Silence filled the room bar the sound of a pencil scratching against paper. When you thought as fast as Seiko did, pens were too unreliable and you couldn’t erase mistakes that easily. She paused and tapped the pencil against the table, looking at the design she was drawing. She had seen the next level of Golems and she didn’t like them very much at all, they were too small, they looked frail even though they weren’t. Who wanted to fight alongside children? She clicked her tongue and erased a few lines, going back to drawing, the armour had to be thicker, they had to look imposing. Could she attach a genjutsu to them to cause fear auras or was she going too far with that?
She was then interrupted by her room door being knocked on. She put her pencil down and walked to the door, unlocking it and pulling it open. She looked up at her mother, the heavily muscled woman giving her a massive smile. “Hey there kiddo! So I was snooping around ‘cause I thought you’d be a bit bored cooped up in your room all the time…” She wasn’t of course but she was happy to let her mother think that. “…I took the liberty of asking around some of my pals and they said that a few missions have came in.”
A soft sigh left Seiko’s mouth and she adjusted her glasses. “Mother, I told you, I won’t do D-Rank missions anymore. They are beneath me and my skills.” This only caused her mum to grin wider and ruffle her hair… Oh how Seiko hated that, she quickly fixed it.
“That’s just fine because the missions are C-Rank, so you’ll have plenty to do. I know you’re just like your ma and you love to go out and help around the village, I remember all those D-Rank missions you done, I was so damn proud.” She turned away for a moment, sniffling to hold back proud tears. Seiko had only done those missions to get her mum off her back… And also to buy some scrap metal so that she could figure out Golem shells in physical form to perfect the technique as quickly as possible. She didn’t want to dash her mother’s hopes however, so she kept quiet for a moment before rolling her eyes and nodding.
“At least it will get me out of the house for a while. It is difficult trying to get the design alterations for Golems done, I hate how they are.” Her mother nodded and patted her on the back as she picked up her stuff and left to head down and pick up a mission. She got there in good time, her training had been doing her well, usually she just let her golems do everything but she’d been told off for that by several people she at least pretended to respect, so she had been running more places as of recent.
The door swung open and she nodded to the receptionist. “A C-Rank mission, yes, I am a Genin.” She held up her forehead protector and then put it back in her pocket, she didn’t like wearing it. The receptionist just shrugged and looked through his papers before holding out a piece of paper to her. Seiko took it and read it over. Apparently this person wanted some stone? They had a dedicated drop off point and a marker for where the stone was and what it looked like, the strata was what interested the person, apparently it was just normal granite with unique markings. Well that sounded simple enough.
The threat of Kunchuu didn’t faze her at all, she was more than capable of murdering small beasts like that. This was a bit of a longer walk however and wanted to read the plans properly so she summoned a Golem and climbed up onto its shoulders, sitting down and looking at the paper in her hands. Before she knew it, she had drawn several battle plans for how to deal with the Kunchuu and had already made it to the boulder she was supposed to lift. Sure enough, the strata matched what she had been told.
Seiko hopped down and then summoned a Lightning Sentinel. She knew that Kunchuu had strong exoskeletons but they weren’t too resistant to chakra based strikes and due to the nature of the Sentinels, they’d be better off. She sent her golem forwards towards the boulder and sure enough, three angry looking shelled creatures crawled out of the sand and started to wave about threateningly. With a flick of the fingers, the Sentinel dashed forwards and carved the first in half. It squealed as its flesh was seared and its shell was cracked open by the lightning blade. It flipped over and died quickly. The other two rolled up and launched themselves forwards. The first aimed at the Golem who simply smashed it into the ground, not hurting it but holding it in place for a blade of pure lightning to pierce through its spine.
The other aimed at Seiko and she hopped to the side, letting it roll past her. Her hands struck the ground and rock leaped upwards, trapping the Kunchuu in a small earth prison cell. She turned and moved back towards her Golem and Sentinel whom she had set to kill any others that showed up and they had done so well, burned shell and squealing beast parts littered the ground. The Sentinel was fine but the Golem was scuffed a bit. She removed her Sentinel and summoned another Golem before pointing at the Boulder. Both stepped forwards and picked it up, carrying it easily between them. She then turned and moved to the drop point, checking her interface quickly and looking at the boulder to make sure that it was in one piece and it was… Magnificent.
She dropped it off, spoke to the man that showed up to retrieve it, got her payment and then left, walking home and clicking her fingers, Golems disappearing into her storage space. Job well done.
