| ---3 Years Ago--- Masar was, for once, feeling relatively calm in the Arashi training grounds. For so many years, the aspiring Shinobi had seen them as a place of pain and disappointment, linking them to endless afternoons where he worked his mind and body so hard to accomplish things the "true" Arashi could in their first viewing. It wasn't that Masar's talent was bad per say, in fact he was probably among the most talented Kumo branch kids in the entirety of Dipugakure. But to please the looming presence of his father, to match kids who had inborn abilities that allowed them to wield powers Masar could barely dream of, well, it just simply wasn't good enough. Today, however, was different. Today, he and the rest of the Kumo Arashi children were learning actual techniques of the clan! Masar and his friends had grown up hearing stories of jutsu like the Laser Circus or the Storm armor, whispering stories about the villains their heroic ancestors had vanquished with their use. And today, they would be on the beginning of that path! Masar was so excited that he could barely stand to listen to the drone of his great-uncle, talking about "safety" and "listening skills" like the old man he had become. Jurou, one of his many cousins on his father's side, scooted closer, lowering his nasally voice to a stage whisper. "Hey Mas! Whatcha think they gonna teach us? Some Storm release? Would love to get Tomio back for the other day.""Don't think so. I think its supposed to be really hard to do that kind of thing. Chakra stuff. Still, maybe they'll teach us some throwing techniques or something!""Ah you're no fun."The gaggle of prospective Shinobi started with the basics, working on the precise sequence of foot placements that would form the brick and mortar of what would someday become the Molting Step. The basic Molting Step could be split into three different parts: the Shizukanna Shi, the Molting Step itself, and silent movement. It took the class a few days to master the precise foot placements of the Silent Movement technique, as the precise muscle movements of the foot were rather difficult for the kids to execute except under controlled conditions. Masar especially had a good bit of difficulty with the games their instructors had come up with to test their abilities, mostly revolving around tests where if you were heard, you wouldn't recieve food that night. Masar eventually accomplished the feat on the third day, a feat which drew quite a few dirty glances from Jurou and the others. He offered them a portion of his food of course, but that only seemed to annoy them further. Thankfully for his social life, this trend did not continue during the next section of the training, where the group began work on the actual mechanics of the Molting Step and its associated fighting style. Masar soon found that the precise bodily control needed to execute the molting step was much harder than it sounded. The slightest imperfection in his breathing or bloodflow completely threw it off, sending him crashing to the ground covered in bruises. If Masar focused too hard on the Molting Step, he was unable to execute the tight bladework of the Shizukanna Shi. And if he focused on the fighting style too much, he was unable to fully take advantage of the insane speeds the Molting Step granted him. Eventually however, it all blended together into a cohesive whole and, with a few more refinements, Masar had finally taken his first step into the Shinobi World: The Completed Molting Step. - Training:
Name: Shizukana Shi Classification: Fighting Style Rank: D-rank Class: Supplementary Range: Self
Description: Shizukana Shi, also known as Quiet Death is the Arashi Clan signature fighting style. For generations the Arashi clan has worked tirelessly to create a method of dispatching opponents that it would become their trademark. Such an opportunity was granted when Rayne Arashi created Molting Step. The premise was simple a sudden coiling of the muscles before moving caused opponents who were not focusing intently on him to be unable to track his movement. It's drawback however was that it was easily able to be detected by those with Muscle Tension or time-slowing dojutsu as well as the distance it could cover with one movement. Shizukana Shi was the systematic refinement of fighting opponents using Molting Step revolving around assasination without the opponent not only noticing what killed them but those around the target not hearing the death in question.
Name: Molting Step Classification: Kinjutsu Rank: D-rank (D-rank Blood Price Each Step taken) Class: Supplementary Range: Short
Description: Molting Step revolves around the user first hyperventilating in order to increase the heart rate thus allowing their blood to flow quicker through their body. The user then follows up by coiling the muscles in their legs before kicking off the ground and crossing a set distance at high speeds before taking another step. This distance is constant regardless of the speed used, with higher speed having the distance they are capable of travelling in a single post (total) being directly added onto this technique. During this movement opponents without D-rank Reaction Tiers, 1-rank Higher Speed, Muscle Tension or a Time-Slowing Dojutsu are unable to track their movement. This technique sets the precedent for all Categories (advanced variations) that come after it. As the user becomes more skilled at the use of Molting Step they can increase their distance however those Arashi Clan members who were unfortunate enough to be born with damaged chakra coils are capable of mastering it further by reducing the number of steps taken over said distance. Rank - Distance (ft) - No of Steps Per Distance (Normal/PAT/TAT) D - 5 - 1/1/1 C - 10 - 3/2/2 B - 15 - 6/4/3 A - 20 - 9/6/4 S - 25 - 12/8/5
Name: Shizukana Shi: Silent Movement Classification: Taijutsu Rank: D-rank Class: Supplementary Range: Self
Description: This is the art of moving silently, which Arashi have learned to do by virtue of watching others and encountering the users of the Silent Killing Technique. This involves the user adopting a crouching stance while moving landing with their heel first followed by a smooth rolling of the foot before pushing off the toe. This is done primarily to reduce the impact noise of their feet on a surface with opponents with normal hearing being unable to track their movement while likewise masking the impact vibrations of their feet from D-rank Vibration Sensory techniques.
Name: Shizukana Shi: Ninja Step Minimizing Classification: Taijutsu Rank: D-rank Class: Supplementary Range: Self
Description: Molting Step while powerful is inherently flawed in comparison to other movement styles, it requires the Arashi to be calculating with exactly when or where they move as a misstep causes them to waste valuable life-force. Over time however the Arashi discovered that among those members of the clan who had parents, grandparents or any ancestry who regularly used Molting Step that their bodies had seemingly adapted to the strain to create modified Endurance Tiers who's sole purpose was to reduce the strain from preforming Molting Step. This is the first of such and works to decrease the number of steps by 2 (If Normal Arashi), 1 (If P.A.T Arashi) or 0 (If T.A.T Arashi).
Name: Molting Step: Category 1 Classification: Kinjutsu Rank: C-rank (3 D-rank Blood Price Each Step taken) Class: Supplementary Range: Short
Description: This is an improved version of Molting Step increasing the speed that the user moves while simultaneously causing those who aren't focusing on the user (C-rank Reaction Tiers) to be unable to detect their movement (Req. Raised Hearing to hear steps). The main improvement however is by combining it with Shizukana Shi: Silent Movement allowing the user to use them simultaneously resulting in a silent movement technique which is primarily used by the Arashi in place of a speed tier. When using this technique slower than usual (Molting Step) for the same price, double the distance can be covered for the same number of Steps.
