| - Weekly 1000 Word Fatiuge Training:
His finger ran along the symbol of the Zankokuna Clan on his custom headband. The culmination of many years of study and preparation, overcoming the hardships caused by his lineage. He reached up and touched the side of his head, the approximate position where an ear would rest on a human. Ears perceived sound, sound waves traveled passed the outer ear, through the middle ear, into the inner ear, where it was turned into nervous impulses that were sent to the brain and registered as the rustle of paper or the chirping of birds, what a beautiful soundscape. Growing his stamina level also marked the second steps of a true Zankokuna clan member and was the step before he could grow in experience.
He put the headband away and stood up, rather suddenly, and for a second lost his balance, leaning too far to the right. But he caught himself just in time, remembering that the precision provided balance as well. He walked to the center of the Crimson Grassland, having gotten so used to living in it to train all day he could navigate through it by memory alone. He kept one hand on the right side of his head, being unable to see his progress he would have to rely on his sense of touch if ever he was to be blinded in battle. Nature had graciously allowed his to touch and examine her earth to get an idea of what he had to grow.
Clearing his mind, wiping away all intrusive thoughts, focusing on the task at hand. First step, he needed to amass the stamina required for the furthering of the technique. He stopped moving, standing still like a statue, erasing all distractions. Then he allowed himself to feel, feel his heart beat, the blood flowing through his vessels, and then knowing what not to look for, started feeling for something else. He felt it now, the energy running through his body, something he hadn't experienced since creating his self-reliance, long ago in the past. As he did then, he followed the next steps without any further ado.
It was mid-day as Jah speedily walked through the grassland until he found himself at his favorite spot. It was a rather large oval open space surrounded by trees. Near the Northeast opening were a pair of pillars embedded into the ground, with a tire swing and pull up bars not far from them. Approximately 20 yards west of that was a large punching bag, but it looked like it had recently been broken and the sand was spread all over the area. When Jah looked over at the broken punching bag, his smile grew through his well groomed face, and he let out a small snicker. He soon found his way to the center of the grassland.
The center was completely bare, baring the fresh cut grass. On the other ends of the grasslands, were randomly placed benches, and trees. Jah took in his surroundings, and noticed that the usual bunch of rambunctious, mouthy children of the clan weren't there yet, "Well now's as good a time as any to get so training done". He stretched out his arms and legs, and then started to jog in place as he loosened up his body, the chains clacked together making a soothing noise to Jah. " The whole reason I was giving this blessing from Mavis was to make easier to put more effort into his dances. So let's actually get to the building up part", he said to himself as he got into his fighting position, which wasn't really much of one. He stood straight up with his arms dangling at his side and legs should length apart he would work on that in the near future; his loose clan chains hanging, blowing in the breeze.
He looked down as he focused all most of his energy into his feet. He felt the energy flowing through his legs and digging into the soles of his feet. With a flick of his wrist, he pulled a kunia out from under to flaps of his clothing and threw it down in front of him. He looked at the kunia, and positioned his right foot slightly behind him. He took a quick breath, and with a slight bend of his knees and leaning his shoulders backwards, he seemingly disappeared in a puff of smoke.
He reappeared sliding backwards, digging his right hand into the ground to slow his movement. He snapped his head up to look at the kunia." That looks like its' about 10 meters. Hmmm....", Jah said as he tilted his head sideways examining the distant between himself and the kunia. His shoulders suddenly sagged as he heard the familiar foot steps, of a group of frantic kiddies. He turned around to see them rushing towards him, all 5 of them waving and calling out his name. He was hoping to get at least a couple of hours to himself before the clan kids came, but he had to admit that they had their uses when it came to training. Especially for someone like Jah, who tended to make everything in to a game whenever possible.
Jah surely turned to face the fast approaching children. He looked at the lot of them and gave a wave, as he started to build up his effort into his feet and ankles again. He was going to try and use the moment as a chance, to actually try and make an escape in a high pressure moment. He felt the energy surging on the bottom of his feet. As he was about to jump backwards, one of the kids screamed his name, and he lost his concentration. The lax in focus caused his energy to flutter as he took off. This caused an uneven distribution between his left and right foot.
His left foot got most of the focus while his right didn't get too much of any. This caused his left foot to launch into the air sending him into an unintentional back-flip. He spun through the air landing on his stomach with a slight grunt. The kids that were running towards him came to a full stop, confused about what they had just seen. He slowly got up having just had the wind knocked out of him, "Aoooooohhhh hohohooooozz, that hurt just a little bit... embarrassing." He got up and then dusted himself off. "Pheaww, let's try that one more time. Come and get me you little runts!", he shouted at the children, who smiled and then started their sprint towards him again but before they could start he was gone, in a red flash.

| - 'Weekly 1000 Word Fatigue Training':
I, Jah, was tired of eating stable biscuits and wild berries. I desired meat in order to maintain my strength. And so I sought a beast of mundane form to slay. Animal rather than monster. I had seen a small deer not long ago grazing. I wanted to follow its trail, which wasn't the easiest thing ever. I could see a bit of a path of crushed grass though. So I tried to follow that. Affirming suspicions were snapped twigs here and there in the underbrush.
Still no deer though. I did spot some dung, which meant I was probably going the right way, but dung wasn't going to fill my belly. Not a chance. There was a hoof-print nearby though, but only one, next to a wider and deeper depression not shaped like anything I could recognize. I hoped I wasn't going to have to fight on an empty stomach. That would be less than good for me. I wasn't looking for huge quantities of meat anyway, because I wouldn't be able to carry it.
Naturally of course though luck was against me as I came upon a cave. The deer was there, sort of, though the back half of it was missing. Charging from the l of the cave was a great big angry bear which took me by surprise. I gave it a glancing cut with a kunai and fled at Swift release speeds. It was too big and insulated with fat for me to fight right now. Instead when I was sure I was safe I began to look for different tracks. Maybe a rabbit or something.
There were definitely nibble marks on this strawberry bush so that was promising. I followed in the direction of another partially eaten plant, and another. They followed an awkward and winding path, but that was to be expected I thought, since it was likely whatever had been eating the first one had eaten the others hours or days earlier. And hunger sharpened my mind and my senses seemingly activating his first level of reaction, it was a wondrous thing everything seemed sort of slower.
But I was beaten to this find too, this time by a wolf. Frustrating, but I wouldn't dispute his right to the kill. It wasn't even a rabbit like I had decided to look for. It was some kind of brown tailless rodent. The wolf growled at me but didn't move to attack, probably a youngster off to form his own pack still on his own so far. That was fine. I just moved away. I could find something else I was sure. It was just a figuring of spotting a promising trail and following it.
I continued following the various tracks and trails that I came across, but it seemed like they were all old. I was starting to be able to tell that much and more with the new found reaction prowess. Of course a half eaten corpse ridden with maggots at the end of each might be a clue to that too. Nothing for it. Had to keep looking. Biscuits and wine kept me sustained, but they didn't keep up morale. I had to find some viable meat, preferably from something not inclined to fight back.
The trails and markings weaved together confusingly, crisscrossing in ways that made them hard to differentiate. Every once in a while a smaller trail would run inside a larger one, making it impossible to follow. I wasn't experienced enough to keep track at those points, yet. Kept looking though. Being stubborn, true. But I would not be satisfied with less now. I would succeed in my endeavor if only out of sheer bloody-minded pride.
Even so, an uncontested find was proving elusive and I did not like that one bit. I was getting pretty tired of it really. Dung and broken twigs, tufts of hair were only allowing me to follow things so far. I was also lost as hell, apparently, because with how much I'd walked I probably could have entered the forest on one side and exited on the other - several times over - if I'd been going in a straight line. No idea where i was going. Alas. Well, I'd figure it out later.
Continuing on a ways, I spotted something maybe promising. Set of tracks, looked like the thing had a wounded leg. One step in four was dragging behind. Made it easier to follow. Might even catch up to it before a different predator caught it first. Was getting pretty tired of that happening. Nothing I could do about it though. It wasn't fair to kill the Kami's creatures out of spite. If they attacked me first that was different. But so far it hadn't happened.
I followed the trail deeper. The gloom was all-encompassing. My prey was close. The tracks were getting fresher as i went at Swift release speeds. The other tracks surrounding it were older. It must have been separated from its family. It was going to die for certain. The only real question remaining was whether it would be a fast and clean one at my hand, or a horrible slow one by some predator. If i kept following the trail, I would come across my target. Soon. Had to move faster was the thought going in my mind, at the speeds now it wouldn't cut it, faster!! His legs would seem to thicken as he seemed to move faster and faster until he broke through his limit moving at fast as a bullet reaching bullet release speeds, it was marvelous to Do so, he was getting better mastering his body was an important step to mastering his entire being.
Following the paths was getting easier all the time, and my wounded prey was not making itself more difficult to follow. Every other shrub was badly damaged by its stumbling gait. Couldn't tell though, what it might be. Tracking wasn't just an issue of being able to follow a trail, but also identify species and numbers. There was definitely only one, of middling size, but species was still elusive. Still, it was food for something. I just hoped to be that something.
Anticipation swelled heightened his reaction up a rank as the age of the trail narrowed to just a few minutes. Soon I'd be able to sense what I pursued if not outright see it. I hurried my pace to bullet release. Couldn't let it get away, not now. The trail was hot now. I could hear its stumbling. I drew my kunai and followed into a clearing where there was...nothing. Wait what? How could there be nothing? Whatever it was, it should be right in front of my eyes. Dumbfounded I turned a circle to see if I might somehow have missed something, but there was nothing apparent. The trail just...stopped.
That wasn't possible. Nothing could just vanish into thin air. It had to be employing some trick. I doubled back to the most recent trace of the animal, and set that point as the center of my investigation. I would lose time on it here for sure, but need not lose track entirely. I cast about carefully, checking first one direction and then another in a slowly widening circle in hopes of picking up the trail. It really was baffling.

| The sun had just risen fully over the horizon, and the soft morning light still cast long shadows as it struggled towards the center of the sky. Jah Zankokuna sat on the stone bench of a picnic table located near the edge of the park underneath the sprawling limbs of a massive oak tree in the crimson grasslands. The tabletop was nearly covered by his painting scroll. Which was weighed down with rocks the boy had found and gathered a bit earlier in the day. He had also spread out his three books (Increasing stamina, Recoil for the Curious, and Ninja Studies) on the table and had them opened to various sections that he felt would be useful in the study of his intended skill. His food set was also open and positioned near the table's edge within easy grabbing distance.
Jah flipped through a semi-relevant section in cauterizing Wounds. It was on the drawbacks of fatigue from deep wound cauterization and provided a basic anatomic outline of the zireh body. He grabbed his brush and quickly sketched a caricature of the zireh form which wasn't much different from the human form. The drawing had an exaggerated torso and head with simple stick arms and legs added more for a semblance of realism then out of necessity. The young man turned his attention to healing for the Curious and recovery Studies as he felt they would provide a better look at the inner workings of the major organs and how they functioned.
After a bit of reading and some study of the images contained in the two books Jah returned to working on his drawing. He decided to start at the head and added a brain and eyes to their appropriate positions. Moving down to the torso he got to the real meat of the work. His drawing skills began to shine as he outlined the pericardial cavity filled it with a heart. Next came the thoracic cavity and the lungs which he connected through to the trachea. After this he added the diaphragm at the border between the thoracic and abdominal cavities. Now came the hardest part in the form of the cluster of organs contained in the lower abdomen.
First, he drew the liver and stomach as they sat side by side just below the diaphragm. After that came kidneys located on either side of the torso. He finished off his sketch with the large and small intestine filling in the remaining abdominal space. There were loads of other organs to be sure, but Jah felt that he had managed to capture all of the major ones sufficiently. He compared his drawing to the diagrams in his books and was soon satisfied that drawing the organs out like that had truly helped him familiarize himself with their locations. Finally, he turned his focus inward feeling the beating of his heart, the expansion and contraction of his lungs, and the bubbling of the acids in his stomach digesting his breakfast.
It was then that he realized that anatomical knowledge would also aid in him learning of the important Zankokuna clan dance techniques. As the Deity dance practitioners needed a hyper-awareness of the inner workings of the organs to allow for easy manipulation, destruction and healing. Those were thoughts for the future though when he was in school. For now he was content to continue pouring over his texts and practicing his stamina building alongside his attention and focusing skills. Feeling content in his understanding of the locations of the major organs in the human body he did a quick test and sketched out another diagram without referencing his previous drawing or his books. He compared it to his other examples and a rare smile escaped his lips. It may have been a basic outline, but it was perfect. Jah portrait was also as good as it was going to get without an actual body to study.
He would put down his book and begin to do stretches to get his body limb and loose for his physical workout. He did about a hundred arm pulls forward then reverse, Jah then would proceed to do a hundred toe touches and every ten he would hold for a minute to get the full stretch out of them. "If these don't make my body loose I don't know what will, made me lose a little bit of wind but I know I can make it through. I've failed a few times but the learning experience from the failures actually made them successes so lets do it!!!" The hype speech actually gave him a boost to his vitality and seemed to mkae him want to finish his training even more. He would start to doing burpies at his fastest speeds, three hundred to be exact, after finishing that up he would walk it off until he found a tree that he would be able to be sturdy enough for his next workout. Finding a tree he would start kicking it at his fastest speed and focus strength.
Doing such the bark off the tree would start to peel off, as his leg would feel slight pain but that wouldnt stop him fro going through with it. He would be coming up on a hundred kicks when a little fatigue would kick in, it wa only a matter of time before his body would give. now wasnt that time as he came upon three hundred and finally stopped the kicks to move on to his final training. It would be thee running portion as he would them in intervals, he would dash off at his highest speed for 30 seconds and slow to a jogging pace for the rest of the minute. Jah would continue to do this for three hours until exustion would finally kick in, making him fall to the ground where he started his training. He was happy with the results of the fruits of training, as he felt he had built up more stamina, he would drink all his bottles of water and take large deep breathes. After an hour of resting he would bring himself up and walk home to really rest, his brain fried and his body still tired but in the long run his body would thank him with glorious results in battle, his training was complete.
