Chunin Exams Round 2 [Duststorm Maze - Calesto/Liara-Takeshi]

Darkness would surround the Shinto as she opened her eyes, cloying void surrounding her apart from a strange faint light that came from her pocket. A wall sat at her back and one sat to her left and one in front of her, it would seem she was against one of the lateral sides of a long corridor, her only way to go was to the right. Dust covered everything and would make it hard to breathe, eventually forcing coughing and spluttering and potentially bringing people to her position, perhaps not the people she wanted to come towards her.

Upon removing the glowing light from her pocket she'd also have a pendant chain although it was missing the actual pendant and the note would explain why. After about thirty seconds to a minute the note would turn to dust and float away, the light vanishing and leaving Liara trapped in darkness to find her team. Round 2 was underway.

A wall sat at his back and one sat to his left and one in front of him, it would seem he was against one of the lateral sides of a long corridor, his only way to go was to the right. Dust covered everything and would have made it difficult to breathe in these situations if it wasn't for the fact that he was an Entity and breathing wasn't really an issue. Only the darkness would be really. Takeshi was quite the lucky one in these exams then.

Calesto would wake up slumped against the wall, only seeing a small glimmer of light from a note that was in his pocket. So he would reach into his pocket and pull out it out along with an odd looking pendant, to which after reading the note he knew that he would have to find his team as quickly as possible. Thankfully due to the amount of time he had spent with Liara he was able to instantly pick up her scent instantly, along with the people who had attended the funeral of R'tari. This caused a grin to come across his face as he had torn off a piece of his shirt in order to wrap it around his mouth so at least he wouldn't be breathing in a lot of the dust that was around. He would stand up while keeping his eyes closed so he could capitalize on being in this environment, and one he was standing he would start moving at swift speeds down the right side of the corridor, keeping his remaining other 5 senses alert with his vision being impaired. He just hoped that Liara and Takeshi were able to navigate in these surroundings.

Well, this is going to be a pain in the ass. Takeshi thought as he watched the paper disintegrate before his eyes. He assumed the reason why he was here was because he had passed the first round, then again maybe he had failed and they were looking to see whether or not he would survive this round. Well, he was most likely not making this his tomb so he would first see if it was possible to go through the walls, more specifically the right wall, by hitting the surface with his elbow as he didn’t want to touch the surface with his bare hands. If he was unable to do so he would place one of the many tags that Mujin had given him on their travel to Haka on the wall that was to his back before moving forward at swift release speeds.

As it happened, Takeshi was fully able to walk through the wall, it was quite lucky for him. He didn't know his position but there were certain walls that couldn't be moved through but others that were fine for it. Moving through the wall would reveal nothing but darkness, a wall to his right, a wall ahead of him and blank space to his left hand side. Still no sign of anyone nearby, where would the young Entity choose to go next?

Takeshi was now a bit skeptical since he was able to phase through the wall, surely they knew that he was an Entity so he had expected them to take the necessary precautions to prevent him from doing something like this. Then again, maybe that’s exactly what they wanted to happen. He wouldn’t put it past these people that were hosting these exams after all this was entertainment for them. Unsure of where to go due to the complete darkness around him, Takeshi would gather a small amount of chakra in his left hand, which would begin to pulsate with a grey light which would reveal the walls and the empty space before him. Curious about what was in the empty space to the left of him, he would fire a beam of grey light down the blank space. Hopefully, it would reveal any traps, enemies or something of interest.

The light would reveal the walls around him and it would seem not much more. Just ahead it looked as though the wall clipped in slightly, as though there was some kind of doorway there. Takeshi could choose to go and investigate that and maybe see if the corridor continued down that way or he could try and move through the wall again and continue onwards in that direction to see if he could meet up with his teammates. All up to Takeshi now with what he wanted to do with this new information...

A girl was walking down the exact corridor that Calesto just so happened to be running down. This girl's scent would be strange to him, much different from Liara's, though she was close by. She had been listening very closely to her surroundings, as usual. She was used to the darkness that was surrounding her, one of the "perks" of being blind. Well it was an actual perk, since her hearing was far above top notch, as she had trained it vigorously. That was why, despite the others attempt to hide his movements, she heard them, grabbing the hilt of her katana in preparation. She stilled herself and made sure that her presence wouldn't be too obvious. Or at least she tried to, of course she had no idea how many sensory techniques the person coming up to her had. When she heard the foot steps come close, she pulled her katana free at Bullet Release speeds, slashing forward towards the footsteps. She didn't know how wide this corridor was, so she also applied her Displacement Aura. She was looking to finish this quickly and cleanly.

Caleto was about twenty feet away when he came to a stop from his run, his grin still upon his face hidden behind the torn cloth. The girl in front of him was defiantly not his team mate, although her scent was enough to tell him that the girl did have a unique taste in perfume. "I've got no quarrel with you little lady" He said as he heard the sound of the katana being drawn from it's sheath, he was safe however being twenty feet away from his opponent, this was when he was able to hear the wind being displaced from a few feet beyond the sword. Okay so the girl was a Cypher with some decent sensory skills, guess he would have to do a better job at disposing of this girl than the twins from back in Madness. "If you put the sword away I'll be more then happy to help you find the rest of your team, that is unless you're dead set on fighting me here"

The girl sheathed her blade after her failed attack. She could tell were he was, but the question was about whether or not she wanted to engage him. She could find her teammates with him, or she could fight here and be held up. She bit her bottom lip before speaking "Fine. But let's both promise no surprise attacks on each other." She stood up fully and walked forward a bit "But if you do attack me, try to finish it quick." Her voice was cold as she spoke "If you don't, then I may have to take your head."

Calesto couldnt help but let out a laugh when the girl had ended up agreeing to play it cool for the time being, only if there was a deal not to attack each other in surprise. "You don't need to worry about me trying anything funny" He said walking towards the girl, trying his best not to trigger any traps within the corridor. "Judging by your swing back there I'd have to guess your a cypher right? Along with some good sensory skills if your able to hear me moving through these halls" With that he would take the girls arm and put it on his shoulder so he could lead her through the maze they were all placed in. "Any idea's on what your team is like? Smells, mannerisms, shit like that? Would make things easier for me in finding them for you"

Though he was quite interested in what exactly was down that corridor he wasn’t here to explore, he needed to find his teammates so that they could exit this place as quickly as possible. So of course, his next move would be to go through one of those walls, the question was which? After a few seconds of thinking he had decided to go through the right wall hopefully, he would end up either outside this place or with one of his teammates.

She let the other place her hand on his shoulder, grateful for the guide. She focused a bit on listening for her teammates or anyone else walking down the corridors "I am a Cypher. But, my sensory ability is tied to my hearing. I am blind, so I use my hearing in order to locate my enemies." She swiveled her head back and forth in order to catch any sounds completely "My teammates are my sisters. Shiani loves the scent of lilac, so she wears it a lot. Ivanni loves sweets, so she usually has a bunch of them with her at a time. If you can pick up on that, then we'd be able to find them." She looked at him, though she couldn't really see him "My name is Marissa. Marissa Jiko. What's yours? I think we should know each other's names if we're going to be helping one another." She adjusted the Gunbai upon her back in order to make it more comfortable for her to carry.

"Lilac's and sweets, got it" Calesto said with a grin as he felt the girl start to relax around him, and would continue walking down the corridor. He was about to start whistling so the sounds would give the two a better sense of their surroundings, that was until the girl had introduced herself as a member of the Jiko clan. "The Jiko eh? How's your clan doing with it's heir just up and leaving like he did, causing the death of someone who was meant to retrieve him?" It was after speaking that he realized that he may have gone a bit too far in his question, but to be honest it was in the back of his mind after the events of the last mission he was on. "Sorry, that was rude of me to ask, My name is Calesto Kurogane. Hunter Tracker Extraordinaire"

Unfortunately for Takeshi not all walls were easily traveled through, this wall in particular had an electric current running through it courtesy of another trap somewhere in this horrible maze, thus rather than get the full brunt of the trap he would only get about half of it resulting in an electric shock passing through his body. It was pretty painful as not only would he be electrocuted but likewise if he kept contact with it he'd sustain C-rank pain, of course that was only if he decided not to go back but instead keep going through it taking advantage of the lightning being disrupted due to his body. He was lucky though, the real trap was far worse not only would he of been electrocuted far more painfully but likewise he would be paralyzed in place helpless as the pain eventually drove him insane.

As Takeshi phased through the wall, he would immediately feel the sharp pain of electricity flowing through his body. Of course, the wall had some kind of trap and since he didn’t have any means of countering said trap he had to sustain the assault to his nerves. He wouldn’t pull back however as he would willing sustain the full force of the damage so that he could pass through the wall. Whether or not this was a good idea he didn’t know but hey let’s see what happens.

Just like before, the corridor he was in just had a doorway on the other wall, obviously the one he hadn't went through, perhaps the trap he had managed to actually avoid? Either way, the only other difference here would be that there were soft noises, echoes, perhaps words? It was unclear but there was something happening nearby. So it was up to Takeshi, would he try going through the walls again or would he continue down the corridor to see if he could find anything?

Waking up, liara wasn't too sure what to make of this place. "h-huh?" liara looked around in confusion as a note from one of the puzzle pieces revealed itself. After reading it, it seemed that she was forwarded to the second part of the test. Which was fine by her, she didn't need her test scores thrown back at her face in order to prove how stupid she was. "Right now, we are in a bit of trouble......" Liara would say as she got up. "Cough cough..... "This wasn't good, dust was all over the area. She needed her friends for this.She had no cloth beloning to calesto or takeshi, couldnt see that well, which made this difficult. Liara went to the right.

The darkness was complete, almost impossible to see anything although it would be easy enough to touch the walls to make sure that nothing was missed and to keep her orientation. After about twenty or so feet ahead there was a doorway to the right hand side, a large slice taken out of the wall about seven feet wide, blackness yawning there as it led into the next corridor. Would she take that way or would she continue onwards into the darkness before her?

Liara couldn't necessarily see, but she was simple enough to fall for something as simple as a doorway. "This must be a shortcut or something?" Liara would mumble to herself as she felt up the doorway and decided to take a chance with it, entering into the unknown. Maybe it was a bit risky, but liara was practically in the dark, on top of the fact that she didn't know any sort of fire style jutsu . "I just have to trust my instincts, just like calesto does. "Ok, not the best role model, but calesto has some good instincts sometimes, right?

As it happened, when she walked through the doorway nothing would happen, no traps or anything like that. Due to her slow start and careful movements she had also been going pretty slow so she missed a potential ambush as well. There were two voices just down the corridor that she had entered, neither of them really bothering to actually keep their voices down it would seem. One of the voices was new, female. The other was very, very familiar, a boy called Calesto. Perhaps Liara would like to head forwards to see him?

Maybe that was calesto up ahead, and to be sure, liara decided to do something kind of slick. "Bzzzt bzzzt...." Now, who would actually understand what the fuck liara was saying? Was it french or something? No way. however, as Liara would carefully walk forward, her shinto language would actually translate to the bees that were actually inside of calesto. If that really was calesto, due to the fact that he had boneswax with the primary bee hive that he is holding for liara combination jutsu, they would of went off to find her, tugging calesto towards her direction if it really was him.

Calesto would hear the bugs within his body would start reacting to Liara who he was able to smell coming towards him for a while now, and would look in the direction that his team mate was coming from. "Hey Liara, just over here. I was on my way to come find you when this girl here came across me. Just trying to help her find her siblings" Calesto would say with a smile before tearing a piece of cloth from his shirt and tossed it to Liara, hopefully she would get the hint and cover her mouth and nose so she would be somewhat protected from the dust in the air. "Marissa, meet my team mate Liara, Liara, say hello to Marissa"

Liara went on over to calesto. "Calesoto san * cough, cough*" She has been coughing like that for a while actually, she wondered if she was getting sick and started to catch another cold or something. That would be unfortunate if she caught something and couldn't pass the exams because of it. Though, after heading on over to calesto, she would kind of noticed that he was with someone. "Cough, oh....." She was handed the cloth to cover her mouth and she basically took a bow and introduced himself. "H-hello.......thanks for helping my friend......" She would say a bit shyly, the dark was a scary and she wanted as much peace as possible if she could help it this time around.

Marissa nodded in the direction of the female voice "It is truly a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Liara. You have a truly beautiful voice." She gave a smile, but she doubted the girl could see it. She had tried her best not to dwell on what the male had said, but it kept echoing and bouncing around in her head "Oh, and Calesto, was it?" Where her voice was warm and welcoming when she addressed Liara, it had turned frigid as she spoke to Cal "I assure you my entire clan is aware of what he did. We have renounced him as our heir and we mourn the death of R'tari as much as anyone. He didn't deserve that..." She cleared her throat a bit and lifted her head to stare off into the distance, even though her eyes could not see "I have made it my mission to hunt down that traitor and bring him back for justice, one way or another. And if I don't succeed, I'll die trying." And with that, she was silent and still, turning her attention to listening for danger.

Calesto would grin again as the two had greeted each other so politely, and would reach out and take hold of Liara's hand to place it on his shoulder. Now that he had found his first team mate, it was time to find Takeshi and possibly Marissa's family. He was about to start walking when Marissa had started to talk about how the traitor had caused so much turmoil, and how she had planned on hunting him down to bring him back to the ASN. This caused the boy to let out a small laugh as he started to walk down the corridor. "Well then, if you ever need or want help on bringing him back, I'd be more than happy to hunting him down again. Still have his scent memorized to be perfectly honest"
