Mission Info:

Sid leaned down to adjust her skate for what seemed like the thousandth time, idly spinning the wheel of one skate. Not just any wheel, a Sub-Regalia. Kings and Queens used those when they would Ride, it was like a crown or some other mark of station. Did having the Sonia Sub-Regalia make her...a Princess of the Sonia Road? She shook her head slightly in order to clear the thoughts away. She was just trying to distract herself from the looming mission at this point.

She had grabbed it the instant she saw what it was. Bandits cannibalizing the remains of houses and compounds, sometimes just squatting and using them as bases of operations to harass the errant passerby. That was normal, to be expected if anything, but the compound that had been mentioned used to belong to the Kukinorite. And she couldn't let that stand, so she'd go and kick their asses, maybe even return some belongings to her clan. Sid waited, skating in small barely noticeable circles, headphones in her ears, for her mission partner to arrive.

Indra had never been to this part of the Republic before. From his limited understanding of the area surrounding Mahougakure, the land went through some pretty frequent and sudden weather changes with little warning. He hoped that their mission kept them close enough to the village that such weather issues wouldn't have any real impact on their goal. The village itself had been a fascinating collection of floating spheres and bridges, far different than the layout of Kohaigakure, and he had enjoyed exploring it the previous day when he arrived. The barracks for traveling Republic shinobi looking to aid other villages had been sparse, but surprisingly comfortable and he felt well rested as he exited the village gate and made his way to the meeting point.

To his surprise, but genuine joy, he saw a familiar face waiting at the meetup point. Hey, Sid! He called with a wave. Long time, no see. You're on this mission too? I guess neither of us could just sit around after the one the other day. He said with a smile that showed genuine, almost child-like excitement for not only this upcoming mission but being reunited again with someone he had started to consider a friend. His life had become far more lonely than he ever expected and in truth, he had been so busy with training over the last year or so after the chunin exams that he hadn't made much time to actually make friends with others his own age. Seiko had been interesting, and he made a mental note to reach out to her soon, but beyond that it had really just been Sid and Lana. Lana he hadn't heard word from or seen since that mission so many months ago, so that really just left Sid. So this is your home, huh? I like it. You should probably lead the way, I have no idea where we're going. Indra said, ready to follow Sid's lead.

Sid looked up, music turned low so she could hear the approach of someone passing by. Her eyes landed on a familiar shock of blonde hair and she found a genuine smile gracing her features. She still remembers the flash of steel and the opening of a throat, the unnecessary ending of a life, but it was like a distant memory. So many things had happened since, and Sid had come to view Indra as one of her closest friends. He was four years her junior, sure, so it was more like a brother-sister relationship than anything, but seeing him immediately brightened her otherwise serious mood "Sup, lil lightning dude! Welcome to the Mahougakure Sight-seeing Tour! First and only stop: the site of an island crash, brought about by an attack from a literal fucking hell cat." Her voice was overly cheery, and there was a mirthful glint in her eye as she began to skate forward.

Sid was dressed simply once more, knowing she might need to do some overly acrobatic maneuvers through rubble and debris to get to where they were going. She looked like she was wearing mainly workout gear, close fitting shorts and a sports bra with a light hoodie thrown over it and zipped up half-way. Her hair was blonde with pink highlights today, pulled up into a high ponytail that swayed every time she pushed forwards on her skates "And if you want, I can show you the fun places to visit in Mahou. There's an arcade in the entertainment district that has tournaments and shit for games, I visit and play Mana the Gathering some days. You ever heard of it?"

Indra reflexively winced at the mention of an entire island being brought down by the Nibi attack. It was something he himself had noticed, but the people of Mahou seemed to talk about in hushed tones while he was exploring yesterday. No village had gone unscathed, it was a simple fact, and although it had been months ago, it still seemed wrong to talk about the dramatic loss of life and destruction in such a nonchalant tone. Still, Indra didn't mind the way Sid approached such terrible things. It made them easier to process and move on from. That sounds...unfortunate. Is that where we're headed for the mission? He couldn't imagine there was much to salvage from an island that had been brought down out of the sky. Not to mention the attack itself surely reduced anything of value to ash, but then again, what did he know?

As they walked, Sid leading the way, Indra shook his head at her question, Uh no, I haven't heard of that...or an arcade? Is Mana the Gathering some sort of training exercise or something? Oh, like maybe a collection of trainees get together, you know, the gathering part, and simulate exercises like the defense of raids and such. I once played Capture the Flag a few weeks after graduating from the academy, but a ten-year-old had to have their leg amputated so it was shut down for a few months and I never got a chance to play again. He trailed off, dwelling for the first time on how dark of an experience that had actually been. In truth, he only had fond memories of that game, It was still pretty fun though.

Sid simply nodded at Indra's question about the mission as she lead the way, skating easily across the ground in the direction of the crashed compound. The buildings of Mahougakure were built sturdier than in other villages because they were sky islands. Lives may be lost in the event of a crash, but certain structures could be salvaged or would resist collapse and possibly allow their contents to be recovered. It was this same reason why bandits found they could hide within these ruins, and it was the reason they were headed there now. That, and Sid didn't like the idea of people disrespecting her clan's spaces. Even if they were half rubble by now.

Sid tossed a worried glance over at Indra, face scrunched in concern "Wait okay I can understand never having heard of Mana, it's kind of a niche thing, but you've NEVER been to an arcade? You haven't played Picmen? Mirio? Super Sonic Roadhog?" She turned and actually began skating backwards so that she could look directly at Indra while she moved "Okay so arcades have a bunch of games you can play, not at all like training exercises, they're actually fun for fun's sake. There are games where you like throw little blunted kunai into baskets, try to get rings onto pegs, or hit symbols in time with their flashes. And most games, you can win tickets that you can turn in at the arcade shop for prizes. It's fuckin sick, and I'm taking you once we're done here." She turned back around to watch where she was going, her tone saying that it was decided and there was nothing Indra could say to get out of it.

As they turned the corner, Indra got his first look at the crashed section of Mahougakure and frowned in confusion. The destruction initially made him inhale, but upon a closer inspection, he realized that the destruction really wasn't all that bad. In fact, it was surprisingly minimal considering the island had fallen out of the freaking sky. Sure there were collapsed buildings, cracked roads and just general destruction throughout, but the fact that any buildings at all were still standing was either a miracle from Kami above, or simply a feat of incredible engineering by the people of Mahougakure. I can't believe how well it held up. He said with genuine surprise before Sid skated in front of him.

He racked his brain for any mention of these 'games' as she called them, but shook his head and stared her directly in the eye, I have no idea what you're talking about. She went on to explain the idea of this arcade to him and quite honestly, he couldn't really wrap his head around it. I guess that sounds good for young kids, maybe even the academy students. They can practice their shurikenjutsu with your blunted kunai game. Accuracy and reaction are important too, I guess that's why the symbols game you mentioned exists. He looked deep in thought as he considered each game Sid mentioned and how it could best prepare the next generation of shinobi, Yeah, that's actually really smart. They're preparing the next generation with fun games that aren't directly training per say, but training adjacent.

Turning the corner, a good few buildings had survived though several were cracked and chunks of wall or overhang had broken off and sprayed across the floor. Any bodies that were here had long been moved away though there were a few tell tale dark brown rust-like stains across the street and between some of the buildings. It was eerily still, there didn't even seem to be any animals moving around. It was like the entire place was holding its breath, waiting for something to occur.

There were two things of note however. A pair of almost completely intact buildings which matched the descriptions that the two Shinobi had been told to go and search for loot. One of them seemed to be plastered on the outside with posters or sheafs of paper, the other was completely dark inside and quite foreboding. Other than that, a bit further away but still visible was what seemed to be a makeshift graveyard that had been set up with a bit of a ragtag fence set around. The graveyard had quite a solemn air even from this distance and there seemed to be small bits of movement coming from it but only when viewed out of the corner of one's eye.

"Look....no. There are more kids who are just normal and not shinobi than there are kids who are, and I'm pretty sure arcades were made to entertain them. They have absolutely nothing to do with training, and it is honestly sad that you have zero concept of fun." Sid said all of this while staring off in the direction of the cemetery. She saw movement within and felt the draw to go check it out, but they had a mission to take care of now. She skated forward towards the two intact buildings "Stay together or split up, your choice fancy eyes." She moved towards the building covered in paper as she said this, expecting Indra to either follow behind her or go towards the other building based on what he felt like doing. Either way she would keep her eye out in preparation for anything that could jump out.

Entertain them? Indra asked, mulling this idea over in his head as he followed Sid. But what's the point of entertainment when you could better yourself at the same time? You mean they just use these arcades to pass the time? That's...weird. He said, shaking his head before realizing what Sid had also said at the end of her explanation, Hey! I do have a sense of fun. That mission we went on to kill all those lizard raptor things was a ton of fun and I got to try out one of my more advanced techniques. See, entertainment and bettering yourself. It just makes more sense. He said with a shrug, now content with his own train of thought. Indra had decided to stick with Sid. It'd take longer to root out the bandits, but he was in unfamiliar territory and it was better to stick together until they had a better idea of what they were up against. As they neared the building, Indra activated his eyes, allowing him a better sense and clarity of his surroundings. He placed a hand on the hilt of his sword, preparing himself for anything while following Sid inside.

Once they were a bit closer to the building, the two Shinobi would finally be able to see what was written on the paper that was plastered across the walls and doorframe. Though it would only be fully obvious once they were within ten feet. The papers were covered in writings with lines like "Go home Shinobi" or "We can only save ourselves!" or "Make them bleed for the village, not us!" And other similar anti-Shinobi sentiments. All of these were written around the image of a skull in the middle of each piece of paper... A skull with an open mouth.... Open around an explosive tag seal.

The building would immediately detonate, spraying shrapnel and flame across the entire outside of the building. Surprisingly afterwards the building would survive even if its walls were blackened and scorched, it appeared that the seals had been modified to actually be a directional explosion instead of destroying absolutely everything around them. After the blast and the smoke cleared a bit, three arrows would fire out from an upper floor window, two at Sidonie, one at Indra, all of them fired with C-Rank strength.

Sid hissed as the heat of the explosion swirled around her, skating backwards away from the building a bit. It was more annoying than damaging, to her at least, and as the arrows flew out from the windows above she grit her teeth and jumped. It was simple enough to aim for the window, her body contorting as she moved through the air to allow for the arrows to fly harmlessly past her. As she shifted, she kicked out almost imperceptibly, feeling the Road form before her as she did so. Following her kicks were two long, needle-like bursts of air that shot through the window aiming to pierce through whomever had fired from there. Sid herself coasted through the window not too long afterwards, landing and quickly scanning the space for her target.

If not for Indra's heightened reaction capabilities thanks to his Raidengan, things would have gone a lot worse. As it were, the world seemed to slow down around him as the first explosive tag ignited. His body moved of its own volition, his brain not fully clicking with what was happening but a primal instinct of fear kicking in and taking over. His eyes watched the explosion develop as if watching slides in a slide show, one frame at a time before closing just before dust or shrapnel could do any damage. Indra himself was knocked backward, but his body was ready for it, going limp to absorb and flow with the shockwave rather than try to resist it. He hit the ground and rolled, coming up on one knee coughing and groaning. Ow. He grunted, feeling at his chest where the brunt of the explosion had knocked into his ribs and sternum. Thankfully, he knew the damage would leave only a bruise and the bandages he had wrapped around his torso had cushioned the bullet-like debris that had been kicked up from the explosion.

Before Indra could rise, an arrow pierced the faint dust cloud that had been kicked up and again his body kicked into gear. This time, however, his Displacement Aura saved him, solidifying and pushing the arrow to the side just before impact. It embedded itself in the ground to his right and Indra sighed in relief. He watched Sid cut through the sky and enter the upper story of the building. Realizing he had no way of getting himself up there without the stairs, Indra grunted once more and dashed for the front entrance. He held out his hand and shot a signal flare into the ground floor of the building, hoping to illuminate anything else inside and blind any possible bandits. He would slow down as he neared the entrance, not exactly excited to take another explosion to the face, and search with both his eyes and the electrolocation capabilities of his Raidengan for any signs of danger or life on this bottom floor before seeking the stairs to help Sid.

One high, one low, a very by the books strategy it would seem. Sidonie would end up flying straight through the window, firing off two darts of air to hit two of the archers, both of whom stumbled back from the darts with bloody wounds. They weren't dead yet but shit like that always hurt. They immediately dropped their bows and pulled shortswords, rushing at Sid at C-Rank speed to try and cut her up with their swords, each of them dealing C-Rank physical damage. The room was a fairly large bedroom though it had mostly been trashed and there was a closed door in the back of the room. The third archer also dropped their bow but instead of drawing a sword she hopped back and pulled out a bottle of some kind and a lighter. She took a deep swig from the liquid and then spat it out into the lighter creating a directed blast of flame aimed directly at Sid.

Bandito Flamespitter:

--

As for Indra, his signal flare would indeed work. Three bandits in the living room would immediately bark in pain and cover their eyes due to the flash. However not all would go perfectly as Indra's enhanced reactions would notice a pair of tripwires going across the doorway, one at ankle level, the other at head height, seemingly attached to something behind the door frame. Whether or not he managed to deal with the tripwires easily, the bandits inside at least had some initiative and weren't completely stunned, only blind.

One of them threw down a smoke bomb as the other two reached around and pulled on gas masks. The smoke bomb would detonate, filling the room with a strangely grey-green gas that worked just as well as a smokebomb but would cause some heavy burning of the lungs for every PT that was spent inside of it.

Sid simply arched an eyebrow as the two bandits came at her with swords. She took a step to the side to avoid the blade from the one on her left. while shoving out with her arm at the one to her right, aiming to interrupt his attack and knock him backwards a bit. When the other one drew out the bottle and the lighter, Sid flew into action. Fire was never good, and she was proven right as the woman released a gout of flame from her mouth. "No hand seals, so not ninjutsu. Is that....vodka in the air? Maybe she has another bottle..." Sid's thoughts whirred at high speeds as she reached out towards the bandit on her right, gripping him by the wrist and shoulder before pivoting quickly, aiming to yank him off his feet and throw him back at his fire breathing companion and directly into the path of her fire.

The flash went off and Indra grinned but he hesitated at the doorway with a frown. Tripwires. He was in no mood to tangle with more explosive tags and now there was some sort of strange smoke filling the room inside. Indra stepped back several feet, giving himself a safe distance from the smoke and any other possible projectiles. His electrolocation allowed him to make out at least three individuals within, so it wouldn't take much for him to go in and dispatch of them once he figured out the tripwire situation. However, the outlines of their gasmasks made matters even more troubling and for a long moment, he was truly stumped. He racked his brain for the details of the mission and realized that all Sid and Indra really had to do was search these buildings for any valuables to return them to their owners. The mission had warned to watch out for bandits, but they weren't tasked with actually hunting them down.

These bandits had proven themselves resourceful and organized. Quite frankly, if they had decided on a different path in life then they would have made for fine shinobi or even part of the civilian police force in a village. After the Bijuu rampages, there were plenty of positions to fill. Indra cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled into the darkened room, Hey guys, I hope you can hear me in there! You guys seem really resourceful and organized. The villages could use people like that. If you come out peacefully, I promise to return with you to the village and put in a good word for you that you helped us with our mission. It could probably lead to some well-paying jobs and you wouldn't have to worry about selling stolen goods or having a place to sleep at night. The villages are too busy with bigger issues to worry about some petty thieves, so if you're willing to stop and work, I know they'll gladly take you in. He chewed over this plan while he waited for a response. It was a long shot to be sure, but so much blood had been spilled in the last few months. There was no reason to see more of it.

The bandit wasn't really expecting to get thrown, definitely not into fire too! He caught ablaze immediately and fell to the ground, screaming and attempting to pat himself out. The Flamespitter just growled and kicked her flaming comrade aside before pulling out a pair of bottles into her left hand, held near the top between her fingers. Each bottle had a rag in the top and she lit both of them with her lighter before hurling both of them at Sid's feet rather than directly at her at C-Rank+ speeds. If they hit the ground they'd explode into blasts of flame that would engulf Sid and also the other bandit but the Flamespitter didn't really seem to care whatsoever.

Flamespitter:

--

On the bottom the three Bandits grouped together after hearing Indra shout at them, ignoring the screams from above, there was usually a lot of screaming with Flamespitter anyway. They huddled together and had a bit of a chat before as a group they nodded and then a voice called out. It was fairly low and gruff, with a strange scratchy rasp in it like the person had been smoking forty a day for a good couple of decades. "How can we believe ya? You shinobi prolly got sent on a mission here to kill us! If you didn't though... Well we are all runnin' outta supplies here, it's hard work and dangerous as hell... Especially with that freak over in the graveyard watchin' us every day! I know it's gonna be a hard sell... But if you throw yer sword in here without you, we'll come out quietly! You don't even need it to kill us, you fuckers can throw around meteors and shit, we're just tryin' to make a living out here! 'Specially after everything went to fuckery in a handbasket!"

When the woman pulled out more bottles and lit them, Sid immediately dashed back and kicked out twice in quick succession, aiming not for the bandit but the bottles she was currently holding steady. Two more Thorns lashed out, aiming to pierce and break the bottles as the woman held them, or at least closer to bandit than it was to Sid. She aimed to catch the woman in her own explosion, though she did lament the damage it might do to the building. Indra had a little salamander with Water Release though, didn't he? What was its name? Dougal? Doogie? She'd ask later, now she would focus on making sure these bandits were dealt with.

They wanted his sword? He couldn't blame them for not trusting him on his word, but he also couldn't fully trust them on theirs. He still had his old, basic katana sealed in the Flash Blade seal on his wrist if they weren't being honest and they weren't wrong about him probably being able to wipe the floor with them, but still, he liked the Denki Tanto at his hip far better. He also knew he'd never hear the end of it from Sid if he just gave these bandits a weapon. I understand you don't feel like you can trust me, but hopefully, you understand that I can't fully trust you. He called into the room as he undid the straps around his waist sheath. How about a middle ground? He asked, tossing the sword and sheathe about ten feet away to his right.

On top of that, I promise you my cut of the pay for completing this mission as long as you don't pull any funny business. Even with jobs in the village, you'll need a bit of padding to get yourselves settled. I know it's not something now, but it's the best I can do at the moment. He waited for their response, wondering about this "freak in the graveyard", Also, I'd like to take care of this graveyard issue for you, and honestly the village as well. Can you give me some more information about that?

It was definitely a horrible feeling to just suddenly be on fire as the Flamespitter quickly found. For a few moments she realised that this is what she had been doing to other people and ever so slightly regretted her decisions. That was at least until the flames burned her to death as the rest of her vodka and explosives went off on her body, blowing her sky high and scorching the entire back half of the room. With that, there was only one bandit who looked at what had happened and decided to just put his sword carefully on the ground and sit in the corner, tucking his knees to his chest and hugging them tightly. Everything else was clear all that was left was the door in the back of the room that would lead to presumably the rest of the house

With the sound of clattering from outside and the smoke finally clearing. Three faces leaned around the side of a window to look outside, two in a gas mask and one not. When they noticed that the Shinobi really had tossed his sword aside. They all looked at each other and nodded. A few moments later the tripwires were disarmed and all three of them came outside with their hands up. "Fuck it, close enough man. Not gonna argue with some money and a job. As for the graveyard? Don't really know much about it, there's some weird guy who sits in the back playing a flute most of the day, told us all not to go near the fuckin' graveyard. One of the boys; Jameson, tried anyway to see if there were any supplies and a fuckin' arrow the size of his leg pinned him to the ground like a display piece. After that we just left that shit alone, ain't worth it."

The three Bandits moved off to the side and then sat down, though not before the guy without the gas mask walked over to Indra and held out a trio of strange glass orbs to him that were filled with that same grey-green gas that had been billowing inside the room a few moments ago.

Sid sighed at the woman's now dead body and shook her head before skating towards the door at the back of the room. After a moment she paused and leveled the final bandit with a glare "I hope you've learned your lesson about banditry. Go back to the village and turn yourself in, you'll probably only get a slap on the wrist because you were small time." She put as much sternness in her voice as she could, which helped when you had the ability to manipulate your voice however you wished "Then you're gonna find a job and become a productive member of society. And if I so much as dream that you're out here doing this shit again..." Sid slowly cracked each of her knuckles in turn, to add emphasis to the open threat. After that she turned and began to search the rest of the house.

Indra accepted the glass orbs carefully and held one up to the light. Grey gas seemed to swirl and undulate within and he made a mental note to move carefully while carrying these things. Placing them gently in his travel pack, Indra nodded to the bandit, 'Preciate it. He looked to the three of them gathered and smiled, glad that bloodshed had been avoided, Alright then, as long as you all don't try to pull anything shady, you're officially under my protection until we reach the village. I'll vouch for you to the guards and see what we can do about setting you up with a job. At the very least, they'll be happy to have more laborers, but like I said, with your proven skillset I'm sure they can find something a bit better.

Indra turned back to the building, noticing a distinct absence of screams and combat sounds. He cupped his hands again and yelled, Hey, Sid! These three are with me. They surrendered and we're taking them back to the village to get them set up when we're done. Don't touch them unless they do anything questionable, alright? He turned to go retrieve his sword before remembering, Oh yeah, He called again towards Sid, the guys say there's some shady flute player shooting arrows in the graveyard. I'm gonna go check it out. Feel free to tag along. He turned back to the bandits, That goes for you three as well. You can wait here and I'll grab you before we head for the village, or you can come with me to check this guy out. I'll keep away any arrows or whatever else Mr. Fluteman has.

With that, Indra turned and headed towards the graveyard, snapping up his sword on the way.

The poor bandit in the room with Sid just nodded weakly, whimpered and gave her a thumbs up before slowly climbing out of the window and down the front of the building. Once he noticed the group of bandits sitting off to the side he moved over to them and sat with them in a group, one of them handing a bottle from which he gladly took a big swig. At least he was safe now, he chose life and it worked out. The door basically crumbled as Sid opened it due to the fireblast from before but it opened out onto the top of a staircase. Across the hall from Sid was another door leading to seemingly another room about the same size as the room that she just came from. There definitely appeared to be sounds from within that room but would Sid just bust in or try a different maneuver?

--

The bandits all looked at each other and the Poisoner raised his hands defensively. "Uh... Nah, we're not fucking with that guy, you can do that. I don't wanna get turned into a fuckin' pincushion you get me? We'll sit here, chill a bit and then come back with you." He said before going to the group and sitting down with them. When Indra walked over to the graveyard he would have the distinct, overpowering impression that he was not only being watched but was actively in someone's sights, almost like a spectre of death looming directly over him.

The graveyard was fairly plain, in fact it almost seemed ramshackle however every grave was meticulously cleaned and immaculately preserved, each had fresh flowers sitting on them. At the back of the graveyard, a solid three hundred feet away if not a bit more, there appeared to be a figure sitting on top of a large monolith. A very large quiver sat on his back with the feathered ends of seemingly huge arrows poking up over his shoulder and hanging from the side of the monolith was a bow that was easily seven feet tall with a tripled string. The man simply sat there, playing a flute, ethereal music flitting over to where Indra was, although the music seemed to be followed by a very quiet voice. "Do not trespass in this graveyard, Shinobi. Here is the domain of the dead, you are unwelcome."

Sid watched the bandit climbed out of the window with a stony face, but as soon as he was out of sight she burst into laughter. She turned to the other door and thought about simply opening it, but she was Sidonie Jayne, and that wasn't dramatic enough for her. She stopped skating in a tight circle in favor of skating all the way back to the window in the other room. She then skated forward at her top speed and kicked out at the closed door, aiming to kick it open if not off its hinges directly.

Indra shrugged, Can't blame you there. He said to the bandit before turning and making his way to the graveyard. When he approached the entrance, he paused before entering, the various hidden traps those bandits had used still fresh in his sore ribs and warmed flesh. For a place that had fallen out of the sky several months ago, this place seemed hardly scathed. Sure there were some weathered and even cracking headstones here and there, but that was more from the ceaseless march of time than anything else. All around this place were broken buildings and cluttered trash, vandalism, and various other signs of disrespect from roving marauders...but not here. He looked up at the sound of someone's voice, his eyes narrowing as he focused on the figure all the way at the back of the cemetery.

Indra strained to hear him. He had advanced eyesight, not hearing after all. He cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted towards the spooky man, What was that? Could you speak up? Something about me being unwelcome? That's okay, you know, I don't mind, but if I'm unwelcome in there then can you come out here to talk? He lowered his hands and stayed quiet after that, straining to focus on what the man said next if he continued talking in his quiet tone.

The door flew open as Sid kicked it... Perhaps a little bit too easily. Along with the door flying inwards a series of metallic strings snapped and there was a series of clicks from both sides of the doorframe. A large collection of boxes mounted around the inside of the doorway then detonated with a loud pop and bang, mixed with the sound of ten thousand marbles getting tossed down a staircase, as every single box was full of metal ball bearings. The explosive tags at the back of each box turned them into lethal shrapnel devices that completely annihilated the doorway and most of the top of the stairs. Several also flew back into the room and buried themselves in the makeshift rampart that had been set up there. Standing behind it were four bandits with spears and a thin, elegantly dressed man in the back. The man in the back had a well oiled, curved mustache with small paper fuses at the end that were lit, his hair was done in a magnificent ducktail, oiled and slicked back. He had a cigar in his mouth and crossed grenade bandoliers on his chest. "Another elegant trap, wouldn't you say my dears?" He called out as the bomb on the door went off and the bandits around him gave some loud cheers and reassurances.

Outside the house, Indra would likely hear a massive boom coming from the upper floors and probably see a couple of ball bearings whizzing through the roof and returning to their people in need somewhere far away. The Bandit group kind of saw that and just sadly shook their head, they knew what their previous boss' bombs were like, whoever just blundered into that probably wasn't doing great. As for Indra himself, the flute music didn't stop at all, in fact the figure at the far end didn't even seem to take notice of him much at all, at least not in a manner that Indra could see at this distance.

Instead there was a soft cough and out from behind one of the graves, a small figure strode out. Dressed in an incredibly ornate and overly large kimono, long black hair spilled down her back and shoulders, only barely avoiding the ground. Her face was covered in a plain white mask that loosely resembled a dog and a pair of real, dog-like ears sat on the top of her head. There were only a few details noticeable; her eyes were a piercing, almost neon green and had no pupils, her legs didn't end in feet but more like porcelain spikes wrapped in bandages and she was carrying a lantern on the end of a fine mahogany rod.

The small girl, barely four and a half feet tall, looked up at Indra, her eyes intense with a slight glimmer of indignancy in them. "I said that this is not your place. You yet live and unless you wish to join the spirits here swifter than you'd like, I suggest you turn tail and leave, Shinobi." Her voice was surprisingly regal now that she was speaking at a normal volume and there was a heavy note of disdain within her tone. "If you wish to address me, you may address me as Hime and you must bow as you do so, whelp, I shall accept no more disrespect from your bumbling, inelegant self!"
