| Subject: Scorching Forest 10th December 2014, 7:30 pm | |
| Name: Scorching Forest Description: The Scorching Forest is the only remaining part of the original Decaying Forest, though on official maps it has no name, when the Dobutsu took over the Land of Decay and revitalized the area Trinity decided to rename it as the Scorching Forest due to the various trees glowing a vibrant red during the night time. This is mainly due to the trees being permanently changed by the radiation making not only radiation resistant but trees which actually constantly radiate heat. In addition to masking heat signatures within the forest it makes the temperatures within sweltering often dehydrating those who find themselves within it. The local fauna on the other hand have adapted to living in the Scorching Forest and thanks to the numerous rivers it has a thriving eco-system. At the center of the Scorching Forest is a jet black tree known as Memphis which reaches 379.7 ft (115.72m) however has a trunk width (at base) of 40ft (13.7m). Radius (ft) - Heat Masking/Tree Radiation Resist/Heat Resist Req to be Immune - Fatigue Loss Due to Sweat each P.TMemphis - SS (S at Night) - 10 (60 °C) 51 to 100 - S (A at Night) - 5 (55 °C) 101 to 200 - A (B at Night) - 4 (50 °C) 201 to 400 - B (C at Night)- 3 (45 °C) 401 to 800 - C (D at Night) - 2 (40 °C) 800 to River Banks - D (N/A at Night) - 1 (35 °C) Hyperthermia Occurs after a set amount of P.T dependent on race when not Heat Resistant and exposed to temperatures above 55 °C. Once Hyperthermia occurs fatigue loss due to sweat is doubled, when Fatigue limit is halved Unconsciousness occurs when three-fourths a victim's fatigue limit is depleted they begin to experience Organ Failure and when it is completely depleted death occurs. Every rank of Endurance allows one to remain conscious for an additional -2 Fatigue under half the victims total fatigue limit while in regards to organ failure it doesn't set in for an additional -1 Fatigue under 3/4th depleted fatigue limit. The Thunder Nest is located to the north of the Memphis only 150 ft away from the Scorching & Burning Nests while being 100 ft away from Memphis. Like it's counterparts it is a nest built for fauna which are able to survive in the sweltering temperatures produced by the trees. They are built underground and the Volt Tribe Dobutsu who live within it are adapted towards living in high temperatures, the burrows themselves are built up to 500 ft below ground carefully made so as not to disrupt roots. Within the burrows are exothermic plants which actually radiate cold rather than hot, having been altered by the Kyuubi's radiation managing to survive both that and the intense heat of the trees above. This causes burrows to be colder than the surface and forest temperature and with the multiple entrances the Dobutsu nesting within can defend themselves above ground and retreat underground before it become too hot to bear. All three Nests are interconnected underground with not only themselves but each of the Shrines with the Dobutsu natives to it living within only surfacing when it is time to hunt for food. Due to being built underground these burrows are pitch black with the fauna living within being adapted towards hunting both at night and in absolute darkness. - - Memphis Shrine:
The Memphis Shrine is located in the branches of Memphis with Aria modifying the formation of the branches to create a shrine within the treetops. Those Dobutsu who are stationed here are adapted to living in high temperatures to a greater level than their subterranean counterparts and are tasked with patrolling the Scorching Forest during the daytime in addition to alerting the others underground in case of an attack. It is the primary worship center of all three nests with the storage of resources and things of that nature being divvied up among the shrines which form rings around the Nests. The Shrine's best defense is camouflage due to being unable to be seen unless approached from above due to the size of Memphis and the number of trees surrounding it. - - Inner Rim Shrine 1:
The Inner Rim Shrines are four interconnected burrows which form a ring around the Nests, like the nests they are hard to find due to primarily being hidden underground and obscured by the dense forest but they are noted to usually be covered by dead logs giving the impression that nothing is located underneath when in actuality the logs are hollow within and much lighter than they look to be. They aren't as deep as the nests only extending about 350 ft deep, due to the temperatures of the trees above ground not being as high Within the burrows are exothermic plants which actually radiate cold rather than hot, having been altered by the Kyuubi's radiation managing to survive both that and the intense heat of the trees above. This causes burrows to be colder than the surface and forest temperature and with the multiple entrances the Dobutsu stationed within can defend themselves above ground and retreat underground before it become too hot to bear. - - Outer Rim Shrine 1:
The Outer Rim Shrines are four interconnected burrows which form a ring around the Inner Rim Shrines, like the inner they are hard to find due to primarily being hidden underground and obscured by the dense forest but they differ in the fact that they don't have any markers and following the entrance always leads to an underwater lake of water. In reality the lakes are used to hide the real burrows which require one to swim 100 ft downward to the many tunnels before using those tunnels to reach the dry tunnels filled with air. These burrows aren't as deep as the Inner only extending about 200 ft deep (300ft if you include lakes), due to the temperatures of the trees above ground not being as high Within the burrows are exothermic plants which actually radiate cold rather than hot, having been altered by the Kyuubi's radiation managing to survive both that and the intense heat of the trees above.
