Take Two (ZardHatta's Journey)

Hatta was enjoying the walk through the forest this time around. An air of excitement around them as he knew he had something big on his hands. His heads were in the cloud. He wondered what laid in store. Hold on... Is that a rabbit?! Yes! But it’s way to far. ZwardFae knew what to do as she sprinted out and let out a battle cry. Hatta not knowing what to do so all of a sudden, picked up a rock and tossed it at the rabbits head. Hopefully Fae’s cry would connect but if not he hoped to Daze the rabbit with the blow to the head for Fae to get to the rabbit. If Fae could catch up she’d tap into that rage from earlier and try to pounce onto the bunny and rake it’s back with her claws.

The rabbit was completely minding its own business when a rock fell from the sky, striking it in the head and drawing blood. The creature let out a yelp of pain and confusion, looking around for the source of the attack when a high pitched squeal broke the silence of the forest. Zwardfae had once again done her best to roar triumphantly, but unfortunately failed in doing so, thus warning the rabbit of her approach. The rabbit would jump out of the way, avoiding some of the damage, but feeling Fae's claws rake its back, drawing fresh blood. It would land a bit in front of Fae and immediately pivot, turning and jumping into her with its horn. The rabbit would aim for her shoulder, the joint connecting her arm to her body in an attempt to impale it. This tactic usually worked with predators to slow them down and debilitate them so the rabbit could get away.

ZardHatta saw the Rabbit try and impale his friend and wouldn’t be happy to see her get hurt. ZwardFae on the other hand. She had jerked herself to the side yet had taken the impalement with stride, she was hurting yes but now this Rabbit was attached to her oh so temporarily. She concentrated a bit more and channeled her temper once more. She was going to end this thing herself. She with as much force she could muster would jab two of her claws into the bunny’s ribs. Hatta had finally rushed in to save her! He swung his club at the beasts side in hopes of slaying it for good. It may have been overkill but they knew how dangerous these bunnies were. They had knives on their forehead after all.

While her anger was impressive, it seemed the rabbit was determined to cling to life just a bit longer. It was breathing hard, bleeding from its side when it pulled back its horn and slashed at Fae's stomach. However, just after it did so, ZardHatta would arrive within striking range and deliver the killing blow. The rabbit twitched, its heart beating one or two final times before it lay still, completely dead. Once again, the hunting duo had been successful. Meanwhile, the human girl approached with a moderate sized book in her hand. There were drawings and scribbles of letters, not that Fae or Hatta would be able to understand any of them. Hmm...this is a Greater Horned Rabbit, right? I think I have a nice stew recipe for those. She said, mostly to herself than the Zards. Apparently someone had started feeling a bit more comfortable around the lizards.

Spoiler:

Fae got a decent scratch on the top layer of scales leaving a nasty cut. The Stab bothered it less then this fresh cut across it scales. She had to shed asap. Hatta looked concerned, those dastardly wabbits were vicious. Fae knew they were close to the burrow, "Let me shed. I'll catch up." she shoo'd Hatta away as she liked to Shed in private. Hatta shrugged his shoulders and put his weapon away, he knew how Fae was at this point. He looked over at the Human, She seemed to not be so scared of the Rabbit. Well Hatta flung the bunny on his back and pointed toward the burrow. It should be close and he resumed dragging the Tanuki as well. Seems he had a feast. HOMEWARD!
