Cleaning up the Academy

Subject: Cleaning up the Academy 1st July 2021, 10:29 am

Mission:

With the sun just about to rise a single individual stood in the corridors of the academy inspecting the equipment in front of him. He didn’t really want to be doing manual labor since the academy actually had janitors to this type of work but with his sister constantly pestering him to do activities that involved others so that he could make friends he had to choose between doing menial tasks or join a club and since he wasn’t one for group activities being the school janitor for the day seemed like the best option. He was handed the key to the storage room by some faculty member and after checking to see if the brooms wouldn’t fall apart on him he would wait for his partner in cleaning to show up. Dipping into his pockets, he would pull out a stick of gum before putting it into his mouth and chewing. “It must suck knowing no one loves you huh?” The voice in his head said but he was so used to it mocking him at this point its words didn’t faze him so he allowed the demon to talk to itself as he waited on her.

Mika made her way down the hall, she had been planning to go training, she had a lot of work to do after all, but when one of the Instructors informed her that they had a task that needed to be done, and that they wanted her to help the person they assigned to it, she agreed to help rather then go training. After all she needed to start making some friends in this place, getting to know others, after all she may be placed in a team with some of them while she is at the Academy so learning who they are before then would be a good Idea. As she turned the corner to where she would meet the other person, she spotted them and waved as she walked over "Hey there, so we are teamed up to do the cleaning huh?" she asked cheerfully as she looked up at the taller male, something she had to get used to doing around here, everyone was so tall after all.

“You’re late.” He said in his usual flat expressionless tone before picking up the nearest broom and passing it to her. Would she even be able to handle the broom? It was almost two times her size? Then again why did he care? He was just here to do what the overseers said and leave. “We have three classrooms and three hallways we have to clean up so let’s not waste time with idle conversation and actions. “He stated while pointing towards the classrooms that we scheduled for cleaning. He would’ve preferred them picking a classroom and cleaning it on their own but with the massive size of these classrooms, it would be best if they had worked together as it would make it easier and quicker. Grabbing his broom, he would lead the way to the first classroom, and upon entering he would make his way to the back, leaving her with the front of the class.

"Ah sorry about that, I am still learning my way around" she said with a smile to him even as he chastised her for being late, and as she was handed the broom she smiled as she looked it over, it seemed sturdy enough, so she nodded and looked up to her partner in this little endeavor. Just three classrooms and three hallways? this was going to be easy, granted... she didn't know WHICH hallways and rooms since she wasn't told where, so she would just have to follow him to the right places. So she followed behind him and as they made it to the room she looked around, the rooms were massive... well that was to be expected really considering how many they often had here she guessed, "So how has your day been?" she asked as she started to sweep the front, calling to the boy at the back as she noticed some dust under the front podium and lifted it with one hand easily, sweeping at the dust to move it to somewhere easier to reach before placing the podium back down and continuing.

Before he began sweeping he would do two things in quick succession. The first would be to replace the gum he had been chewing with a new one and the second would be to place a mask over his face to protect himself from the dust when he did actually start sweeping. He couldn’t help but feel that the janitors had purposely left the classrooms a mess just to teach them some sort of lesson but that lesson would be lost on him as he was never one to create a mess. Letting out a sigh, it would become apparent that he would be picking up trash as well as sweeping so he would make his way back outside for the trashcan before he started picking up the empty juice boxes and candy wrappers. Once those were discarded, he would begin sweeping. He had heard her question but he wasn’t interested in answering so he continued to sweep and since it was the both of them they were finished in no time. He had strategically swept dust into the hallway that way when he was finished he could just continue to finish up the hallway as well. He’d wait for his partner to finish before moving on to the next one.

Mika could tell she was being ignored, but that didn't bother her to much, maybe the guy was just having a bad day? Regardless he was at least doing the task given to them and she did her fair bit of the work as well, even flying up and dusting the corners of the ceiling and cleaning the entire blackboard. When she looked back over at her partner she noticed him sweeping the dust into the hallway, that seemed like at good idea "oh hey good idea that should make this all easier at the end" she said happily as she gathered the dust and did the same before dumping the collected garbage into the bin. Then finally with a beaming smile she looked up at him "Okay that is this done, where to next? she asked in a happy tone "I'm Mika by the way"

He knew it was smart, which was why he did it since it would save him the trouble of doing even more work if you could even call it work as it felt more like a punishment. Was she was finished, he would signal to her to follow him to the next classroom. The next classroom didn’t need to be swept out, instead, he was told that they needed to grab a couple of mops and rags to wipe the room out as well as clean the desks and windows off. Luckily for them, this class wasn’t as big as the previous so they could actually split the work and get it down. That said, Maximillian would grab a mop, a bucket, and two rags which he would hand to Mika. “You can take the windows and the desks, I’ll take the floor.” He would pause for a bit. “I’m…. Maximillian. I suppose you can call me Maxi for short.” He finally said before he moved to dip the mop into the bucket of water and started wiping the floors from back to front.

Mika followed the boy to the next room they had to clean, and as he decided the work she nodded, sounded like a good split of their task, and she was able to stay out of his way as he washed the floor easily enough. So with that she fluttered her wings and started to fly over to the windows just aso the boy introduced himself. Mika sort of hung there in the air and then smiled and him "nice to meet you Maxi, glad to be working with you" she replied as she then she tasted to wash the windows. The windows really were not much of a bother for her flying to do this task was easy enough anyway, it was the desksame at were a bit harder, only because she had to be sure she wouldn't accidently slap maxi with her wings as she fluttered about

Maximillian couldn’t help but scoff at her words as he continued to clean the floors. It had taken some time but he was finally able to finish the floors and would make his way outside to the hallway to sweep it then mop it. Wiping the sweat from his brow, he would wait for her to finish the windows and the desks before he made his way to the final room. The room was surprisingly not as bad as the others, in fact, it seemed to be in good condition besides the fact that the floor just needed sweeping and mopping. Maximillian would hand his partner the broom so that she could sweep the little dust that was inside and on the hallways before he went in with the mop and finished the job.

Mika finished off the desks and smiled as she made sure she didn't miss anything in the room, last thing she wanted was to do all this work just to miss something simple, so after making sure all the desks were clean she fluttered out of the room, and after maxi, smiling the whole way, then as they got to the last rooms he looked it over "well seems easy enough, been good so far right? Reminds me of working the family store really" she said as she took the offered broom and started to sweep out the room and once done she moved to the hall way and started to Sweep that clean as well that same happy smIle still on her face.

He couldn’t help but feel a bit envious of the fact that she was so carefree and happy, silently wondering if he could ever become as happy as she was but knowing his current predicament he knew it would be impossible. He would wait until she was finished and when she was he would speak. “Well, we are done. Took some time but it is a job well done.” He said in his usual uninterested tone and deadpan expression. “Well, I’m going to put everything back in the storage, you can go ahead and leave. I’m sure you have other things to do, I’ll be sure to report the mission and have them transfer your xel to your account.” He said before turning on his heels to go and put everything back in the storage.

Looking around at the work completed Mika smiled even more, "nothing like working the boy to clear the mind right maxi?" she claimed as she bounced gently on the balls of her feet. When maxi mentioned that they did a good job she nodded "well we would be a poor excuse for ninja if we couldn't handle cleaning a few rooms right?" she said in her chipper tone. Though as maxi spoke once more and mentioned putting the things away she rushed over and took half the things "Other than training I have nothing else to do at the moment,so I don't see any reason to not be helping you put the things away. Besides we are partners in this task soil should do my fair share" she chirped as she walked along with him to put the things away, a large smile on her face the whole time.

Her entire demeanor was off-putting. He didn’t understand how she could be so upbeat and carefree but he didn’t hate her like he did others he was intrigued, maybe if he hung around her more often he could learn her secrets. He was half tempted to ask her if he could see her again but he decided against it. It would be better for him if he just stayed by himself as no one could possibly like or love him, after all, he was worthless. Letting out a sigh, he would finish putting away the equipment along with her before parting ways with the girl. All that was left was to report the mission as a success so that he could collect his xel and then call his sister to tell her he had actually done what she had said and that he also made an acquaintance.

While on their way to report the mission as a success Mika would pass by something that Maxi almost missed, out of the corner of his eye he would spot something going on in the distance. If he decided to take a detour from the direct route to the mission office he would come across quite the strangest scene, it was an armadillo battling with a tadpole and an eaglet. It was quite the interesting battle but it seemed that they were all evenly matched for the time being, depending on who Maxi decided to assist it could sway the battle in their favor, or at the very least spare them from injury. Still all three of these animals seemed pretty hurt with the armadillo's shell bleeding a bit, the Tadpole was missing on of it's two limbs and the eaglet wasn't flying but instead hopping on the ground as one of it's wings were broken. Each of these animals seemed pretty normal though and they were quite small all of them being juvenile animals with their parents nowhere in sight.

As he made his way towards the office something interesting would catch his attention. Turning on his heels, he would make his way towards the area where he would come across the fight. He would watch with intrigue as they seemed to be locked in a three-way deadlock and with all of them seemingly on their last legs he wondered who would win. He did feel it was a bit unfair to the tadpole, however, as his opponents had a clear advantage which was even more impressive that it was able to hold its own. Then an idea came to his mind. Walking up to the three of them, Maximillian would stand over the tadpole to show the others that he was would be protecting the tadpole from them and they had a choice, either run away or die. He didn’t care which chose to be fair as he wasn’t one that cared too much for animals or for anything else in truth. With that said he would give them a moment to decide their fate, if they decided to run he wouldn’t chase after them but if they stay well, he would kill them and he was positive they wouldn’t stand a chance against his boots in their current state once he started to stomp them out.

Once Maxi got involved the whole situation would change with the Armadillo curling up into a ball before rolling away from the battlefield at E-rank speeds, the eaglet on the other hand would let out a screech in defiance before hopping into the air in order to viciously peck Maxi in the face. If it was successful then the academy student would find himself getting multiple cuts along his face, though none of them was severe enough to draw blood they would sting a great deal. If he dodged however one good stomp would be enough to cripple it and a couple of stomps later would end up killing the eaglet while the tadpole would watch the whole thing go down before darting over to the eagles corpse to start eating chunks of it. Once it was done it would stare at Maxi for a long while without breaking eye contact if he looked at it. It would make a motion as if it wanted him to bend down and get closer to it before holding out it's remaining hand and offering a fist bump.

He was pleased his grandstanding had managed to scare the armadillo away but the eaglet clearly had other ideas. Letting out a sigh he would kick out at D rank speeds so whenever the eaglet did end up reaching near him it would be greeted by his foot inside and based on injured it was it didn’t seem like it could withstand any more damage but once it hit the ground he would stomp it out. Once that was over with he would turn his attention back to the tadpole that was just staring him down for whatever reason before it offered a fist bump. He wasn’t one for sentiment but the tadpole did seem genuinely grateful for being saved so he would stoop down and gave it a fist bump.

The Eaglet would perish much to the tadpoles amusement and upon Maxi giving her a fist bump she would open her mouth and speak in perfect Shinurai. "Thanks for the assist big bro. I'm Gamahime, I've remembered your chakra signature and will tell my dad about you. Whenever you learn the summoning jutsu try it and you'll be reverse summoned to our home to meet the rest of my family." she said cheerfully, though if he looked at her surprised she would let out a small giggle before poofing into smoke otherwise she'd just head out after he replied. One of his instructors would be able to teach him the summoning technique should he ask, though under normal circumstances a summon would leave a scroll with a potential summoner she wasn't in possession of it due to just being a tadpole. Still summons had an uncanny way of remembering the chakra signature of shinobi so it was a foregone conclusion that when he performed the technique it would result in them identifying him. Hopefully no other summoning contract had a claim on him otherwise it was quite likely that things would get...messy in the summoning realm when he did end up arriving.

“Very well. I’ll see you soon.” Maximillian said in his usual emotionless tone before he watched the tadpole disappear in a puff of smoke. It would seem that he made a very wise decision helping that tadpole as it would end up paying dividends in the long run. It was very out of character of him to help someone or something in need but it was as if his body moved on its own and forced him to make a choice. “Coincidence? Or destiny?" He muttered to himself before standing up, placing his hands in his pockets and leaving the area.
