Roxas twirled his new weapons across his pinky fingers before tossing and catching them. What he carried by his side were two brand new projectile accelerators. One was an onyx coloration, sleeked with a silver hue along each edge giving it an almost glowing sensation. It was a short handgun, something rarely seen in the world of the shinobi. The other weapon he held was a silver handgun, this one had bronze streaks along its edges giving it an almost silver glow. Aurum and Argentum is what he called these two, the roman word for Gold and Silver. Of course that wasn't their true coloration nor their true metal, but the glow that was caused when light caught their edges were the birth of the name and seemed to fit them nicely. He held Aurum in his right gun satchel while Argentum sat in his left. They were fine weapons and ones Roxas planned to use frequently.

He had just recently been promoted to Head Jonin by the last Council member, Reiver. It was thanks to him having taken effort in their time of need to get the nations focused and organized, to get them prepared and protected. Of course him and Reiver were still on equal terms, but Reiver's plan was to use Roxas as a face value leader for the Shinobi. He wasn't too comfortable with that, his skill with wording shown in a meeting earlier that week. However he would do his best to correct the appearance he had shown and create a new one that the Shinobi world could stand beside. One they could look up to and follow with full trust in their heart. But that wasn't all, soon Roxas would be known for more than just his volcanic road and his volcanic shadow. Soon he would be on back of a mighty Silver Rathalos with his dual pistols by his side, raining terror upon their enemies from above and being a massive symbol of hope for the Shinobi Forces.

He began to think back on his life. From the little kid he used to be back in the Academy. Roxas was always walking around with a smirk on his face as if he had just gotten a fresh batch of candy from the store. Always greeting people and just causing some annoyance to the adults. He had been skilled and friendly. However one day he had come upon something dark and morbid within the Academy grounds. He had come across the underworld of the West Continent, a pit where they fought children like gladiators. Two go in, one come out. No mercy. He had been tricked, thinking it was all a game that day. Until things had gone too far. When he realized what was occurring he felt like throwing up, he wished to leave the place but there was only one way out. Either through death or through winning. He didn't want to kill anymore and he didn't want to die. Though the fates must have been laughing that day. A girl that felt the same way as him was his next opponent. She could have killed him, but instead she allowed herself to die, to free herself of the nightmare that she had been trapped in. And now Roxas was the one trapped in it. Whenever Roxas thinks back to that day he always wondered how two who didn't want to be there ended up in the finals. Maybe it was the want for escape and innocence that triumphed over the blood thirsty and accepting. Or maybe they had just got lucky. Roxas wasn't sure but he was glad to be far away from those times.

After that day Roxas had began to live in seclusion with himself. He rarely left his room and whenever he did he kept to himself. The memories of the pit haunted him worse than that of his strange irrational fear of insects. It took months of therapy to even open up a little. However, when he had finally began to harden himself, something new occurred. An explosion had snapped Roxas from his daze, the attack of the Blades of the Shogunate. At least the old Blades. They had retired and were rumored to have resurrected an old organization that once caused terror through the lands: Gekihen. There was even rumor that one of the original  Gekihen still lived frozen in ice at the bottom of the Frozen Sea. God he hoped that guy never escaped. But he was getting off from his thoughts. That day he had met Topaz and his partner. Without any provocation Topaz had suddenly taken Roxas's arm, which was now cast in a metal. Roxas had attempted to gain revenge for his arm but the guys partner had assisted him in fleeing from the seen, leaving Roxas angered at his loss of revenge. But that wouldn't be the last time he saw them... No it would not.

Roxas sighed as he tried to suppress these disturbing memories. He hated his time in the Academy and wished it over with. But here he was, six years later and they still haunted him in his sleep. Could he not escape from such a thing? What would he need to do to escape the haunting of the pits? To escape the cries of the crowd, the souls of the damned? What would he have to do? Roxas wished he had the answer for it but he did not. He had to deal with waking up in a cold sweat each and every day. Not even the comfort of Laxus by his side could stem these nightmares. He often considered seeking a professional to erase the memories from his mind, but at times he remembered that these nightmares, that the things that occurred in his life had caused him to grow stronger and mature. Maybe if they hadn't occurred he wouldn't be alive right now. Maybe those difficult times were what caused him to evolve in spirit to where he is now.

He had trained so hard ever since meeting Topaz and losing his arm. Spending days and nights working and harnessing his techniques to near perfection in preparations for revenge. He only rested to regain his energy since his body did not actually require sleep. During those times he would work his mental focus to create strategies in a way to fight Topaz once again. He took the nightmares of his time in the pits and took the spirits of the dead, mixing them in with his own fighting style to create deadlier tech. One of which was a major factor in the downfall of Topaz: Quick Jab. Quick Jab was a technique he had developed in memory of the boxer that he had once fought within the Pits. The guy had a swift punch and Roxas perfected it into a single quick punch, fast as light. It was meant for speed and not power and as such it worked perfectly in combination with his Afterstrike technique which led to giving Topaz a weakness for a short time. By using his mirage techniques during that time he managed to corner Topaz and force him to surrender. He could have taken his revenge there and then, but instead he humiliated Topaz by letting him keep his arm, knowing that Roxas had in basically said that Topaz was no longer worth his time with his actions. In truth Roxas wished to seek out Topaz once more and have a final contest. A final fight to determine who was stronger. If he won then he would get even and return the favor of his own arm. But until then Topaz had to live with the humiliation given to him by Roxas. Whenever he thought on this it made him smile. Even back then he was happy to have managed to best Topaz so swiftly.

After that things felt somewhat easier. Well, he wish he could say that, but in truth it was even more difficult. His first opponent in the finals was that of the Academy's monster, Arikiko Kenpachi. The guy had been the number one bet in the Academy to go all the way, but Roxas had quelled the beast with tactic rather than force. He knew Arikiko could win in an upfront fight and as such Roxas used a more roundabout method. The practice in deception he had worked on had come in quite handy once again, allowing him to wear Arikiko out forcing him to surrender or bleed out. A simple arrow hidden within illusions had welcomed this victory, much to the displeasure of Arikiko. He was surprised when Arikiko showed up within Hakagakure just a day ago. The man was completely different than the one Roxas had once known. No longer was he the mad beast looking for blood. Well he might still be like that but he was no doubt more mature and shrewd. It kind of scared Roxas, as an intelligence along with such brute power could be formidable.

But Arikiko wasn't his worst enemy. In part two of the Exams Roxas came across Cyrus Taki, current leading force of the Blades of the Shogunate. His shark summons had proven useful, and only through shrewd tactics and Tekio was he even capable of pulling out the victory, albeit being actually bested by such a thing. He never liked to admit it, but Cyrus had been far better than him. If he had played it just a little smarter he could probably have managed to get a lucky hit on Roxas. It would have been a game of chance on who would strike who, but thankfully Cyrus too had surrendered. If they were to both fight again, Roxas might be able to win but it wasn't guaranteed. Cyrus had come the closest to beating him than any other. Arikiko's brute force and Topaz's underestimation had allowed Roxas to slip in with a victory sought through strategy. But now there was no doubt Cyrus had his own strategy. Roxas would need to perfect his Lava Road in order to succeed in future endeavors if he was to ever fight the guy again in a true battle, especially one to the death.

Then came his final battle. He was already exhausted from the prodigy of Topaz, though he had got some rest inbetween. In his fight with Arikiko he had mainly acted like a coward and had one with barely doing anything. His fight with Cyrus had been draining, but he had managed to pull out the win. Then he was against Kimiko Sasori, runner up in the exams. Her bead style was extreme and he had to give Tekio control to even come close to fighting her. She had taken little damage and he lots, if not for Tekio he would have lost quickly but he had managed to pull off an attack that secured his victory over her. It wasn't his most noteworthy opponent, but he had gained new respect for the Sasori and their beads. He never knew they could be so deadly. If he hadn't managed to brute force her barriers she might have won, but luckily he had a way to do it.

And then by the very man who allowed the pits and who selected the Blades, he had been given rank of Chuunin, victor of the Chuunin Exam Tournament. He felt good that he had managed to best the best of the Academy, minus some of the Blades who had merely forfeited and left. In truth he wished to test his capabilities against all the Blades once again, but doubted he could get the chance and live. No there was no doubt in his mind that they would turn on him and kill him as soon as possible. And he had no desire to join them if he could help it. Maybe he would get to meet Topaz on the field of battle one day, but until then he had a village to take care of. No, more than a village... He had a Nation to take care of.
