the written exam he had just left behind. Had he answered the last question correctly? Was he even really supposed to be here? Did he honestly belong? He sighed, only time would tell. As he watched the others, he noticed some stood off to one side alone, seemingly waiting for something or someone else. Meanwhile others chatted among themselves, clearly friends from previous encounters. He frowned, realizing there was no one here he recognized. The strange girls he had trained with previously didn't seem to have made it to the new meeting spot yet. Settling with being alone, Indra kept to himself off on the edge, doing his best to make sure his back wasn't turned to any of the others as his mother had always instructed him to do.

Indra strolled in directly behind diana listening to each word she spoke until she paused for a moment in shock of the muscular-looking Kid “I am not fighting him!” she started pointing to him as Diana spoke “Yeah I’m feeling a bit anxious, cause if I have to fight him and he sits on me I’m going to kill him!” she mumble low enough so her team could hear exactly what she said. It was more than obvious Indra was trying to hide her anger and frustration of how she really felt, but that energy wasn’t needed right now.

Auri would walk to the meeting place not to early but not to late, all things considered she got there perfectly on time and promptly faded into the background like the mediocre kunoichi she was. However she realized just then that this was a sort of thing that people tended to do in a group and thus she would scour the exam room for people to join up with. She wouldn't find any group that didn't already seem to have people until she spotted Indra standing alone and looking somewhat lost. She sighed as it was just her luck and she would make her way over to him before stopping when she was right next to him while pretending to check her supplies. "Crazy weather we're having here right?" Auri said casually hoping he would get the joke and not instead hit her with something obvious like "But we're indoors?" or something mundane like "Uh huh".

Praise had decided to grab a quick bite to eat before heading to the meet up location as she hadn't eaten breakfast and that was no way to start an exam that could quite possible risk her life. Thus she strolled in a bit after her teammates and still chewing on the kebab she bought from a cart within the village proper. "Hehe this is it the second part of the exams it's time to really show what we can do! You two ready? she said when she got closer to Diana and Indra flashing a feral grin at the latter before reaching out and attempting to poke her in the forehead fot what she did in the exam hall. "You idiot next time if you wanna sabotage do it in a way that doesn't reveal what you can do." she said her eyes narrowing slightly before she let out a huff and sidled up next to Diana to cool her temper.

Taliah watched her teammates from a distance, warily. She felt the fear creeping up her spine, and the link between her and Raja meant the Jebia felt it too. Taliah was riding on her back, her cloak pulled tight around her body. Raja's tail curled up and caressed her back as gently as the creature could manage 'They'll hate me, Raja. They'll turn their backs on me for good...' There was a soft rattling of chitin that might seem a threat to anyone else, but to Taliah it was a comfort "Even if that is true, you'll have me."

Without consulting her, the Jebia moved closer to Iolana and Kirai. It made as much noise as possible so as to alert the other two of their presence, before nudging Taliah softly with her tail. Taliah opened her cloak so that they could see her clearly, speaking and signing so they would understand her <"Iolana, Kirai. My name is Taliah-Al-Zalam and we're...we should talk...">

Once everyone was together, there was a bit of a commotion and the proctors spoke amongst themselves before they needed. Two of them split off, grabbed two different Genin and took them to a pair of teams.

Gado and Akira were met by a particularly large Chunin Instructor, looking as though he was going to burst out of his flak jacket at any moment. The Instructor nodded at them before leaving them with a young looking boy. He dusted himself down and then nodded at the two of them. "Hi there! I'm Alenko, I've been assigned to your team for the next section as the rest of my team wasn't available for these exams." With that he gave a grin and held his hand out to each of them in turn, hoping he'd get a handshake.

The next Instructor, a willowy woman with only her eyes on show, wandered over to Auri and Indra and dropped off another Genin before wandering away once more. The genin was older, around eighteen, and she looked impeccably dressed, the buttons on her coat were even made of gold. She had a sword on her hip and gave a low bow to Auri and Indra. "Good day! I am Elisabette Lavarre Von Sylia. A samurai of some renown, surely you have both heard of me? What are your names?"

It wasn't long after that that the next objective was given out. A young woman stepped up and shouted out.

"The next part of the Chunin Exams, now that the slow and tardy have been weeded out is an Obstacle Course! This will be a competitive course! Two teams will be called up and will run the course at the same time, getting to the end is the goal but sabotaging one another is not only allowed, it is encouraged! The first teams up are..."

As she pulled out a piece of paper from a random pocket, the rest of the proctors and some assistance performed jutsu in the background, setting up massive obstacle courses, both identical.

"...Jinnouchi, Elias, Kotone against Marek, Juliana and Momo. Base rules, falling outside of the course is disqualification, flight is banned as is teleportation. Other than that, deal with the obstacles as you see fit! Both teams, move to starting positions."

The three particularly strange figures seen lurking outside of the first exam hall were the ones that moved up to one of the Courses. Juliana in particular, the wild looking woman that simply exuded frost, walked past Jinnouchi and slammed her shoulder into his side, giving him a feral grin and running her thumb across her throat as she did it before jogging to catch up to her team.

<"No. I haven't. I'm a little scared."> Iolana felt her heart drop as she was asked that question, and immediately began to look around frantically. She wanted to feel she could do this, but her best friend wasn't here. And the overflowing thoughts and struggles were getting harder and harder to deal with. And without meaning she was beginning to shiver, sparking her Sol Fire and causing a little ash to start to rain around her. Her hand squeezes Kirai's tighter. Then the noise, and her fear grew because someone was just walking right up to this. She only froze when the mystery person began to sign. Once more the rarity of someone who could was enough to at least get her to pay attention. Instinctively she stepped slightly behind Kirai. Too many new people was one thing, a stranger approaching who apparently already knew them, that was something completely different. But then she had to take control, stop being so afraid. And with all she had been through, there was only one trail she could follow. <"Is... Is that some stupid joke! I outta kick you in the dick! I can talk just fine!"> It was a much more natural reply than she thought, enough that she didn't even register that they spoke in signs so it wasn't as likely they were mocking her as she was learned to expect.

Akira was actually quite happy to see Gado, and that they would be working together again from the looks of things. They hadn't quite got as much training in as he might've liked, to better learn each other's styles, but then again Akira knew his own style was rather independent but also adaptive to his own allies. "I've just been doing some personal training. If I'm honest I didn't really think much of your team and my place in it. I was a fill in to begin with after all, and if memory servers, we all had rather different goals. I wasn't really sure if I should have really still been a part. However what has not changed is you have my full focus and my name as a Phantom Thief that we shall get through this challenge." He was half through his long speel when the proctors dropped someone else off with them. It seemed Akira's belief that Kozzen wasn't with them anymore was true. "Alenko, a fine name. My name is Akira, and it's a pleasure. But may I ask, what are you bringing to this little menagerie?" He was happy to shake the hand though. "I feel I must ask so I can be more aware of just what sort of combat we have access to,"

"What team? It's like anybody who I try to make friends with ends up running off on me. I don't even know what happened to them, if they weren't missing or whatever. I understand that you don't owe me anything, I wasn't asking. I won't beg either, but if it was ever "me" being the problem, I hope you would tell me before walking off. "

It was something he struggled with, he didn't know where any of his original team members went. One by one, they end up dropping off. In addition to that, they never felt like they had to tell Gado anything. He ended up making friends with that turtle before he could keep the ones who can actually talk back to him.

"I guess we will see just how reliable I am here....and.... you don't have to make any promises you don't have to keep. This exam is important to you, I'll help you pass so you can achieve your dreams. I won't be mad if you forgot about me afterwa-"

But before he could finish, Gado saw the humongous muscular Chunin instructor appear. He stood upright immediately, initially thinking he got in trouble or something. Suddenly, a new Genin was left with them.

"Alenko? Gado....  But... if we are talking stragety, can we do it privately? Do you both consent? Think about that before you shake my hand.I'm not being mean, I'm...trying to...accomodate you. You'll understand..."

He could force it, but it left a bad impression last time.

After that group left another paper was pulled out with another set of names being called out so that the exam could continue to move smoothly. "Auri Gonbei, Indra E. Taki & Elisabette Lavarre Von Sylia. the instructor would point to another exit once they proceeded he would look at one of the other instructors to see whether or not to continue but it seemed like for now it would be two teams at a time.

Mei didn't notice her lateness, she just walked in to the gathering like she belonged and it seemed she was believed to have been here all along too. This meant it was that much easier to step up to the two related members of her team. "How do you think we are looking in comparison?" The Suisho felt ready at least, and her faith in her team was high. At least they weren't being paired with unknowns. That might have made things awkward.

"We're looking quite fine, Mei. Some of the other teams are looking decent as well but... We've ever been unassuming. None of our clan traits are really on display which is good as that might give the game away to others, be sure to look out for such aspects on other people so we can get an edge on them." She smiled to Mei and then let out a soft breath.

"It's always the waiting that I hate. I'm a patient girl but even so... Ah well, I hope the other teams do something interesting, maybe get some blood flying, would alleviate the boredom." She laughed quietly, covering her mouth in an effort to be polite as she done so. She'd long since excised fear so anxiety didn't bother her anymore.

As the person and their strange... Creature, was it a scorpion? Moved closer to Kirai and Iolana, the young girl instinctively pushed the weaponkin behind her and took up a ready stance, twin kunai falling into her grip. "Get talking and fast before we have a death outside of the exams." Kirai hissed, her hands currently full and thus not able to contribute with the signing. Her body was tense and her mouth was dry, she was focused intently on this strange person and what they were going to do. The signing was definitely strange, it wasn't too common and it had taken Kirai ages to get even semi-fluent with it. Not to mention that Chiyome was nowhere to be seen... Was this girl a replacement? Had something happened to Chiyo?

Wow, Seiko showing emotion? Either way, Taigakai seemed about as chill as ever. "If anything, we're probably in the middle.", he said. He wasn't as bloodthirsty as Seiko, but he was hoping he could at least scrape by and not have to embarrass the team or his family by failing or something.

Akira just began to grin and clapped Gado over the shoulder. "I can promise you. I was a fluid part of the team in my mind, if I knew I was to be a little more permanent, I would've told you I was going off to perfect some techniques. Which... speaking of which." He stepped up, throwing an arm around his friend's shoulder and standing pressed in to his side. "I've trained myself to observe. Every single person in this room, I've picked up something about them. Like did you know we have a lot of Erlang clan members who've passed the first stage? Like... really a lot." He then took no time in meeting his friend's hand with his own. He had complete trust in him. He didn't trust Alenko much honestly, and that was why had had turned his attention to the boy to grasp as much information as possible.

Taliah's sight zoned in on their movements, the way Kirai pushed Iolana behind her and took up an offensive stance, the look of outrage on the Fushicho's face "Raja, this is wrong, wrong, wrong. Everything is wrong, they're going to attack I can tell! I have to-" The tail came up and wrapped loosely around Taliah's midriff, calming her gently as a soothing feeling rushed through their bond. She was filled with a feeling that she was being silly, no doubt from Raja, and pushed forward with what she was saying < I know you can talk, that was a poor choice of words. I apologize. We have something to discuss. >

She would've taken a breath at this moment, if she breathed, but instead it was just a pause before she continued on with her signing < I should start by saying that Chiyo isn't real. Well she is, but she's not your teammate. I was... > Her hands faltered on the signing,  so she started again < I was scared. Meeting others scares me. So a friend of mine helped me get out of the team meeting, switched around some things and went for me. We were found out though and I was made to come here. So...yes. I'm your actual third. Taliah. >

<"Chiyo... isn't..."> Lana's hands were sloppy, slow, clearly unsure of even those. She felt her legs tremble, and her weight falling that little more against Kirai. She had dropped her guard. If there was one thing she had learned from her time with Chiyo it had been to try to trust more. And she could see fear. It was far too obvious a look she had seen in herself in the mirror. <"She was my friend."> Her signs were still slow and deliberate, trying to think about what she wanted to say. <"I'm upset. I was lied to by someone I loved and trusted. I don't trust you. But we're in an exam. Just don't expect me to be happy with you."> She thought about just leaving it there, but 'speak your mind' was another lesson she was still learning to act on, and her signs suddenly began to show her inner anger. <"You think you're scared? I've been attacked because I can't speak, Kirai because she was a victim. We're all scared! I'm terrified right now. So many strong people, I'm constantly scared they are going to pick on me in the middle of an exam and they can attack me and they will be promoted for it. I trust my friends. I trust Kirai, and I trusted Chiyo, who seems to have lied to me."> A deep breath, and her hands softened, as did her expression. <"So let's work towards trusting eachother. OK?"> And once more for support, she squeezed Kirai's hand.

Another proctor would come in before looking at the area and frown before clearing his voice so that the chatter died down a bit more. "Gado Kurogane, Akira I. Kurusu & Alenko please proceed into that entrance. Kirai D. Erlang, Iolana Fushicho & Taliah-Al-Zalam please proceed through this entrance. We apologize for the delay, but so far everything is going according to schedule to allow representatives from the Daimyo's Guardian Shinobi to be able to watch the preliminaries. the proctor explained before looking to see which teams he had not mentioned yet. He would spy the likes of Praise K. Fantom, Diana I. Erlang and Indra Kukinorite, as well as Seiko Rikigaku, Mei E. Suisho and Taigakai K. Toketsu. Deciding to get them out of the way as they did have another entrance he would call out the names of the latter group and send them on their way as well.

"Ugh...this is annoying we are seeming like the last ones to go." Praise said looking at Diana and Indra with a frown as she noticed everyone's names got called but there own. Sure it wasn't like she wanted to go first but at the very least middle of the pack and not last, it was as if they were setting her up or something. Or perhaps her proctor was just running late or something not that they were going to try and make the exams extra hard for just her. Because that would really suck and it couldn't be like that. Still it would make her once more check her equipment she was thankful she had spared time to fill her flasks as she didn't know whether they would come in handy but in general having extra blood was always good.

Akira grinned wide, throwing his arms around Gado and the newbie to the group. "Well, I guess that's us my fine fashio- ... well I look good at least, right?" He playfully nudged them both, bump bump, with his hip, one at a time. He did one final check of his gear, brushing down the front of his mask and rubbing a thumb over the seal that connected to his puppets. "It's time to break some hearts," He was about to slip his mask in to place, but realised that perhaps he should be a bit more careful. Instead he elected to adjust his hat, flipping up the collar of his coat, and stepping forwards with confident steps.

Iolana looked over as she heard her groups' names called. All before they could probably speak. That's just how it was she supposed. With a deep breath, she closed her eyes and let her body shift. Secrets were great, and they had planned for events. Not knowing what they were facing, it made sense to be cautious. She had also learned not to throw herself at Kirai, so instead she would just switch up to her feathered cloak form and fall over Kirai's arm. Taliah might've been her partner now too, but she was new to the group. They wouldn't have as strong a bond between their souls as the mute and the blind. And at least one perk; Kirai would get a second layer of sight once she let the bond meet, and they could much more easily communicate.
