Surveying the Troops[Seiko]

It had been a long few days of hunting through personnel reports and weighing up benefits and negatives of dozens of shinobi with the village. She was finally glad to be done with it, even her mechanical mind had a limit for how much paperwork could be done in a short space of time, she much preferred to be active with her hands in the guts of a Golem or some other piece of machinery, making sure it worked perfectly. Though that was one of the reasons she was calling a meeting of her one-off team, she had some certain intricacies she could put into play before the exams began in earnest.

She looked down at her desk and reached out to adjust a pencil so that it was perfectly aligned, leaving her desk neat, ordered and perfect. She had already set out chairs outside in a loose circle so they could talk and perhaps show off a bit, it was a nice day after all. It was better to act familiar with them and friendly than to act like their commander. She had gotten a small read on their personalities but she also knew how strange shinobi and kunoichi could be.

With all of that done she checked herself over and took off the white duster that she had started to wear, it doubled as a lab coat and a decent style choice that she had picked up from images she had seen from her grandfather. She hung it up on the chair behind her desk and left the small office she had commandeered, heading down to the front area where she had told them to gather, she was perfectly on time as expected but she knew about shinobi duties so if not all of the team was here today she wouldn't worry too much.

"Greetings. I am Seiko Rikigaku, I shall be the Medical Trainee working as part of your squad for my Exams. If you'd like to follow me to the training grounds just outside we can sit down and have a talk." She made sure to have a small smile on her face and waved them outside, leading them to the chairs she had set up before sitting down. "Any introductions from anyone else?" She asked on the way there though she understood if they waited until everyone was seated.

The first to arrive out of the group was Mia. She had managed to get her missions completed as quickly as possible as she was eager to meet and speak to the girl that she was supposed to be aiding in the upcoming exams. She had never been chosen for something this interested in a long while so she wanted to make a good impression to show that Seiko didn’t make a mistake in picking her to be a part of the team. She couldn’t help feel a bit nervous, however, seeing how much of a neat freak Seiko was, and hoped that she wasn’t going to be some sort of drill sergeant. But she would happily follow Seiko outside to the training grounds where she would take a seat.

The second to arrive was Ruby. She wasn’t busy with any official village business today but she did plan on meeting up with a guy she had met a few weeks ago who she thought felt the same connection that she was feeling. Turns out the man was married and she was ambushed by his pregnant wife who gave her an earful about trying to date married men and so she decided to show up for the meeting well dressed for an evening out since she couldn’t be bothered to go back home and change. Upon hearing Seiko’s request she would happily follow her and would quickly take off her heels.

The last person to arrive was Seiryu. He had literally just came off a bandit hunting expedition but wanted to see what Seiko was like having heard stories about what she had done during the Bijuu attack. Upon entering and seeing who Seiko was a frown appeared on his lips. He wasn’t sure what he expected but this wasn’t it. At all. His attention would immediately turn to the two women to see if they were actually Seiko but no he recognized the two women. He would stand there for while confused as to what was going on but would still follow along but he decided against sitting and simply stood next to his chair.

“Hi there. I’m Mia Kruchov. I’d like to thank you for giving me this wonderful opportunity to be a part of something so amazing! I’ll do my best to aid you in whatever way you need!” Mia said before bowing slightly. She didn’t want to come off as an ass kisser but she was genuinely happy to be a part of something this interesting.

“Yo. I’m Ruby Triquetra. Like Mia here I am pretty stoked that you choose me to help you with your exams. I’ll make sure that they don’t get the jump on us.” She said with a smile as she rubbed her feet.

Seiryu stood there perplexed as the others were refusing to address the glaring issues right in front of them. “You’re a child. No older than my nephew in the Academy. Is this some sort of joke? Did I die when that bandit hit me across the head with his club a few hours ago? Why are the two of you not pointing this out? Am I just to ignore the fact that she’s not even hit puberty yet? You two are pranking me, right? Funny. Come on now let’s see the real Seiko. ” He said with a grin as he looked around for the real Seiko.

For her part, Seiko took her seat after sweeping her skirt up under her legs so that it wouldn't get in the way as she sat down. Once she was sitting she kept the small smile on her face and listened to them introduce themselves. Of course she knew them all by name and face anyway, her research into them had been dilligent and she had chosen them due to their potential for working together and supporting one another. She made sure to nod and wave to Mia and Ruby as they spoke, it was good that they were eager.

Then Seiryu started to speak and the smile fell off of Seiko's face, her expression turning neutral and cold. She reached up and adjusted her glasses, waiting for Seiryu to finish what he was saying. Once he was done, she nodded. "My identity is verifiable by asking the Logistics and Support department, they will confirm that I am the true Seiko Rikigaku-Kaironokuma. I am a gifted child and my rise through the ranks has been swift. If you need a true showing as to the validity of my credentials." Seiko swung her hand out and behind her, forming from floating code, two hulking beasts of metal dropped down. Both of them were designed like giant knights wearing full plate, one had several ribbons running from their body while the other had a large comb of horsehair on the top of its head, both were coloured in white and blue.

As they rose up, their mass as Medium(M) constructs would be shown and they stepped to either side of Seiko's chair, kneeling and slamming their fists down into the ground, bowing their heads. "You are welcome to pit yourself against either or both of them if you need physical proof that they are not just for show. However I'd rather those that I offered positions in my squad to weren't injured before the exams had actually started. I plan to ascend to Combat Medical Ninja before I reach sixteen and I will do so with your cooperation. I am a skilled medical shinobi, I saved dozens of lives and fought off Nukenin infiltration during the Ichibi attack at the same time. Additionally I ranked highly in the Chunin Exams and I stopped a chakra parasite outbreak in Nazogakure. My resume should hopefully speak for itself." She then paused for a few moments and considered what she was saying, perhaps she should try to liven it up a little?

"Besides, I am afraid I cannot control the way my body grows, not yet anyway. I do apologise for not fitting your image of who I should be and for being quite short, perhaps I shall find suitable platform boots to wear during the exam, hm?" Her small smile came back and she waved her hand to try and make it seem like she wasn't actually bothered by what he said and to tell the truth, she wasn't, why care for the opinions of others that knew nothing of her?

"So, all of you, I have read your dossiers of course but as a bonding exercise, I'd like to hear about what you think you specialise in and what you bring to the team, it'll also help me gauge your personality and how best to interact with you." She told them plainly, leaving her knights in place so as to prevent any more passing insults against her. As she waited though she did tap a rhythm against her breastbone and drew out a pair of small spheres, crafted from her various energies. She'd need more of these and to update the ones already within the Drives but she had some time today.

The two women said nothing as Seiryu went off on his tangent as they knew better than to try and downplay someone’s achievements due to their looks or age. Unlike him they had known of the young girl before the whole Bijuu incident since they had watched the Chunin Exams live and knew she wasn’t the only exceptionally gift child running around the Republic of Five and even though she was younger than most her mannerisms showed maturity far beyond her age and clearly beyond his as well.

Seiryu scoff when she started giving her little speech wondering if she was trying to impress him or threaten him when she had summoned her toys but it was obvious that he was the only one who had an issue and with the other two staring daggers at him, he’d drop the argument as it was starting to look bad on him. “Yeah, my bad.” He muttered softly before taking a seat next to Emi.

“Well, now that the child’s temper tantrum is over I guess I’ll go first. I specialize in taijutsu so I’d guess I’d be amongst your golems fighting off whatever threats come our way in the front lines. I also have a clear core so whatever pesky element that we come across and neither one of us have anything that can’t handle it I’ll be able to absorb it!” She said with a smile as she thought about the great opportunity she had picking up something rare.

“Umm, I’m not really sure what my exact role will be since I have a few techniques that cover a number of things. But I’m a Triquetra, setting up barriers and causing people to go insane is my thing so I guess I’d be pretty useful setting up traps and I have a neat little sensory thing I can do to pick up hidden enemies.” She ended still rubbing her pained feet.

“I’m useful for a lot of things but I’m not a genius so I was hoping you could bestow your knowledge on me and tell me what you need me to do.” Seiryu said with a fake smile.

"Good, good. Now if I may, I will be advising you as to your positions within the squad itself though of course individual merits are always important and taken into account." Seiko said, glad that Seiryu had stood down, it wouldn't look good if she had to beat down a member of her team and it'd be too easy for something like that to lead to betrayal. "First though, I shall of course tell you of my own abilities. I am a trainee Medical Ninja as you know, I am capable of healing simple injuries and dealing with toxins and pathogens, I am also able to analyse and diagnose targets incredibly quickly. As stated earlier I am a Rikigaku-Kaironokuma, though my skills fall far deeper into the former than the latter. I am capable of creating combat capable Golems and augmenting them, I am also able to augment my own body though my current augments are limited in that respect. My purpose within the team is to act as tactical advisor and medic, I'll keep a watch on things and ensure none of you go down."

She then paused to let them think on that for a few moments before flicking her hand, a stack of files forming out of code and falling into her waiting hand. She flipped through a few of the pieces of paper as though to refresh herself but in truth she knew everything in here off by heart. "Mia, you named your role to the team already, you are one of the frontline combatants though I will need you in a damage front role. My Golems will be there to absorb any punishment sent your way and I need you to repay any of that punishment tenfold. I will tell you when the Eight Gates are required and upon feeling them begin to fade, I will need you to retreat to me so I can heal the damage they caused. After utilising the Gates you are to fall into a support role, assist me with minor threats that break through and with moving any injured parties." She gave the woman a nod and then turned to Ruby next, shuffling her papers.

"Ruby, mental specialisation, Triquetra. I've read about your capabilities. You are to be the Communication and Defensive Nexus of the force. Your ability to connect people will be vastly important as it means we can strategise without ever having to speak and you will also be able to hear the commands I'm giving my Golems as they are controlled mentally, allowing greater coordination even with them. I will use the Connection to guide everyone and I will need you to watch mental states and deal with possible Genjutsu based attacks on us. You will primarily be with me in the center of the moving group in order to keep you safe as I know you are tangible unlike some. If we must stop and fight, which is a last resort, place your barriers down but I know they are less useful when moving." She then flipped through a few pages before turning lastly to Seiryu and giving him a nod, there was little point in flattering this one.

She spent a few moments thinking before deciding that being blunt would be the best thing for it. "Seiryu, you are our offensive powerhouse. When there is a foe in front of us or an obstacle, I require you to destroy it, quite simply. I specifically chose a Fire Specialist Bakuhatsu to back you up, Hanazar and yourself are to destroy anything that must be destroyed. I trust in your ability to follow tactical advisement. Especially as afterwards, and this applies to all of you, I will be available to assist with missions in a medical capacity should you need it, as repayment for this assistance." She digitized the dossiers once more and leaned back in her chair, taking a less formal position now and folding her hands in her lap.

"For the other two members of the team, I will speak to them later but as stated one will be a chakra primary alongside Seiryu in order to remove problems and the other is a support focused Weaponkin, Emille Vyne, that I shall be pairing with you Mia. Should it come down to it, Emille will be able to grant you the ability to deal with threats immune to physical strikes." She stated and with all that done, she stood up and climbed up onto Primaris, the one with the crest. "Now while I upgrade these Drives, talk to me about any concerns you have or tactics that you feel I am missing." She said simply.

While they spoke she'd work, opening the first Earth Drive and plugging in the Double Suicide Decapitation Core, she then ripped out the Shell Core and tossed it aside, pulling a new one from her arm and replacing it, she then slammed the core back in and drew out the second. Into this she drew out a core for her Buster Strike and put it in before replacing the Shell Core again and into the third she pulled out a core from herself for Prison Chamber and slotted that in alongside a replacement Shell Core.

With that done she moved to the second Golem and pulled its first drive out, replacing the Shell Core and inputting the Core she made earlier for Blinding Burst. The second got another Buster Strike core and a replacement Shell Core and then she opened the third drive and replaced the Shell Core before removing an Electrokinetic Burst Core from herself and planting it in, shunting all the Drives back in. She then dusted off her hands and hopped down, ready to answer any questions.

Mia was pleased she was able to successfully discern her place in the team. Seiko wasn’t the only one who was going to benefit from these exams as she had planned on using this opportunity to show everyone what she was made of so when it was her turn in the Chunin Exam she would have some momentum and quit possible make a name for herself, though she doubts the latter would happen unless she had done something really outrageous but she knew this was her chance and unlike what’s his face, she had planned on taking it with both hands. “Alright! I’ll do my best Seiko-san! You can count on me!”

Ruby on the other hand wasn’t really sure what her role was bout was impressed on how easy it was for Seiko to come up with a tactic that would benefit them all. It was true she wasn’t much of a fighter like the other two so she would probably end up being less useful in a scenario where they needed to fight she’d ensure that the team had all the information they needed and of course deal with any genjutsu that came their way.

Seiryu of course knew his role in the team as he was positive he was one of if not the strongest of the bunch but it was interesting to hear that there was someone he was going to combo with so atleast it would be an interesting day when it came.

“Umm Seiko-san, I forgot to ask but how exactly are the exams going to work?” Mia asked having completely forgotten due to her excitement.

"The exams are functioning as something known as the Wartime Medic Scenario. This means that we will be moving across a simulated battlefield in order to reach an objective area. My job is to keep all of you moving and as unwounded as possible during this. Your job is to assist me with any threats that attack the group. I believe we shall get the full details once we actually reach the battle area and the instructor will tell us exactly where we need to go." Seiko told them all before turning around to look at both of her kneeling Golems. Was it finally time? If she hadn't excised fear she might have actually felt anxious about this but instead she radiated cold confidence.

Three items then appeared out of code. The first was a shortsword that dropped into Seiko's hand. It was of simple manufacture but she was nothing if not a little dramatic. The second was a massive spear that stabbed into the ground next to Borealis, large enough that really only a creature of Medium(S) or (M) could wield it. The last was a halberd of similar proportions that stabbed into the ground next to Primaris. "The primary objective is to reach the goal, standing and fighting is a last resort as it will slow us down. Wounds upon myself also do not count towards failure conditions so long as I cross the line. I am also far tougher than I look so worry not if I take attacks to spare you all."

She nodded to them and then stepped up in front of Primaris. "By the power invested in me as your Lord, I strip you of your old name and dub you anew!" She placed her sword on one shoulder and moved it to the second. "Sir Bors, take up your weapon and rise, no longer a Golem but a Knight." There was a clunk and a hiss as machinery within the once-Golem reacted to the command phrases and the Element Drives locked themselves into place. Sir Bors took hold of his Halberd and rose, slamming the base of the haft down into the ground.

Seiko digitized the first of her Knights and then moved to Borealis and repeated the spiel, though this time she named him as Sir Tristan. The Element Drives locked into place once more and he stood up, drawing his spear out and giving it a flourish before bowing and digitizing back into Seiko's digital space. With that done she demanifested her sword and turned towards them. "Apologies for the drama but you'll find everyone has their own personal flair and besides, there were code words and command phrases laced amongst those words, it wasn't just for show. Both of them and no longer Golems and have gained new abilities as a result of the machinery I laced within their shells." She smiled and adjusted her glasses, the warmth of a job well done sitting within her chest. She thought for a few moments about her plans for the Heavens' Ward and what she would need... But it would be best not to mention such things, too easy to make people uncomfortable with such ideas.

"Now I made sure to free my itinerary for the next few hours so we can sit and talk for a while if you wish to get more comfortable with myself and each other?" She said, happy to just have people that were willing to talk with her even if it was about... A form of work related things. It was situations like this that she most keenly missed her cousin.
