Gift of The Goddess [Minarai Castle]

“Nice choice of décor.” Hiro said to himself as he stood at the entrance of Minarai Castle. Even though Minarai Castle was the main place for young Apprentice Knights like himself to learn new techniques and duke it out with each other, he often opted to stick at home and train in his backyard, he hated crowds. But the main reason why he was actually here was due to him being summoned by the head scholars to receive the blessing of Carmen, whatever that was, and of course he couldn’t say no after all he had enrolled in Carmen’s army and it was pretty much too late to back out of it now.

As if taking a leisurely stroll through the park, Hiro slowly made his way across the bridge and into the castle where he would realize he had no idea where he was actually going. Pulling out the piece of paper that was addressed to him he had scanned it thoroughly this time until he found some sort of directions and when he did made his way to what seeming what was the largest room in the entire castle. “Yo? Anyone home?” He called out.

The room was dark, only six lights seemed to glow in the distance, around twenty five feet in the air. They were tiny and red and they all seemed to be pointed towards Hiro as he stepped into the room, the door closing over behind him and sealing him in. The red lights then vanished for a fraction of a second before appearing much lower and much closer to Hiro, spreading out with one to his forward left, one straight ahead and one to the forward right. With the closer proximity it would be obvious that these lights were eyes and then the first voice spoke out. "Child of Carmen..." It was husky and dry, ancient, stepped in wisdom and age and the second was just the same. "...You come to us..." The third, identical, came immediately after. "...To receive a blessing."

Soon after this multiple panels lit up around Hiro's feet, each of them inscribed with a picture. The first was of a humanoid figure with rubies inset into the eyes and long bat-like wings stretching from their back; the vampire. The second appeared like a hybrid of a canine and a human, fur across the skin and sharp teeth bared at an unseen threat;the Werewolf. The next was a human wielding a staff, a large sapphire orb held in the other hand and energy streaming around their form; the Magician. The next was of a horrific beast, horned and tailed, beclawed and befanged, eyes of malice staring upwards at Hiro; the Demon. Next to this one was a creature of the same vein but more lithe, more sensual almost, sending thrills down the spine just from the heated gaze; the Incubus. Next came a shambling form, paper of exquisite quality sheathing its body and exposing no flesh; the Mummy. Lastly was a hybrid of bird and human, feathers covering the legs and wings stretching from the back, beady eyes staring upwards, eyes of onyx; the Harpy.

"Step forwards..." "...Choose...." "...Your fate."

In all honest Hiro wasn’t the least bit surprised at the fact that the door had somehow managed to shut behind him after all the entire castle seemed as if it had popped out of some horror movie. With a shrug of his shoulders he would step forward when the voices called out to him, apparently the reason he had been summoned here today was to receive the blessing of Carmen, which sounded pretty interesting, though he would probably settle for some cash anything that was a gift from the God Queen herself would be pretty awesome.

When he was just about to ask the three whatever they were inside the room to turn some light on so he could see where he was going, multiple panels started going off below him revealing all sorts of monstrosities. Was this the gift that Carmen would grant him? To turn him into a monster? That was disappointing, seems like he should’ve probably ignored that letter that was sent to him. With his exit sealed and the three beady eyes peering at him from a distance he had no escape and of course rejecting something that Carmen would grant him would probably spell the immediate end of him and his love ones, how troublesome. With no choice he would have to pick the coolest looking one out of the lot which would be the Magician.

The Crones done nothing but watch him as he decided on what to do. A lot of people took quite a while to decide which of the blessings that they wished for... Some even tried to fight or escape rather than become a monster but there was never truly a choice... Although at least someone had chosen a blessing that wasn't one of the common three; the vampire, the werewolf and the Demon. So when he stepped forwards, his mental choice giving him a horrendous compulsion to step onto the Magician symbol. Once the symbol was touched, Hiro would find that he couldn't move, the other symbols switching off.

"The Magician...""...Brings death with one hand...""....Holds life in the other." The eyes vanished for a moment before appearing around Hiro, all of them looking in at him. "Now, what kind are you...""...Do you release what you hold....""...Or keep it within, to further yourself?" They didn't seem bothered either way as the Crone in front of Hiro stepped forwards and placed her hand on his chest. Searing pain would rip through his body as the Curse Seal appeared on his chest but he would be unable to fall over. At the same time one of the other Crones stepped forwards, placing her hand next to that of the first, setting the Magic add-on Juinjtsu to further increase the power of the Seal. Once that was done Hiro would be allowed to fall unconscious from the pain and would wake up in twelve hours... In an empty room with the differences already rooted to his body.

In reality Hiro had chosen the Magician Seal solely because he didn’t want to be horribly disfigured or look like a zombie for the rest of his life or go through any weird transformations or have any strange cravings, he wanted to be normal whatever that was these days. After making his choice he would step forward and entered the magician circle which was before him and the moment he had entered the circle he was unable to move, yet something he had expected.

Hiro was confused to what exactly the three things were rambling on about, but then again they were speaking in parables the moment he had arrived inside so he had gotten quite use to it by now. Letting out a soft sigh Hiro stood there silently waiting for them to do whatever they needed to do as he needed to scratch an itch which was in a very sensitive spot. While he was busy trying to ignore the itch which was on his ass, one of the thingy’s that was in the room with him had touched him on the chest and he had immediately felt a searing pain coursing through his entire body. Resisting the urge to scream, Hiro would bite down on his bottom lip in an attempt to bear the pain hoping that the pain would subside soon, which of course didn’t happen. It was after the second person had placed its/hers/his hand on his chest he had immediately went unconscious, only to wake up a couple hours later in an empty room in the castle. “Hm…” Shrugging, Hiro would pick himself off the floor and made his way home.
