Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2 Empty
PostSubject: Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2   Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2 Icon_minitime25th May 2020, 10:32 am

The participants of the fight would be herded into metal boxes that had no windows or any way to look out of them, in fact they even seemed to shut off additional forms of sensory. The boxes were then lifted up and carried away to the fighting stage.

As the boxes hovered above the battlefield, a series of small messages would appear on the inside of the box in glowing blue font that spelled out what exactly was happening.

"You will be placed on a platform next to another individual. That is the person you are teamed with. The Finals are Cross-Team Doubles. Defeat the opposing team to win the round. Wins grant 2 points, Draws grant 1 point to each team, Losses count as 0 points. Battle starts in 5..."

The number then counted down, when it hit zero the first four combatants would drop onto the battlefield. The battlefield itself was a flat plain of packed sand with large cracks running through it. A massive orb gleamed overhead, scorching any that stood under it, more than likely instantly making every combatant start sweating.

Taigakai and Akira were dropped next to one another on the south of the battlefield, the sand crackling and crunching under them, it wouldn't be too difficult to move but it would sap a lot of strength.

The second pair of boxes, one hundred feet ahead, dropped off Seiko and Indra Kukinorite, the earth crunching under them just like the other team.

A klaxon then sounded out across the field, signalling the start of the first fight.

PostSubject: Re: Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2   Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2 Icon_minitime25th May 2020, 4:18 pm

Admittedly, it was super uncomfortable being in a metal box but it was honestly much more preferable than what Taigakai would get dropped into. He was met with a bright light and heat, something that was supposed to be the sun blaring in the middle. He landed on something that felt hard but not quite strong. Looking down it was sandstone or compacted dried sand. What a hazard. Honestly, this whole exam was unfavourable and he bit his lip as he hissed out a sigh.

A look around and things got really unfavourable. On the other side of the field was Seiko. Knowing her, she'd pike him immediately. He looked over at who his partner in crimes was. Thankfully they were a familiar face. "Akira! Long time, no see!" He walked over, feeling each step out and figuring energy conservation would be important, which... knowing how things were going to go, pretty impossible. He kept an eye on the two at the other side while he grouped up with Akira, closing in to have a more private conversation so any sound din't travel over there. "I don't know much about that other one but I know enough about Seiko. She likes to bury herself underground sometimes while her golems are either doing the work or distracting the opponent.", he said. He knew Seiko was flexible enough to not do that if she didn't have reason to, but a warning was fair game right now.

For additional preparation, Taigakai closed his eyes for a brief moment, using a D-rank of chakra to activate his Gekigan. It didn't appear to change his appearance too much, only his eyes turning from an icy blue to a dull stormy steel-blue. This should be find for the time being where it was at. Not like he tried to push further than this before anyways.

The issue is he's never seen Akira fight really, and this just meant they'd have to wing out their teamwork. He had a feeling Seiko would waste no time in attacking, unless she set something up to force them to make the first move. "So what's the plan, super-chief?"

Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2   Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2 Icon_minitime26th May 2020, 7:46 am

Stepping in to the box Akira felt nothing but calm. He thought he had done well in the past two tests, showed off his skills at analysis and problem solving. He was never one for an outright fight, and he knew he was going to be going in to this at a disadvantage. But he could work with that. His goal was spot the most dangerous opponent and ensure they are not as dangerous. He sat down, legs crossed, and not caring much that when the walls rose again his leather skirt was just a little risen up. The lack of sensory was also rather interesting, he knew his spirits were around him still, and yet he could not contact them. It was eerily peaceful. He was not a fan.

He never read the rules on the box. Too focused on himself and making his plots and thinking over everything he had used so far. Last he saw not many were 'eliminated' so there was a change he would be working with Gado once again. So when the field was revealed and he saw neither, well it was a surprise. Being addressed first he turned and smiled at his partner for the round. "Ah! Taigakai! What a pleasant surprise." He climbed to his feet, albeit with Kaen appearing just to assist with pulling him up. He looked across and a slight grin formed. "So, we're facing your... cousin, was it? Either way, I haven't met the other she is working with, but that isn't too difficult. Burying herself underground though is actually a rather strong counter to my own tactics. I'm an analysis and ambush sort. My skills aren't the best in outright fights. Not to say I can't hold my own." He dug in to his coat pocket and produced his Mask, slipping it to his face. "If you lose track of me, please don't worry. I'll be around and providing support. I'll likely be... hrm... around ten feet from Arsene." A bluff, when he had a larger range of control. And on queue he summoned his main puppet to his side, and like a mirror image, he and his puppet flexed and stretched. "And thankfully, this is a two on two. I can track two targets at a time, but if Seiko is going to bury herself underground, that might make that difficult." All set, he let his Heart Taker style kick in to effect, eyes trained upon both opponents. Already he was beginning to think this might be the round he needed to Unity with Kaen.

Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2   Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2 Icon_minitime29th May 2020, 5:55 pm

Seiko went quite willingly into her box, humming quietly as the wall was put back in place, leaving her in darkness within the metal coffin. She could feel it moving into position but she just sat there, a small smile sitting on her lips. She didn't even know what fear was anymore, she had excised it quite a while ago now and with it, most of her anxiety went away too, why worry about things after all?

After a few minutes, the instructions appeared and she read them swiftly before nodding. It would seem she was going to be teamed up with someone she didn't know and would be made to fight other teams. This was going to be more interesting than she first thought.

Then the floor under her dropped away and calmly moved her hands down, pressing her skirt down so it didn't flare up as she fell. The air around her almost seemed to shiver and vibrate with the latent heat and immediately drops of sweat appeared on her face. She wiped them away with the back of her hand and turned to look at her ally.

"I am Seiko. I specialise in disabling and locking down opponents, usually via travelling underground. I am also able to utilise Golems which I use to supplement my more open combat abilities. I will be moving underground and towards the opponents before attempting to drag at least one of them under. I trust that you will back up my efforts and I will assist yours." She nodded to Indra, keeping her voice low so that only the pair of them would hear. Then she finally turned to look at her foes, her smile spreading.

"One of them is Taigakai, my cousin. Kaironokuma and Toketsu, utilises a large amount of area of effect and terrain alteration abilities. I suggest that you attack Akira, I do not know much about them but I know they are vigilant, Take care, try and end the fight quickly. I shall remove Taigakai from the equation and then move in to support you. If you must, play defensively and tap your foot on the ground three times in rapid succession and I will know to send a Golem or Sentinel towards you."

With her brief done, Seiko performed a series of hand-seals before spinning around and vanishing into the earth and away from the blazing heat of the sun-orb. Once under she reached into the earth around her, willing it to shift and speak to her and then summoned her Golem, a Hexa Chassis that she quickly applied both earth and lightning chakra to with a touch, additionally drawing out a large drive from her own body as well as a pair of cores which she slotted into place. It shuddered and then turned to move away. Seiko took hold of one of the spokes on its back as the Golem shot off like a missile towards both of her opponents.

However she was specifically targeting the vibrations she knew came from her cousin and once she was about ten feet away, she started with a simple technique to get him dodging. All of a sudden four triangles of earth would erupt from the ground to try and close around Taigakai and leave him trapped in the dark.

OOC: Occassionally I'll post for Haio.

Indra was sort of rethinking this whole thing she hadn't been able to really participate during the exams and didn't really know how she had gotten this far so when Seiko was talking to her she would just sigh and shrug as that was all she really could do. "Sure, I guess I'll do my best." she said before jumping into the air before making a Co-Ordinate Cube to stand on and then waiting to see what would go on through this fight. In order to make a bit more effort Indra's shadow would manifest around her revealing an indistinct shape as she hadn't solidified her particular shadow just yet as she was still unsure in life, still it was menacing enough to slowly start to intimidate her enemies.

"Not that much of a problem. Seiko can't really hide from meEeEeEeEEEEE-", Taigakai's voice grew a bit panicked as he saw Seiko rocketing her golem straight towards them. No, rather she was making it go straight towards him. She slipped into the ground, just like he knew she would. She only used one golem, and it was one of her stronger ones, so there's a good chance that she only intended to really use this one. Taigakai slipped out of the sash that kept his gourd on his back, giving Seiko some kind of hint that he was still there, and then tried to quickly use his gourd as a point to jump off into the air at C-rank speeds from and hopefully not get hit by that humanoid monster truck racing its way towards him. While in the air, he'd draw from his gourd the metal snow and compacted them into snowballs, throwing one after another at the Golem. He knew that he couldn't stay in the air forever but if he could avoid getting pinned in and trapped while an oncoming freight train of a golem barreling his way just to turn him into jam.

The thought alone just wasn't something that made you feel great. At least one thing Seiko didn't seem to be aware of was heat signatures she'd give off. The sun object in the middle was a violent white but Seiko's body in the ground ws a different colour that the rest of the area around her. It's kind of funny how much heat eyes gave off. If his initial jump was successful to avoid the trap, Taigakai would make sure his movements were as erratic as he could make them. Though, considering how fast Seiko's toys were, his best bet was to get on one and hope she didn't notice. Haha, she'd probably notice. ...Most likely. At least that was something he could try to do for now. There was also that fresh face to deal with, just standing there.... Menacingly.

Akira was noting as much as he could from the scene as quickly as he could. "Seiko's underground, kinda ruins my whole 'observation' method. That's fine, the other one's pretty out in the open so let's get to work. ... An Inkan? Interesting. I'll need to keep my eyes on them. Very interesting style though, I might have to get some tips once we're over." Cracking his neck silently, he stealthed his way ever closer with his Mask keeping his presence hidden. Time to remove someone. With a prep of his dagger, he let the shadowy daggers fly from Le Mat to stab into Indra's shadow from behind, electing the full usage. Without A++ strength, or B++ Strength and Endurance chain, she would find herself completely immobilised. As far she would be aware, she would be suddenly frozen, and Akira would continue to move, not staying in one place too long and make it even harder to see and remove the daggers herself. And to better establish the distractions, Akira  had Arsene return to the picture from the opposite side, having always stayed on the very edge of his area of control, and raised it's arm, fingers clicking and unlocking, before a flurry of poisoned senbons were firing at Indra. His goal was to get Seiko above ground again, where he and Taigakai could properly deal with her. He just had to hope Taigakai could hold off the golem long enough.

A thump, another object on the ground, heavy vibrations coming from it and then nothing, no attempt to dodge. Seiko and her golem moved underground a bit more just before the snowballs hit the ground releasing more vibrations but ultimately doing nothing to her. Seiko then moved up on the back of her Golem and popped her head out of the ground, noticing Taigakai in the air and Indra getting teamed up on. It was time to do what she did best.

Seiko let go of her Golem which immediately shot back towards Indra at S-Rank speeds before leaping out of the ground just behind Seiko's teammate. Raising one arm, the senbon bounced off the Golem's arm doing nothing and then it swung its fist down, annihilating the shadow daggers holding Indra in place, if she didn't dodge them, before disappearing underground once more.

For Seiko's part she held her hand out of the ground and released a burst of lightning chakra to try and blind Taigakai before her other hand came up and dropped a large, sparking cylinder of metal and blue energy on the ground. She then disappeared under once more.

The Activated Drive suddenly surged with energy, turning into one of Seiko's Sentinels before it dashed forwards as Taigakai fell to swing its blade through one of his arms, if successful it'd lead to a nasty burn and possibly even stunning him if his body's fortitude wasn't great enough. With that done, Seiko hummed quietly and moved further back towards the middle of the battlefield, ready to aid Indra once more or take down Taigakai if he tried anything fancy.

PostSubject: Re: Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2   Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2 Icon_minitime8th July 2020, 8:56 pm

Indra positioned herself in the sky so she could get a nice bird's eye view of the fight and also so that she could rapidly begin siphoning wind materia into her AT's. Still that didn't mean she was a sitting duck and thus when she saw an airborne target she she would start skating woth a quick Bounce to get herself even higher in the air. It was useful that her Shadow had manifested as due to her trick usage it would contort itself and follow after her avoiding being pierced by the thrown daggers which had been aimed at it. After all it was no longer the usual shadow possessed by someone but a medium for her road to express itself and thus wasn't limited to being visible on the ground or any other surface her body blocked light on.

Her Bounce would send her an extra foot into the air and she relied on her Wing Principle to allow her to skate on the very air to give her the additional height she needed to become more of a threat. It seemed her teammate was pretty skilled and she didn't want to hold her back by being dead weight as such she knew if she got high enough then they wouldn't be able to target her nor would Seiko have to split her focus to protect her. She recognized her lack of training for what it was and hopefully when this exam was over with she would rectify it though she put most of the blame on their crappy sensei. Still she needed to stall a bit longer before she could really make some moves.

Taigakai watched as Seiko peeked out from her hiding spot. To his surprise, she sent her golem after her teammate to protect them from Akira. A bright flash later and things were hard to see, even with his modified eyesight. The next thing he knew is that his arm was hit by something, likely one of Seiko’s golems. He motioned to reach and grab the thing, guessing from where it hit. While it was still a robot, he could still try to do damage to it.

He wasn’t sure where the cores of these things were and it really didn’t help that he wasn’t able to see either. Though, Seiko’s golems were always trouble and somehow he knew that she was really using them to have him waste his energy on them instead of her. He bit on his lip as he quietly cursed that he was going to waste chakra on this, but he justified it enough that it was necessary.

If he was successful at grabbing onto the sentinel, he unleashed a series of kicks with ice and snow chipping off his legs onto the Sentinel’s side and back. Hopefully that would do something. Probably not.

Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2   Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2 Icon_minitime3rd August 2020, 6:42 pm

Akira hadn't quite expected such a rapid and strong defence, and as such cut off Arsene from firing it's senbons the moment they were first being blocked. No point in wasting ammunition. He also just as quickly noticed his shadow daggers getting broken, but at least that was also done just as quickly so they could regenerate and be ready. But his tricks were getting that little shallower. Albeit his analysis was getting stronger. He really needed to up his game. He couldn't make a sound though, or he would give away his position and his Mask would be useless. Thankfully he didn't need to. Kaen was ready and waiting, and the two had worked together long enough that they understood the simplest non-verbal commands. He just threw his arm up, hand holding an imaginary ball. And then Kaen became that ball of spiritual energy. And with a wide grin, Akira performed the Unity. And suddenly, he was at his peak performance. Now he was tracking the golems just fine as his new fox-like eyes darted about, afixing everything to memory he could. Including where Seiko had popped out. Indra was a problem for his current ambush, short range style, but Seiko was a huge danger. And he still needed that bit longer to really get that big golem out of the picture. Not much longer but still, time was ticking. He could defend against Indra, and he could defend against the golem, but he was going to struggle with the offence. With a boost from the Unity, Akira once more went on the offensive against Indra though a little more personally this time. He had Arsene begin to climb in flight, only to once more use it as a stepping stone to throw himself towards the flying foe at his concealed B-rank speed. He knew not to go for killing blows, but slashing across their shoulder would hopefully take them out of the combat, and with the time spent observing, he knew just the spot to get through anything with C-rank (though this would be B-rank by Indra's turn) defence piercing along side his B-rank speed strike.

PostSubject: Re: Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2   Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2 Icon_minitime4th August 2020, 7:12 pm

Seiko was already on the move as Taigakai attempted to grab the Sentinel. Unfortunately while he was fairly quick, the Sentinel was a core surrounded by a chakra shroud, it couldn't be grabbed. The strange soldier of lightning just jumped back and let Taigakai lash out at the air around him before it moved back in, slicing at Taigai's leg this time, specifically to get him to turn towards where the Sentinel was, although really it didn't matter.

This was due to the fact that once his kicks were done and both his legs hit the ground, a pair of hands erupted from the ground, grabbing his ankles and swiftly pulling him into the ground, he'd need a decent reaction tier to try and avoid it and considering the fact he was blind, it'd need to be attached to a different sense too. If Seiko was successful in pulling him underground and trapping him there, she'd gently grab his chin and whisper to him. "Stay down here or forfeit. You try anything fancy and I'll close the walls in on you. I need to go deal with your comrade now. You tried your best and I'm proud of you, Taigakai." She smiled and then swam away through the earth.

She poked her head out and looked around again, noticing Indra in the air but no sign of an opponent... Or attacks. That was until Akira suddenly appeared in the air near Indra. Interesting form of stealth, Seiko mused to herself, sending a mental command to her Golem. The machine hopped out of the earth, fingers digging into the stone before it before it heaved upwards, twisted its top half and threw a nearly building sized chunk of battlefield at Akira with its monstrous strength. It was likely going to hit Indra as well, the Golem was strong not accurate but if Indra could dodge Akira she could dodge the rock and if she couldn't dodge Akira then it wasn't really a problem.

PostSubject: Re: Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2   Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2 Icon_minitime6th August 2020, 4:51 pm

Indra was trying to stay out of the line of fire and help in a more supportive role but it seemed that their enemies wouldn't allow her to side on the sidelines. All of a sudden she wasn't alone in the sky and all she could do was utilize a Wing Trick to try and knock Akira away from her, Her AT's would whir and the gathered wind materia she collected would burst outward and hopefully send Akira flying away from her with wind backed by B-rank force. This means if Akira was able to leap into the air to such a height before he had a chance to wound Indra he would be knocked flying while Indra would merely apply her Wing Principle again to make more platforms so that she could hopefully out run Seiko's thrown rock. Though she was merely buying time as surely Akira would be hit by it before she would be not to mention by the time it got up to her she would hopefully have gathered enough wind materia to knock it right back to the ground.

It was only a brief moment after Taigakai touched the ground that he felt the ground soften before he was dragged into the ground just up to his neck. At least that's what it looked like before his body exploded into a puff of dust revealing a log sticking out of the hole Seiko probably would have buried Taigakai in.

He blinked a few times but it looked like he was able to see again. Seiko seemed more trained on Akira right now and scanned around for her since she was still likely in the ground. When he had an idea of where she was, he flashed through handseals and stepped to close in some distance with her, betting on her attention sticking to Akira. Taigakai's hands touched the ground and watching lightning crack and arc through stone aiming to at least catch Seiko off guard. He wasted no time after, generating a large amount of chakra enriched snow around the area that was difficult to see with normal eyes if at all. There was a noticeable chill in the air, which seemed to get even colder around where Taigakai was. He packed the snow into two snowballs, aiming one at where Seiko was and the other at the golem.

PostSubject: Re: Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2   Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2 Icon_minitime7th August 2020, 7:03 pm

Up close Akira attempted to swipe, but without Arsene literally at his side, something that would have given him away all too much, he couldn't quite reach. It just was not working out the way he wanted, his opponent was just too damn slippery, even for his abilities. He just couldn't get high enough. Deciding to just drop back down, his swipes at air having given him away as his Mask of Ren's ability cut out when he attempted, he came face to face with... a god damn rock! And honestly... Akira knew where he had fucked up. "Sorry Kaen," He muttered, bracing himself for the smash against his body. He had unsynced with his spirits before, but this was... this was an experience. He hadn't had the connection shattered like this before, as Kaen was forcibly ejected from his body by the amount of damage thrown his way. However once it was over, he tapped his mask to ensure it reactivated and dropped to the ground, dashing from the landing spot to ensure he wasn't be tracked again. This fight really did suck. Now Kaen was struggling to reform and wouldn't be able to before the end of the fight. So, he needed to work on slowing things down, biding his time. With the sentinel on the field now too, it just gave him another opponent to watch out for. If only he'd followed the traditional puppeteer style, maybe he'd be in a much better position. Rushing across the field he attempted to stab the shadow daggers from Le Mat down in to the golem's shadow to freeze it in to place using all three daggers again. He knew they could be broken by the larger golem, but it would still take up their time to deal with, and in the meanwhile would slow things down. Continuing on he rushed past Taigakai and whispered. "Call out direction if you see your cousin, I'll have Arsene unload some senbons on her hopefully." And then he was gone again, finding a little spot to continue to observe Indra and the Golem. He was going to find out exactly how to defeat the golem, and keep Indra from counterattacking.

PostSubject: Re: Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2   Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2 Icon_minitime8th August 2020, 6:52 pm

A series of ripples danced through the ground as Taigakai moved, keying Seiko in to exactly where he was coming from. She sent out a mental command as her Sentinel dashed forwards and slid past Taigakai, slashing his leg as it done so. When he sent electricity through the earth, the Sentinel slammed its blade down and crouched, absorbing the vast majority of the chakra that burst forwards, protecting Seiko who had moved to a section just behind the Sentinel.

Seiko's head was still above ground and she turned, watching the field. Akira reappeared throwing daggers at the Golem's shadow. Seiko hummed quietly and tapped the ground around her. Shackles would suddenly explode upwards from the ground to wrap around Akira's limbs and pull him down, for the moments they were firing up they moved incredibly fast, however if they hit him they'd rapidly darken in colour and become incredibly hard to break. The Golem didn't even seem to care about the Daggers as it leaped forwards, shattering their hold over the Golem and causing it to land behind Taigakai whereupon it spun, its hand opened and flat to slam into Taigakai's side and try and knock him out, it specifically weakened its blow so it wouldn't kill him or break too many things.

For her part, Seiko vanished under the ground again at C-Rank speeds, letting the snow slam into the ground above her and fade away. She might not have been able to see them but she could see Taigakai making throwing motions and that was dangerous enough as far as Seiko was concerned.

PostSubject: Re: Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2   Chunin Exam Finals: Round 1: Fight 2 Icon_minitime10th August 2020, 12:00 pm

Indra would remain in the air after using another co-ordinate cube to pick a stationary position where she knew she couldn't be attacked. To that end she was waiting to see of Seiko could handle both opponents while she merely waiting for her Shadow to do it's work. At this point she knew that she just needed to wait about the same amount of time as they had been fighting for the battle to be over. This was because eventually they would be so intimidated that they'd faint and even though she hadn't made the greatest contribution she'd be able to win. On the other hand she could use this fight to gather all the wind materia she would need for her other fights as ot would make her more effective in the long run which sje felt was a good strategy for the time being.

Taigakai  clicked his tongue and sighed as he saw the Sentinel absorb the electricity. Of course it would. Seiko and her friggin stupid robots were super annoying to deal with. He was still distracted looking where Seiko was going until he caught something moving in his periphery.

Unfortunately, he was too late as her golem landed right next to him with an arm moving over in front of its ‘stomach’ and a violent spin as it let its arm out. For a brief moment, everything moved in slow motion as he saw the Golem’s arm slam right into his side enough to knock the air right out of him and then some.

Feeling the air get knocked out of him was wild. It felt like a gasp in reverse. Not only that, his vision turned strange. Everything blacked out for a brief moment. What few seconds he could see turned into a violent shake as the world spun around him. From the outside, the golem had sent him flying and tumbling into the ground hard. Everything hurt. In the last few moments he could stay conscious, Taigakai knew trying to go against Seiko was pretty useless and he was starting to question why they tried in the first place. Though he figured, just giving up would probably make him feel worse than losing to someone who made killer drones for a living. Oh well. Maybe next time.

Watching his partner taken out by the slam from the golem, Akira felt he could very well have had it. He could draw the round out, keep going until he had the perfect strategy to get rid of the golem. But... it was two against one, his Arsene was the only one still on show and he knew he wouldn't have time to repair any serious damage his favourite puppet might take. Kaen was knocked clean of his body and currently reforming slowly. With a sigh, he hurried towards his knocked out partner, removing his mask to completely reveal himself. "Stop! I'm beaten," He called out to signal his own forfeit, checking on Taigakai. With a wave of his hand, Arsene moved swiftly across and returned to his side. "I could keep going, I could keep avoiding you, but I think we learned with that dumb rock throw that I can't get a hit in on either of you. I know when I'm beaten."
