Minerva had failed her Chunin Exams when she, Kori and Audra had participated. In fact, Kori had been the only one to pass, much to the dismay of her teammates. Minerva had been in a depression for some time, until she found that Audra had worked past her disappointment in herself rather quickly and went on to become T. Jonin. That lit an inspiring fire in Minerva, driving her to want to do the same. She needed to learn that failure was alright as long as you learned to get up, dust yourself off and try, try again. That was why she was at the missions office, looking at the D-Ranks available there. She plucked one down from there that looked simple enough. Gardening for a little old lady. She liked gardening, so it would definitely be a good fit for her.
She made her way through the residential island to the address of the old woman. She waved to people as she walked past, having gained a bit of a reputation as the student of one of Dipugakure's most prominent figures: the Sannin Summer Osuna. Minerva herself had also helped out a large number of people within the village, not for missions or anything, just to help those in need. The fact that she was doing it to progress herself in rank didn't really cheapen the act, she still felt good about helping someone who required it. She came up to the house near a beach front, though many houses were near beach fronts on the island so it wasn't really a rarity, and walked up to knock on the door. She waited a few minutes and when there was no sound from inside, she knocked again. A few more minutes went by, however before she knocked again a shuffling could be heard from inside before the door swung open, revealing a rather severe looking old woman, her silver hair pulled back into a tight bun "I suppose you are the..." She wore half moon spectacles perched on the tip of her nose, and she was now looking down at Minerva over them "...Help they sent me? Follow."
While the woman had a rather sour attitude, Minerva followed all the same. Better to get this over with quickly than to draw it out and cause them both unwanted suffering. She was lead out into the woman's back yard, noticing that it was taken over largely by her garden "Alright Miss..." "Minerva." "Minerva, if you could weed the garden, get rid of any of the annoying pests you find and then water all of the flower beds, that would be all. My gardener is on vacation, though I didn't think everything would get so out of hand with him gone for only a short time..." She shook her head slightly and moved off back into the house before Minerva could say another word. With a resolute nod, the redhead got to work.
The older woman was shocked to find that the girl got the job done within forty five minutes of starting. Minerva was kept there for almost twenty more minutes, trying to gently turn down the woman's countless offers of a job as a gardener. She got the woman to sign the mission paper, heading back to the mission hall to turn in a job well done.
