[Grassland South Quadrant] King of the Jungle (Hokkai Mini-Plot)

King woke up stretching yet not making another sound as he awoke in the branches of one of the trees which formed a ring around the Grasslands. It had been a tough journey even getting to the Dobutsu Badlands it seemed like weeks had passed since he had left the Imperial Continent banished from the clan in order to seek Dobutsu in order to rejoin the Hokkai Clan. He would look down seeing Polaris as he had begun to call her also asleep in her origin form, her body peaceful yet in a position to spring to action at a moments notice though not many predators would dare cross an adult Zinogre no matter how small she was in comparison to others then again she had always been a runt even as a cub. As he stretched her ears would perk up and she would remove the paw covering her snout one of her eyes opening even though the light in the area. She'd get up stretching with a yawn while King would roll over from his tree before dropping onto her back Polaris not even burdened by the additional weight.

I guess it's time to begin the search again. King said through the pack bond with Polaris baring her teeth as she truly hated being here but before comply sniffing the air. The both of them were quite hungry as well they hadn't brought anything but what they needed as the added weight would just burden them. Wolf would look up her own eyesight not even allowing her to just barely pick up the faint rays of the crescent moonlight from above which never could make it to the ground due to the branches and leaves blotting out most of the light. When they stepped out from under the branches of the tree into the grassland both could feel the rain falling from the sky it wasn't heavy more like a drizzle if anything yet it was calming if not that it washed away scent trails and made it slightly harder to hear. It was both good and bad but such was life in the Forsaken, Polaris would walk forward in search of something though she would step on something with her paw causing her to look down before sniffing it picking up a distinct metallic scent it seems they stumbled upon something metallic in nature but it wasn't food and thus she would just move on as it wasn't worth either of their time. Hopefully if we are lucky we could come across a nice juicy bullfango or something. Polaris said back through the pack bond, both of them having refrained from actually speaking since they got to the land of Forsaken as the animals here had learned to adapt to lacking sight with enhanced other senses no need to get into fights for no reason. They would continue on they needed to get deeper into the southern quadrant most likely the animals and creatures weren't lingering around the edge due to it being close to the southern coast, instead they would be farther north in the heart of the land.

About 30 minutes later they wer now travelling upward from the beginning of the south quadrant in search of not only food but signs of Dobutsu neither of them being happened upon since then. Still nothing, someone is out of touch with hunting. King said only for Polaris to growl lowly as a warning causing him to reach out and rub her back to calm her down as he realized she wasn't in a joking mood then again she rarely was when she was hungry. We will find something soon. she replied back though the pack bond as she tried using her nose to pick up any sort of scent at this point she didn't mind having to fight a little for food. She had adapted honing her own senses as it wasn't as if she hadn't been born within the Land of Forsaken she was just a little rusty for not having been here in a couple of months it was like swimming once you learn you just need a bit of time before your back to swimming once more.

It watched carefully, examining the pair from afar. The human was with a zinogre, curious. Can't get too close, and at its current location they would never smell it. Too low to the ground and down wind. The perfect combination to keep the human's zinogre from finding it. From what it could the Zinogre was useless anyway sniffing constantly...hunting...poorly. This would be quick and easy, the game in the immediate vicinity had already been either hunted or ran off by it days before. They'd be weak when they were hungry, and once they were weak it would strike. Soon it thought, it's claws digging deep within the cool earth beneath it, soon.

Still nothing... Wolf said through the pack bond King easily sensing that she was irritated and would use his palms to rub circles into her back to calm her down. It worked for the most part but even he was agitated. We will find food shortly it's fine, we should instead concentrate on moving up north, we right now we are in the south quadrant, but the south of the Forsaken was always a dangerous place in general. King said back to her through the pack bond causing Wolf to nod and begin to move faster through the pitch black area using mainly her nose to orientate herself, the smells were different but she could tell where she had been before and thus was heading in the direction she smelled new things. Both of them were unwary of the predator hunting them then again the Land of the Forsaken was notorious for that a constant game of cat and mouse which at anytime the hunter could become the hunted.
