Exploring the Caves [Unique Encounter]

Today, Shiroichi was exploring the network of tunnels underneath Hakagakure, hoping to find something new. He truly liked to explore, especially deep underground where he felt most at home. He had brought a flashlight with him to be able to see where he was going, instead of purely relying on his Spider Armor. Today as he was exploring he had found a formerly collapsed tunnel had cleared up from another collapse below it. So now the path was open for people to explore, which he hoped to be the first one through it. As he made his way into the tunnel he began wondering why it had been sealed away in the first place and never reopened. It had been a good ten years from what he had heard since it had been sealed. Surely someone would have unsealed it during all that time. Maybe there was a reason to it. However, Shiroichi continued forward, unsure yet uncaring. This was an exploration to him, something he simply loved to do with all his heart.

The cave that the young male was in was a monochromatic shade of dirt brown that stretched on as far as the eye could see. As far as the eye could see wasn't that far, as it was almost flooded with darkness. One could barely see more than a few feet in front of them, though even still, no one could miss a small flicker of bright green flesh as Shiroichi walked by. If he even cared to look, he would notice a small green chameleon about the size of his palm slowly turning brown to match the floor of the cave. The chameleon was obviously sick, as even though it's flesh was bright green before, it still seemed much paler than it could've been. It's eyes were also covered in a light grey film, a tell tale sign of being in darkness for much too long. The creature seemed to be favoring it's left hind leg, so it must've had some kind of injury. The chameleon was obviously in need of some kind of assistance, but whether the male helped was completely up to him. The chameleon, however, would most likely accept any help the other would offer.

Shiroichi was a bit of an asshole at times, especially since he captured beasts for money. However, his eyes were observant and he spotted the chameleon. Normally he would leave creatures alone unless he could make some money off of them. However, what caused him to stop and take a look was that a chameleon was not usually found in caves, especially so deep underground. Shiro, nervously, reached out for it, noticing how part of its weight was to one side, it barely even touching its left leg. He found it strange, maybe it had fallen from a sink hole and ended up in the cave network, wandering around. There were plenty of insects, like spiders, within the caves so there was food. But if this little guy was truly injured then it wouldn't have much chance of catching any. He would kneel down and reach out his hand tentatively, hoping it would let him pick it up. If it did he would walk out of the tunnel, shining his flashlight down on it to inspect its legs and body to check for what kind of injuries it might have. He had planned on exploring, but to be honest, he could do that any time. This poor thing's life depended on it. As he walked out he would put his flashlight in his mouth then look around for any insects. If he saw anything even close to one he would point at it with his palm and press down with his middle and ring finger, firing off a web at it at bullet release speeds. If he managed to catch it he would go and pick up the web and peel the bug off, holding it carefully in his hand in front of the chameleon's face to see if it would eat. No doubt it wanted water too so he would have to hurry and head home so he could further inspect it.

The chameleon would tense as Shiroichi reached to pick him up, but would soon relax within the other's grasp as it realized he meant no harm. It was doubtful that even if he did mean harm that the creature could make an escape. It had been able to find enough food to keep him alive when it counted, but lately the pickings seemed scarce and he went without. The chameleon would rest in the other's palm, making sure to keep it's weight off of it's left leg, which seemed fine other than a raised ring of flesh near the joint of one of its small little feat. It was most likely a sprain, but it kept the creature from moving at it's top speed and therefore kept it from being able to hunt as well. The chameleon realized that this male was a true friend when he began to feed it the food it so desperately needed. The creature relished in the bugs it was fed and snuggled up a bit in the boy's palm, ready to be carried away to a safe place.

Shiroichi was glad to see the thing was well enough to eat, it seemed to merely have a small wound, something that even he could fix with the basic medicine at home. It would stroke its back and turn off the flashlight. Luckily the walk home was only ten minutes. When they arrived he would carry it to the bathroom where he would go through the pantry and pull out a few different items. He would then move to his bedroom with it and try to coax it. "Don't worry little guy. This will only hurt for a second," he would say, pouring a little rubbing alcohol on a small square that he cut in half further for the size of the chameleon. He would then gently place it on the Chameleon's leg where it would feel a slight burn. Then he would fire off an ensnarement on his leg before taking apart the thread to wrap around the things leg like a bandage, using its sticky properties and sturdiness yet flexibility to make it hold well enough to not come off yet also keep it so the chameleon could move without worry. The alcohol would numb the pain soon enough once the burn effect wore off. He would then move to the bathroom and take a small cup he had out before placing it on the bed next to the chameleon. "Here, drink up. Regain some strength. I'll get a place for you to stay till you seem good enough to go on your own, then ill return you to the surface where you can live your life and find a little female chameleon and have chameleon babies with," he would say, being gentle since it probably didn't understand his words. He would then sit next to it and try to think of what he could use to keep it in before he went out to hunt down some insects for it. Luckily spiders, crickets, and all kinds of things were very common underground.

The light outside the tunnels wasn't that much brighter than those within, but it was still more light than the little chameleon was used to after being trapped for so long. It closed it's cloudy little eyes against the brightness and just held on to Shiroichi's hand as it was carried along. When it noticed they had stopped moving, it's eyes opening slowly to watch what its young savoir was up to. It felt the burning sensation of the alcohol upon it's leg and closed it's eyes against the slight pain. The pain numbed and it opened it's eyes to see the makeshift bandage around it's leg. It gingerly moved itself onto that leg and found that it could apply more pressure than it could before. It began testing it's limits by walking around Shiroichi's hand. It could walk! It looked up at Shiroichi's face and give him a small nod of thanks. When it was placed upon the bed, it drank from the cup greedily. It hadn't got much water in that cave, it survived on the moisture it could get from the scarce few insects it could find and the occasional puddle. Compared to that, this was an oasis. After it had drank its fill, it climbed up onto Shiroichi's lap, as if it had something important to say but didn't know how to put it into words. After a minute of this it just shook it's head and curled up, apparently going to sleep.

Shiroichi would smile down at the chameleon and then carefully lay on his bed with it on his lap. He would stroke its back as it slept before using a web to shut off the lights. It wasn't that late into the day but he might as well let the little guy rest for now so he could heal up quicker. He would then close his eyes and take a nap, thinking he would set up a little home for it later today. He would need to catch some more bugs, do some research into chameleons, get some wood and plants for it to be on, and a container so it didn't get lost in the house. But it clearly wasn't that wild so he could probably be a little more lenient about what he kept it in till it got better. He would yawn a little, the sleep being contagious before he drifted off to sleep.

The chameleon slept upon Shiroichi for a while before moving from the male's lap to his chest and then curling up once more. It slept for a little while longer. After a few hours the chameleon rose, and seemingly stretched it's muscles. It's color had come back full force and it was shown to be a brilliant neon green with yellow stripes upon his body. It's eyes no longer held the dingy grey film they once did. All in all it looked as it it had spent no time at all within that cave. The chameleon moved it's head down to the webbing that the other had used to bind it's wound and pulled it away easily, along with the little pad of rubbing alcohol. It flexed it's foot for a bit before strutting around Shiro's chest. It then moved from the boy's chest to the edge of the bed, preparing to jump down. At the last moment before it jumped, it looked back at the boy. It nodded as if deciding on something before moving over to the other's forearm. The chameleon found an exposed patch of skin on Shiroichi's right wrist and sat there for a moment. It then bit down on the flesh with enough strength to draw blood and that would definitely cause the boy to wake up. The chameleon backed away from the boy to see what he would do, waiting for his next course of action.

Shiroichi would wake with a start as some minor pain flooded his hand, he yanked it away from the chameleon without realizing it was the chameleon who bit him as he sat up looking around frantically. He would then look at his hand and see the small mark of blood on his hand before looking at where he had pulled it from to see the chameleon watching him. "Dude not cool. Next time if your hungry just... Idk, sit on my face or something," he would say yawning and stretching, he'd wipe the blood off on his shirt before swinging his legs over on the side of the bed. "I'll get you some water then ill search the shed for any insects. I'm sure I could probably find a nice juicy beetle or something. Or maybe ill sneak over to the Shinto compound and snag yah some nice big juicy bugs from them. How's that sound little buddy?" He would say while rubbing the spot where the chameleon had bit. He had never seen one before in person but this one definitely seemed stranger than the average wild animal.

The chameleon would just stare at Shiro with a look that was much akin to pride, as if it had hoped the male would react as such and had been proven right. The area where the chameleon had bitten the male's flesh would start to feel a bit numb, undernoted by the sensation of pin-pricks. Upon the back of his right hand there would appear a deep black circular seal with the image of a chameleon within it's borders. After watching the seal appear, the chameleon would nod and walk back over to the edge of the bed. The creature would then jump down, landing upon the floor as if it weighed less then air. It would then begin to walk away, it's body changing colors to blend in with its surroundings at it made its way towards the door. As it's colors changed the creature would begin to disappear until it simply wasn't there anymore. Even if the boy would try to catch the little creature before it left, he wouldn't be able to. The little thing had just vanished, the only proof of it's existence being the seal emblazoned upon the back of its young savior's hand.
