Subject: Highland Forest (Upper) 10th December 2014, 9:39 pm
Name: Highland Forest (Upper) Description: The highland forest is a massive expanse of forestry located next to and on top of hills resulting in a unique constantly raised and lowered terrain making navigation quite difficult for those travelling by land and unfamiliar with such elevations. The lower part of the forest is the lowest part with hills which reach heights of 2,500 ft yet are covered in trees who have their roots somehow able to burrow straight through rock in order to anchor themselves in place and support their weight. The branches start of these trees are numerous and sturdy giving the impression that the trees are much larger than the appear to be and often they grow around each other resulting in solid footfalls for those seeking to climb and move through the treetops. The most iconic part of these trees are their leaves which are abnormally large often having a length of 7-9ft and a width span of 4-6ft. They are made this way apparently to soak up as much sunlight as possible and are fairly thick (3-4 ft) and when eaten contain pockets of air rich in oxygen which make them valuable to the fauna which live here.

Sacrificial Shrine:
This Shrine is deep within the Highland Forest upper and is actually found within a cave within one of the hills which has been burrowed into in order to suit it's purpose. This Shrine is meant for the storage and eventual sacrifice of prisoners, with Hunting Parties throughout the Land of Damned often seeking to capture live humans, or nova so as to sacrifice them to Gaia for her blessings. As a result it doubles as a prison with dens being filled with fungi which release an aroma which when inhaled which serves to weaken and disorientate prisoner to prevent escape making them pliable and feeble enough to make easy sacrifices or food. The Dobutsu within will also force feed prisoners mixtures of the fungi to ensure that they do not recover as the fungi is fairly addictive and thus in the event of a prisoner escaping they begin to go through withdrawal and typically return or end up dying from the pain. When the fungi is burned the aroma becomes more pungent and powerful naturally the Dobutsu native to this have naturally adapted to become either greatly resistant or immune to the effects of the fungus.
