Chunin Exams Round 2 [Duststorm Maze - Takahiro-Nyen-Colt]

The young pervert would find that he had awoken in almost complete darkness, his back against a wall. If he checked himself over he'd find that he would have all of his equipment on him as well as two new things. The first would be the 'Yang' part of a Yin-Yang pendant although it was obviously incomplete. A wall rose to either side of him leaving his only direction to go forwards. Dust cloyed everything and if he wasn't careful or covered his mouth he'd end up coughing and spluttering and choking, making a lot of noise that people might end up being able to track him with which would be quite bothersome.

After reading the note and after about thirty seconds to a minute had passed, the note would turn to dust and flutter away, removing the only source of light and leaving him in absolute darkness. It was time to find his team. Round 2 had begun.

The young Denkou would wake up with his back to a wall, darkness pressing in around him. Well it was almost entirely dark however there was a faint light glowing from between his legs where he had ended up sitting, back pressed to a wall. The light was coming from a strange glowing note and there was a 'Yin' piece of an incomplete Yin-Yang pendant sitting on top of it. Dust surrounded him and breathing in would be scratchy and dry, eventually causing him to choke and cough if he wasn't careful, potentially making a lot of noise and dragging people towards him which was probably not what he wanted.

The note wouldn't last too long after being picked up and read through. After about thirty seconds to a minute had passed the note crumbled into dust and fluttered away, darkness engulfing the Denkou and leaving him to find his team in the pitch black. Round 2 had started.

Due to the nuisance of her gourd, Nyen would wake up not wearing it however it was next to her and she was slumped against it, almost using it like a pillow as she woke up. A faint light sat on it, a piece of paper held up by a chain that seemed to be part of a pendant but was missing the actual pieces. A wall sat at her back and one rose up to either side of her and dust covered everything making it difficult to breathe if she wasn't careful. It wasn't likely to kill her but it was going to eventually force her to cough or choke and attract people towards her with the noise which was probably going to be a bad idea.

After either tearing the paper off or reading it where it was and about thirty seconds to a minute later, the paper turned to dust and fluttered away, darkness engulfing Nyen and leaving her there in the pitch black to pull on her gourd and get moving. Round 2 had started.

When Colt woke up he was caught off guard by the darkness. He blinked several times to make sure it wasn't just his eyes, and he was right. He was in a place devoid of light. Well not devoid, he found a light emanating from his pocket. He pulled it out and examined the note, then the necklace. Round 2. He had made it. He wanted to cheer, but the note said that other teams were close. He used the light to look at his surroundings, having just enough time to see that the way in front of him was open before the note crumbled to dust. He cursed lightly and then took a deep breath, only to begin coughing and hacking. He calmed himself down, realizing how much noise that had made. He needed to go about this with stealth. He crouched low and used all of his training to mask the noises he made. He held his breath and pricked his ears in order to listen for approaching foot steps before standing again, yo-yos in hand, and walking forward as silent as death itself.

When she woke up she would notice that she not only had two items near her she hadn't had previously but one of them was actually glowing which would cause her to shift her position and quickly read the note before looking around trying to see where she was. She understood the instructions and would pull down her forehead protector and use it to cover her mouth tying it to the back of her head as securely as possible. From there she would slow her breathing and focus on the vibrations around her trying to see if their was any movement before making any actions, she wasn't too scared especially not after she touched the cap of her gourd resulting in galvorn particles emerging and pooling around her gourd. "Okay Itami, it looks like it's just you and me now we should try and find the others." she thought to herself not bothering to whisper since she wouldn't be able to see it's reply anyways thanks to the darkness and picking her her gourd once more placing it on her back while she stuffed the chain in her pocket for safe keeping. She knew the dimensions of the area though thanks to the brief interval with the dim light from the note and if she didn't feel any vibrations she would nod to herself before making her way to the wall and then using the wall walking technique to walk on it's surface so that she would be walking parallel with the ground somewhat high up. She did this for multiple reasons but mainly because that way maybe she might have less of a risk running into people.

"Nothing to do but go forward I guess." She thought to herself as she did just that albeit close to 15 ft off the ground due to walking along the wall.

Our poor genin would hit a trip wire as he moved forward causing it to snap, and a rumbling could be heard in the distance sure enough if he lingered around long enough said rumbling would only end up getting closer. The rumbling was made by a perfectly round boulder the size of a Medium L creature would come rolling after him moving at Bullet Release speeds, yet being a huge boulder it wouldn't be easy to stop not unless one was strong enough to halt such a large thing in place. Either way it seemed like where Colt was, was an incline thus if he wasn't able to escape it would probably only end up building up speed to eventually smash him against a wall. So he might want to get running, lest the world be down one less pervert.

Colt cursed mentally when he heard the wire snap. He mouthed the same curse when he heard the rumbling of whatever the hell it was they had attached to that wire. He assumed it was something big, he wouldn't doubt that it was a boulder or something. He took off down the slope, running as fast as he possibly could. He could tell he wasn't running fast enough, so he needed to either slow whatever it was that was chasing him down or find a way to speed up. He knew immediately which course to take. He tapped his chest with the back of his hand and immediately felt himself become lighter, and with this lightness came a speed boost that he desperately needed. He moved forward at Crashing Ground speed, doing his absolute best to get away from the rolling ball of death that was headed his way.

It was definitely a smart plan and it would help in the long run, and even in the short run. Moving up onto the wall, it was found that the walls weren't very thick but they were extremely dense, making them hilariously tough and hard to break through. However the vibrations traveled through just fine if a bit muted. Walking along the wall it wouldn't take too long to reach a massive opening in the wall, a doorway. It wasn't exactly very wide, maybe around seven feet so it'd be a little claustrophobic to walk around it but it wouldn't be too difficult.

Upon reaching the other side the maze seemed to move off either to Nyen's back, her perspective, or to her front from her position on the wall, it would be right or left had she been on the ground. As the pulses traveled forwards they seemed to be touched by another, someone was walking slowly down the corridor, carefully and they were on the ground. Would Nyen try and confront the person?

The boulder would continue rolling, having sped up as it's prey continued to elude it by means of sprinting for his life. As it rolled the sound of it smacking the ground could almost be taken for laughter if an inanimate object could in fact laugh, either way when it began to move faster it would seem Colt still managed to be faster than it though if only because upon lightening himself he had boosted his C-rank speed to B, still it would be only a matter of time before the boulder caught up. If only it was bright enough to see then perhaps he would be able to detect the path around him, then again if he had another method of sensory maybe he could use it to search of anything to get him out of his predicament. Which apparently he did, considering the rumbling was approaching behind him, the boulder was obviously very loud, if he could only figure out some way to notice the open corridor about 10 ft ahead of him to the east of his body perhaps he'd be able to escape certain death. Then again, what even was east to him, could he even tell in this pitch-black darkness?

Nyen would keep moving silently, until she got to the doorway causing her to crouch down and walk into it towards the vibrations she was hearing. It might be an enemy but at the same time it might be one of her teammates thus she decided to head towards it albeit slowing her movement considerably before holding her breath so that they couldn't hear her once they got closer. She wouldn't attack immediately she wanted to see who this person was and thus would sink into the wall using the Double Suicide Decapitation technique, she had a good detector of danger with her, as if she got too close and they not only detected her but tried to attack then Itami would protect her and that'll give her reason to duck underground and resurface pull them into the floor. "Please be Colt or Takahiro, the quicker I can find you two the better and I don't want to have to fight someone like that again.." she thought to herself as she wasn't calm in the slightest but at the same time she wasn't afraid. She had been afraid when fighting Orion, and that had damned R'tari she wouldn't be afraid anymore and she wouldn't hesitate to throw around lethal stuff if it meant winning. Not anymore, she wasn't just going to sit back and take it from anyone anymore now she'd be the one to taking initiative.

Unfortunately the person that walked forwards was not Colt or Takahiro. It was a random boy, young with dark, tanned skin and a pair of bone blades extended from his palms. He was snapping his head side to side as he walked down the corridor but it would seem that he definitely hadn't noticed Nyen where she was hiding. Perhaps he didn't have any vibration sensory of his own or maybe he was just too scared to even notice the discrepancy? Either way, Nyen could bring him down to try and disqualify the rest of his team unless they could find his body... Or she could continue onwards and leave him, try and find her team rather than possibly draw others in with the combat. Her choice.

"I'm sorry for this." Nyen thought to herself as the Galvorn particles comprising Itami would shift a bit almost in anticipation of movement letting her know that it wasn't someone friendly. It wasn't either of her teammates, so Nyen would make her decision ducking into the ground before emerging from underground underneath his body and pulling him underground with the same subtlety that she used to move around. Except rather than leave him with his head underground she would pull him all the way down until right below his eyes, so that he couldn't scream and alert someone else. She would emerge from the ground partially back at her original spot if everything went as planned while sending some of her Galvorn sand to cover his head to drain some of his chakra, hopefully he would quickly pass out from oxygen deprivation so she could pull him back out. Not completely, but just enough so that only his head was left out of the ground that way by the time he woke up from his "nap" she'd be long gone.

The poor Dakar didn't even know what was going on, one moment they were walking along just fine, navigating through gentle Air pulses coming from their bones due to the Wind Hybridization he possessed and the next he was dragged into the ground and suffocating. He didn't have any endurance tiers, so it only took a few seconds before he sagged unconscious. In that amount of time Nyen would have managed to steal 8 D-Ranks of chakra from him, stored in the Galvorn Particles. Now it was up to her to continue heading down the corridor. Upon the right hand wall to her position, much further on, she would find another opening just like the first 'doorway' that she had came through. Would she continue on or go through it?

Nyen would pause while a slow exhale as she had been holding her breath during her sudden confrontation and had forgotten to breath, with that breath she would calm herself down and try to listen for vibrations but if she heard none she would move her hands a bit, resulting in Iron sand flowing from her gourd and condensing into two figures, identical in looks to herself. She would wait, and use them to scout both in another doorway and the other moving forward while she would remain in place, her torso still in the ground as she waited for them to report back to her. Fortunately they didn't use up too much of her chakra, more so they utilized Iron Sand however she had enough of that to spare so she wasn't too bothered using up some for that purpose. Worst case scenario if they sprung a trap or encountered someone else they would disperse or get destroyed and she could always just make some more iron sand while she waited. The two Iron Sand clones would be directed forward by her moving her hands, her index and middle fingers of both hands making a walking motion to have them walk forwards though because she couldn't see they weren't nearly as fast as they should be.

"Let's see what else is in store for us Itami." she reasoned she wasn't talking to herself since Itami was close to her, she didn't know if it could read her mind but she knew that some how they had a connection after R'tari's death she just hadn't been with it long enough to fully explore that new bond. She would use the remaining iron sand to make a last clone bringing it to three iron sand clones in total which would go straight ahead while she remained in place using her index & middle fingers to guide the clones going to the left and right while using her thumbs to guide the clone moving straight ahead. That coupled with her vibration sensory would allow her to at least track from for a bit, and which ever was the safest she'd be able to proceed while still keeping tabs on the other clones as they remained within her sensory radius.

When Takahiro awoke he was still dreaming about the gas going out in the classroom which put him to sleep. Immediately he pulled off some of the cloth wrapped around Midas, but not all, and put it up to his mouth before he even registered the surroundings. It was no longer a classroom but complete darkness. The ground beneath him felt hard and there was but one source of light near him. He looked at it before reading through the note. Another annoying task to do. Takahiro was underground by the stuffiness of the air and the ground beneath him's density. This was going to be annoying as though his Dojutsu did allow him to see electrical impulses he was unsure if it would work through stone. So he decided to take a single route. He decided to bring everyone to him. First he would stand and pull out his new Denki Nodachi given to him by his mother. Then he would tap the ground beneath him before taking a deep breath through the cloth. And finally, he yelled as loud as he can before ducking down as low as he could go. COLT! NYEN! OVER HERE!" he would yell, the walls would obviously echo a bit but the echo itself would give good sign of his general direction. As he waited for any reply in a knelt position, sword at the ready in case something happened, he would listen carefully. He not only used his echo to inform his teammates and lure in enemies, but it would also help him figure out the layout around him by following the sound of the echo itself. This would allow im to determine any open passages near him or if there was even a roof.

The first of the clones, the one that walked straight ahead would just slam into a dead end eventually, it would seem that there was absolutely nothing that way, not even another doorway. Good thing she had sent the clone onwards then, it saved backtracking. The main issue would be the clone that stepped out into the next corridor and went left. It went for a good twenty five feet before it was more than likely vapourised. A series of explosive tags, equal in power to B-Rank, detonated from either side of the wall, pumping the corridor full of additional dust. Good thing that Nyen was out of the way of it.

The other clone just continued walking down the corridor, this one was rather long and it didn't seem to come in contact with anything as of yet...

The sound reverberated but there was no response. It would seem no one had actually heard him. If he listened closely there was a strange rumbling noise but that was about it. How long was he going to wait though before he headed off into the maze to try and find his friends? The corridor stretched out in front of him, although he wouldn't be able to see it of course due to the darkness surrounding him. Hopefully he would choose something to do rather than wait around and do nothing. Other than that, it was up to him... What was Takahiro going to do now?

Colt was running through every ability he had in order to try and figure out how to avoid this boulder. He kicked himself when he realized it. He focused his listening more, keying in on the echoes the boulder created. The echo extended for a long while down a pathway to the east of his location. He moved towards it and slipped into the corridor, hearing the boulder rumble past. He stopped and placed his hands on his knees, his back resting against the wall. He took a breath of dust and tried to stifle his coughing. He knew it might be a waste of chakra, but he needed to breathe. He turned down the corridor and performed a few handseals before breathing out a large gust of wind down the corridor. This cleared the dust up until 40ft down the tunnel, Colt standing and breathing the, hopefully, clear air. He walked down it, periodically snapping in order to hear the echo down any side corridors that may be near.

Hmm, nothing besides the strong noise. It was worth investigating but first he needed to be sure if his dojutsu could see through the earthen walls or if anyone was even nearby but being quiet. He decided to activate the minimal stage of his Dojutsu, Stage 1, which would still give him the electral impulse detection effect. His eyes went from bitch black to a light blue as he would then scan the area to see if he could even see a thing. If he couldn't he had one last thing to try, but would prefer not to do it as it would be a bit risky. He didn't want to accidentally get assassinated right off the bat after all. Once his Dojutsu was active he would try to use its ability to pick up electrical impulses to try and find out what was going on around him.

Of course being surrounded by rock, there were no electrical impulses anywhere nearby. He wouldn't be able to see through the walls as they were far too thick and generally even thin walls could block sensory like that. If he decided to move forwards there would be an opening in the right hand wall that he could go through if he so chose to. After a few seconds however, the rumbling noise turned into a gargantuan crash, vibrations bolting through the surroundings as though something heavy had just struck something very solid. Would he go and investigate the noise? The echoes seemed to be coming from the doorway... Or would he go straight ahead?

The wind release below would alert someone who had merely been minding their business walking down the hall, unfortunately they were struck and would end up going flying before hitting a wall. "Oof. Whoze da basterd who did that eh?" A male voice rang out in reply to the sudden knock back. Shaking his head in annoyance the person would get up from the ground and begin to run forward towards the source of whatever it was that had just hit them. As the person got closer it only revealed that this person was massive, not muscular no, just in height and girth a truly mountain of a man a mountain of lard that is. He would continue forward before lunging forward at C-rank speeds surprisingly fast for his size, albeit not by much and attempting to grab Colt's face so that he could slam him into the wall and hold him there.

"Your sacrifice won't be in vain Clone Me" Nyen thought some what solemnly before repressing a giggle. Three paths and only one of them had been safe, she would cause the dead end clone to come back, while frowning at the loss of the other one though she had taken that risk on purpose she'd be able to eventually make more iron sand to recover her losses. Her life though wasn't something replaceable, on the other hand she would continue after the last iron clone with herself moving along the wall when her iron sand clone that she had sent to the dead end caught up. This way it would be a distraction in case someone she didn't know eventually came around, fortunately she could make it sneak around and it didn't need to breathe so that was an added bonus. Worst case scenario it'd at least buy her time during an ambush if she didn't re purpose it for it's materia, she would keep her ears and vibration sense peeled so that she could either feel or hear anything approaching her. This way she had a scout all the way in front of her yet still within her vibration sensory so that she could keep track of it and if anyone did manage to take our her Iron Sand - Clone then the other one could most likely serve as an additional diversion as they'd probably think that it was the original.

Takahiro deactivated his Dojutsu and cursed as he couldn't see anything. He was about to try and go forward but when the crash sounded he would stop. There was obviously more people down here and no one had seemed to heard him. That noise was conspicuous but maybe it was one of his allies. Takahiro cursed himself at not being prepared with better sensory but he decided to do something. It may give him away but it should also give him a good source of light. He concentrated his chakra flow into his sword, using Electro Blade to course lightning release chakra through his Denki Nodachi. The light from the lightning coursing through it should give him a good amount to see from and with that he would carefully begin heading towards the source of the crash, keeping his eyes peeled for any movement and any reflections from eyes or weapons.

As Hiro moved he would unknowing step on a pressure plate, and just as suddenly the walls would shift before opening revealing holes which would do nothing, merely waiting. The openings on the walls would stretch over 20 feet though it was a trap exactly what the trap was could not be determined. That is unless Hiro reflexively moved once he stepped on the pressure plate which would end up causing four senbon, two from each wall to burst out at high speeds aimed to pierce his skin and pepper his body with needles. It seemed like a simple trap but in this darkness nothing was simple, especially for people who couldn't see in the dark, it was fortunate on his part then that he had bothered to make himself a light.

Takahiro would stop as he felt his foot sink a little with the step. He had luckily been walking slow enough out of precaution to notice the dip otherwise if he had been going at a normal pace he would have potentially missed it. He heard the sound of stone grinding against stone as something opened nearby. He knew it was a trap and waited for something similar to the noise he heard earlier, which meant nothing. There was also nothing popping out of the ground and the walls werent crashing in toward him. According to old movies, usually if those werent the case then there must have been something in the walls themselves. He took a deep breath, as he luckily had a technique to deal with multiple incoming attacks at once. Hopefully this was what is was though. He waited a second to gain his concentration before he stepped off the plate, pivoting on his other leg to swing his Nodachi enhanced with the Electro Blade in a full circle utilizing the Eclipse Whirlwind technique of the Denkou clan's signature Kenjutsu style. He would spin at crashing ground speeds, his blade whipping through the air like an artist as he crouched to lower his own target points and increase his defending points.

As he took a deep breath a loud boom would ring out, apparently emanating from the corridor that he didn't in fact take when he had chosen this one instead. Still his sudden rush forward would cause the senbon to shoot out, but as he kept moving more senbon would shoot out from the walls each apparently attune to his movement and would punish him for continuing to head forward. It was as if the senbon knew where he was going before he went there, but that wasn't the case merely when the trap maker made such a deadly trap he or she had an idea of the usual method people would take to try and escape the trap and prepared accordingly. Thus while the senbon didn't go any faster, it did mean that someone who merely moved forward would be skewered by them all the same. Takahiro though he was somewhat more prepared than the usual ones managing to spin and deflect two of the senbon while another two flew overhead missing each other and each flying straight into another hole on the opposite wall before flying out again. Back and forth thus whatever he didn't manage to deflect with his blade remained a hazard for all of those coming after him. Once the immediate danger was cleared did he continue forward or would the loud explosion distract him enough to make him pause.

After moving down the corridor in the opposite direction from the explosion, Nyen would come across some rather odd noises. The first would be a quiet crackling, then a soft click and the sound of metal spanking off of metal and clattering to the ground. The clone ahead of her would see the indents in the wall and the odd glowing from the other side of the doorway, illuminating a figure there. Hopefully Takahiro wouldn't move on before the real Nyen could catch up and make him stop, depended on whether or not he took a break after triggering his own trap...

Just before however, Nyen would have felt through her vibration sensory, and definitely heard, a massive impact resounding apparently off to her left and ahead, north-west if she used directly ahead as north on a compass. The impact was fairly solid, stone on stone, and seemed heavy. Hopefully it hadn't heralded someone's death.

Nyen would keep moving and as a result so would her clone which would keep moving forward unhindered by the threat of well whatever was around it. While Iron Sand clones weren't much for the way of intelligence they made up for it by being versatile and more importantly durable, thus it would keep moving forward not wary of traps as that was it's purpose to scout ahead for her while the real Nyen moved about twenty or so feet behind it. Simply because her other Iron Sand clone was about ten feet in front of her, forming a perimeter seeing as she would detect someone incoming with vibrations so she wouldn't get caught off guard from behind. She had thought about making a third iron sand clone but didn't want to waste her chakra as she had no idea what the next round entailed and even if it was just a minuscule amount it even a bit could prove useful to someone like her.

Kaironokuma were unparalleled in the art of utilizing their iron sand repeatedly after all their use of materia was so profound that so long as the medium that their chakra was manipulating wasn't destroyed they could easily shift from form to form. Something that she had made heavy use of during her fight with Orion and though she came to that realization late in the fight it had stuck with her even now. A sudden noise and a loud thump would distract her from her thoughts as she could feel the reverberations which indicated that something rather large had crashed into something. "I wonder what that was...I should send a clone to check it out at the very least when I get there." she thought to herself and with that she would send the clone in front of her not the the one far in front but, the one in between so that it could go in that direction when the opportunity came forth.

Takahiro hadn't moved forward and had managed to deflect two of the attacks, however he stayed low as he could hear the whistling of multiple senbon cutting through the air above him. Takahiro was surprised to find a trap like this somewhat, but he was unsure of what to do now. He could keep going forward to investigate the first sound or go backwards and investigate the new one. He really hated not having sensory good enough for seeing through these things, but there was nothing he could do now. He looked forward then back as the kunai above him still went on overhead. Every trap had a way to stop it. And there could be more traps ahead or behind after this trigger. He wasnt sure. He used the Electro Blade to try and cut out pieces of the earth next to him, skipping one in each direction to try and trigger anything else before he would take his attention to the pressure switch that had triggered the attack. If there was nothing noticeable to it he would then try using his Nodachi to cut it out to investigate whatever was inside to see if a jutsu or a mechanism was causing this.

Due to Takahiro's hesitance in what he was doing and the time he was taking to try and carve away the stone, which wasn't working. The rock was almost too dense to be cut at all, it would take some serious damage in order to cleave through these walls and what he was doing just wasn't cutting it. However what it did allow to happen would be for a certain young Kaironokuma to catch up to him. The glow from the blade would illuminate the first Iron Sand clone and then very quickly illuminate Nyen just behind that as she stepped into view.

So it would seem that two of them had met up and now only had one person to find in order to make it out of here! The plinking of metal would now be obvious as the trap was in full light, thankfully Takahiro was out of the way.

Nyen would keep moving with her body still partially in the wall and parallel to the ground if about fifteen feet above the floor though when she saw the light and with that the grooves she would move so that she would hang upside down and kept moving. "Found you." she said happily but outwardly her face was still a stoic mask while her Iron Sand Clones would fall for the trap but unless those senbon had high enough damage they weren't going to do much to them seeing as they didn't have organs. As for Nyen herself Itami easily would protect her from the incoming senbon after all both of them knew it was coming and now that she could see she could move her sand far faster just relying on her eyesight while her hands remained at the sides of her body. They too were sunken into the stone despite her still moving her iron sand clones she had kept them like that on the off chance she met someone who bypassed her sensory that way she at least wouldn't be too exposed beyond her shoulders and above. "You know, these senbon might be useful now that they aren't trying to kill us, I don't have space for them but you could have them?"
