How can weeds grow underwater? [D Rank Mission]

Ka had just finished his first mission with Jazz, and with the day still young he figured that he would go ahead and grab another one. After getting payment for their last he was handed his team's new mission scroll, unrolling it he would groan yet again at the objective. Wedding a god damn garden, seriously these people need to learn how to do their own damn chores. He would leave the mansion flying away on Stalkers back, perhaps this one wouldn't be as bad as the last one, not sure if he would ever be able to wash that smell off his body. At first he was thinking of going to grab Jazz first for this mission, but the Zerin compound was on his way there so what the hell. "Hey buddy, continue on to Jazz's hotel and go get her for the mission. I'll grab Ada and meet you two.... He would say quickly scanning over the mission scroll, trying to see where they were to go, but the wind was making it somewhat difficult to read while riding a beast a couple hundred feet in the air. "West dome, a few blocks from the training grounds"

With that he would put the scroll in Stalkers mouth, and after locating the location of the Zerin compound he would jump off Stalker. Now usually this would be dangerous for a genin, but Ka had this little trick that allowed him to control his rate of falling, so he would be perfectly safe for the time being. Landing on top of the gates hardly making a sound, his eyes would scan the immediate area looking for Ada right away, but was unsuccessful at the beginning. So he jumped of the gates towards the central area, eyes scanning each window as he passed by. "Hey Ada, Wakey wakey. We have a mission, hurry up hurry up hurry up!"

Meanwhile Stalker continued to fly through the village, actually through it thanks to his own abilities. People shrieked as he flew though their homes like a ghost, what did he care though. He was in and out before they could really notice, and it was a lot faster to move through the buildings than around them. Only taking less then a minute to fly to the hotel at his top speed, he would fly through front doors still intangible and land safely on the ground. A few people scurried away from him at first, but that soon changed as he let out a loud roar in order to get Jazz's attention.

Jazz was eating a muffin while reading on of her recently acquired books "Puppetry through the Ages" she had started from chapter one having finished waking up showering and brushing her teeth before slipping on her usual outfit deciding to get a quick breakfast and light read before she would continue formulating blue prints for her puppets. The earliest record of puppetry was brought about for entertainment purposes over a milennia ago, these were known as Kabuki Puppet Shows often employing simple finger or hand puppets to entertain children. Overtime they became more elaborate with aspiring puppeteers creating marionettes with strings attached to manipulate them often acting out elaborate tales which began to draw a cult following it was more widespread in the desert regions of the Origin continent due to the climate not being suitable for actors and plays to be conducted for long periods of time however puppets did not generate too much heat and thus was preferable often being used alongside "magic" shows and the occassional circus troupe by the descendants of the iconic current day clan I- Jazz read in her mind, before she heard a roar causing her to frown and begin to flip through pages far more quickly her eyes scanning the page so she could get as much information before the source of the raw warranted her attention.

Sure enough one of her bodyguards had met up with her in the lounge informing her that her teammates pet was looking for her meaning Ka was most likely not far behind. She would sigh putting the book into Digitized Storage before placing her hands in her pockets and walking to the reception desk where of course Stalker was there slobbering on the floor as usual with a scroll in his mouth. I'll have you know if it's another cleaning mission you can tell the baka to eat shit and die. I mean that in the most polite way possible of course. she said before picking up the scroll that had been dropped on the floor due to Stalker's roaring and would open it with a grimace due to well..slobber. She would notice it was gardening, well no it was weed pulling she was fine with that ultimately she had been meaning to gather plants anyways one person's weed was another persons flower after all. Alright..let's go. Jazz said sealing the scroll into Digitized Storage as well while wiping her hand on Stalker's coat to clean it before turning on her heel to stroll out of the door to the meeting place. The usual method of travel would be taken, aka chakra skates, shouldn't take too long to meet up with Ka though she did wonder why he didn't just come get her himself.

It had been two days since Ada left the pit and return to the head house. His ribs still bruised up and he walked with a limp but it was all for the best after all. Medics had come and done all that needed to be done and from here on it just needed to heal naturally. Which means taking it nice and easy. Sleeping in, good breakfast, lazing around the house, great lunch, mid afternoon nap, followed by an amazing dinner. The life of a boy's dream. Of course dreams were all ways meant to be broken and this short lived one was no different. The Zerin clan was filled with two types of people. Those who loved to beat their targets into a senseless ball of human waste, and those who sensed out targets to be beat down into a senseless ball of human waste. Not seconds after touching down would Ka feel the chill of vectors passing through his body. He was lucky he caught a good day and the genjutsu masters weren't on duty today. His presence had been fore warned though. After being placed on the same team as Ada he was quickly put on the guards radar, so no direct actions were made, but windows, doors and shutters began to draw close all around the compound without a sign of human life in the hopes that Ka didn't see anything he shouldn't.

"Hey Ada, Wakey wakey. We have a mission, hurry up hurry up hurry up!" Ka's voice called out. This kid may not have been the brightest person in the world, but then again calling out was quite possibly the best thing he could have done, instead of just barging in on something he shouldn't see.

The voice reached Ada's ears but to be completely frank, he ignored it slightly hoping it was just the wind blowing. Softly holding a book against his chest as he laid out back, Ada waited a moment knowing what was coming. It wasn't even seconds before an aid appeared at his side. "Yep. The loud mouth idiot is here. Got it. You may go." Ada said but the aid stood close by as Ada handed her his book. Sitting up he braced his hands on the ground a moment before rising off the ground. His legs stretched out bellow him as he was slowly lowered to the ground. A small wince crossed his face as pressure was applied to his leg. He refused the use of a crutch, partly to make sure on one in the clan would know he was hurt, and partly out of his own pride. He did however lose the use of one of his vectors because of his pride as he wrapped the vector around his leg for support. The only sign of any walking aid was a slight shimmer of light if you pair close attention and Ada tried not to completely bend his knee.

It took a few minutes for Ada to walk around the side of the main building to the front where Ka was calling from. The aid walked slowly behind him as he moved along. "Why are you gathering us for a mission and not our so called 'leader'?" Ada said plainly as he approached Ka. Regaurdless of the answer Ada was grateful for the chance to leave the compound. "What ever. Let's go" Ada said continuing to walk pass Ka. He hated to stop on his leg so he just kept pushing past. "We have one more to retrieve don't we." Ada added on.

Okay now that was a new sensation, when he pushed off of the gates to the compound he could instantly feel what felt like arms moving through his body, only ice cold. Definatly something he would have to take note for future encounters with this place, secretive too, almost like they were hiding something. Granted that each clan was to keep their secret from the rest of the world, but seriously these people could be a little less creepy and maybe they wouldn't be called such heinous names. He had just landed on the largest building of the compound when he saw Ada limping from around the corner, so he jumped to the ground and landed a few feet in front of him. "You should know better then to expect Roxas with a war going on, let alone handling our low rank missions. You you guys call me the idiot" He said with a chuckle before turning to follow Ada out of the compound, watching him walk with each limp. "We're meeting Jazz at the location in the west dome, if your not feeling up for the walk I'm sure Stalker could carry you there"

Almost on que Stalker had flown through the walls while intangible in order to leave it undamaged, only to feel the each of the intangible arms in the area. He quickly touched down on the ground and almost seemed to cower at the sheer amount he felt near the walls alone. Could there really be that many arms here? The thought of it scared Stalker as he moved along to Ka's side, and seeing his pets behavior change like that so quickly raised some concerns. "Don't worry, we'll be out of here soon buddy"

Jazz would touch down outside of the clan compound not wishing to travel in unknown territory as it was rude to simply sneak over the wall of an established clan, rightly so they could of killed him for trespassing and blamed it as an accident or protecting clan secrets. Though Ka was a heir as odd as it was to her understanding seeing as he was a deadlast idiot, but then again not all clans made use of arranged marriages and selective breeding programs to produce the very best heir and eventually clan head's possible. Obviously Ada was like herself bred to be perfect after all weren't most Zerin disabled in some way yet him he looked normal if not good looking yet was the clan heir and herself well, she knew her story at least engineered for the sole purpose of being clan heir and eventually leading the Kukinorite clan into greatness before her lifespan was up at least. She would sigh leaning against the wall with one of her legs bent so her foot was flat on it unsealing her book from Digitized Storage to continue reading, when they got out she would simply push off the wall to follow them her hand flipping through pages rapidly not quite using swift release but close to it nonetheless.

Hello Ada-teme, it is nice to see you again as it has been sometime since we last were all gathered together in one place. Ka-baka I'm afraid it isn't as pleasurable to see you, no not pleasurable at all. I mean..no offense of course. Jazz said in her usual monotone not even bothering to look at Ka when she spoke to him but she would spare Ada a glance her eyes roaming over his body so as to see if there were any changes to him. He's favoring one of his legs. she thought to herself her own perceptiveness and focus on reading body language picking up something which most wouldn't but she didn't comment on it nor did she act as if she had noticed anything different. She simply filed it away into the back of her mind already running through potential scenarios to take advantage of his weakness if the situation required it, Ada was still under observation really as her interactions with Ka had allowed her to flesh out his personality for the most part. At least on the surface level, she didn't particularily care enough to know about him any deeper than what was professional, as for her team bonds weren't something she wished to cultivate further than being able to work with them to complete a mission.

It took Ka no more than a few seconds to call him on his limp. That wasn't exactly what he wanted. Finally at least a little bit of confidence after his training was starting to sit in and then he had to go and show this sign of weakness, great. "I'm fine. Now would you mind filling me in on where and what we are supposed to be doing." Ada said plainly as his vector tightened around his leg. Each step he forced it to bend and he gritted his teeth in an attempt to hide the pain. He even went as far as to force himself to walk normally now that he was out of mother's range so he wouldn't get into trouble. Ada turned down the road heading in the direction of the tunnels leading to the other domes. He took his time waltzing along allowing his teammates to follow him. He wasn't really one to be late for anything, much less an official meeting but the longer he could keep them walking at a slow pace the better to him. That being said though he was all ready preparing himself mentally to run.

Ada kept his face turned away from his two partners as they moved through the roads. Finally the words of Jazz making its way through the pain and setting in, realizing that he had ignored a real 'hello' to his teammates. Well at this point it was too late for that so he kept silent loving along. He knew Ka saw his limp but Jazz didn't vocally say anything yet, but if the slow minded one saw it he was all most certain that Jazz knew it. Wasn't any choice now, Ada actually had to do work to make sure they weren't 'carrying his weight'.

"Oh don't worry, the feeling is mutual princess" Who could blame them for acting this way right now, they just finished their last mission not even an hour ago. The stink of the place was probably still lingering on them both, but this mission would undoubtedly be less of a pain in the ass. Except for possibly the walk through the tunnel, like Ka understands why Ada chose to walk over getting the lift from Stalker, but was his pride worth hurting himself even more? So Ka would walk up next his wounded compatriot, nudging his shoulder as he caught up, always trying to be the guy to get people to along. "So......... Whats new with you? Hows being the heir of Zerin, Rough from what I can see" Not long after they had entered the tunnel the squad would find themselves going through the exit would, open space where Stalker took full advantage and took off into the air.

Hn. Jazz would just mutter at his comment before continuing reading her book for most of the walk there, thankfully she read extremely quickly even though it was a large book well at least for someone of her size to be carrying it was actually almost as wide as her own tiny body and a pain to carry but she managed with only mild strain. Of course she could of just pricked her thumb for a strength boost but she didn't see the point if anything this was a form of endurance training as well as balance so she didn't teeter over due to weight. She would stop reading however narrowing her eyes slightly as Ka's comment on Ada's home life being rough and his injuries. Baka, do you really have to bring up something that he is clearly uncomfortable with or is the small working part of your brain incapable of subtlety. she thought to herself before deciding to pitch in her own comment so as to shift the conversation away from that to answer Ada's question. We have a weeding mission pulling up plants, we should be there in a couple of minutes at our current pace. Easy Xel, minimal risk. she said in her usual monotone looking up briefly to avoid walking into a pole with a quick side step and would go back to reading slowing down enough that she was behind Ka and Ada so that they could be in charge of making sure she didn't run into anything while she read.

She was however curious as to what Ada was doing, seeing as he had been something of a recluse and she did wish to gather intel on him as a result while she read she was subtly studing him looking at his reactions and trying to gleam information on his responses that Ka would most likely provoke due to his bluntness and utter stupidity. She would chuckle to herself in her mind, of course maintaining her otherwise cover of being more focused in her reading than she was their conversation even though she was actively listening in.

"Thank you Jazz." Ada said plainly. "At least you have the courtesy to get straight to the point." He snapped quickly showing his nerves was getting to him. He stopped a moment immediately after saying it though. He'd made up his mind in the pit, but once it was actually time to share the words didn't come as easy as he thought they would. Despite him being a nervous child on the inside, his outward demeanor was still that of a true Zerin leader. But he had promised himself that he would open up to his teammates. They deserved his trust if anyone did. He needed to be real around them. Ada let out a long breath before finally saying something, softly at first. "You guys terrified me." He said under his breath.

Slowly Ada began moving forward again while changing his tone from a quite tone to a slightly more 'in charge tone'. "I made the decision to seek out some final training before committing myself to this team. At least until its officially time for me to take over." He spoke clearly with zero waver in his voice. The pain from walking on his injured leg fell to the lay way behind his thoughts about how his team would take this sudden explanation of his absence. "I am sorry for leaving without getting notice but training with my family isn't exactly something you can do in the village training grounds, or with anyone else anyway. As for my injuries, since I know you both had to have noticed by now they aren't of concer...." He stopped himself. His injuries should be a concern of his teammates, but he didn't need their sympathy. "I'm fine." Ada said quickly ending his story time. After a few more paces without speaking he finally opened his mouth again. "Why am I still leading the way to this mission when I know nothing about the official job. Shouldn't the one who accepted take lead step for once, or are you one to hid behind an injured teammate and woman?" Ada threw in letting his "clan leader" persona take over again.

Ka had completely forgotten about Ada's request for mission details, and was somewhat thankful for Jazz  for explaining things to him. Now that they were out of the tunnel, and Stalker was flying a head to scout out the situation, Ka would make his way to the front of the group to lead them to the location. It was as he was moving to the head of the group that he had heard Ada state something that he had already known, he was terrified. He explained on how he had to train with his family so that he could learn how the politics of being clan head had gone with his family, which of course did make sense, but one of the things about training was to be able to combat people who weren't from within the clan, to learn the strengths and weaknesses of other people and clans. He was about to start feeling sympathetic for his team mate when he decided to speak up again, only this time berating him as per the usual.

"You see, I was about to start feeling sorry for you, but then you just had to open up your mouth. If you recall last time we all got together that your flapping gums had gotten you in trouble with Roxas" If they wanted him to be the team leader, then he would have to start acting like it. "Now I get that your clan training is important to you, and that your the heir to the Zerin, But that doesn't give you the right to belittle me for your screw ups. The point of us working together is to try and better the relations between our clans" That's right, he wasn't going to put up with their shit anymore, and if either of them didn't like it he could care less.

Terrified, that wasn't something she expected, he was truly afraid of teaming up with them honestly she didn't understand why he possessed the highest grades in the academy exam or at least the equivalent test he had taken after being homeschooled. Surely he should be confident in his strength, in fact she would of admitted that she was intimidated by him especially since he didn't show any fear towards Roxas during their first team meeting while she had trembled in fear. Of course she didn't let it out because she couldn't afford to show weakness but she was resolute that she wouldn't feel so terrified even of her betters ever again. Tch. He wasn't mentioning his screw ups oh great Baka-leader. If you don't like how we talk to you quit being an idiot but then again I don't think that's possible. Jazz said her monotone being just loud enough that the two in front would hear her and she made sure to punctuate it with another turn of a page to further increase her seeming disinterest in the conversation.

Your training better be, worth it. I do not expect to carry this team, nor can any of your expect me to go out of my way to help those who are to weak to survive on their own. she thought to herself while seeing that the yard in the distance. It seems we are...here. This team was thrown together because I was the rookie of the year, Ada had the highest grades and you are failure, it has nothing to do with our clans your just saying that so you don't have to deal with the truth. Either way baka-leader. How shall we divy the work up. Jazz said folding the page she was on before closing her book with a loud clap and sealing it away in Digital Storage.

"The last thing I need is you of all people feeling sorry for me." Ada said out plainly. "And trust me when I belittle you it'll hurt a lot worse than that." Ada snapped out even quicker. The words flowed out smoothly like they were actually what he wanted to say. Perhaps something deep in him really did mean those words. No something deep in him did mean those words. You don't spend most of your life pretending to be someone and just let all that go away in an instant. He'd opened up now, but he still had a ways to go before he was ready to say he was a contributing member of this team. "I highly doubt the only reason we were put together was because of our clans, and honestly I'm inclined to believe princess's way of thinking about our little group, but that is something to discuss another time." Ada said stopping and putting all his weight on his un-injured leg.

Honestly he wanted to be an active member of this team but this time it was trying him, so for the final time he added. "Yes please can we finally get down to who's doing what and where." He said with a little snap of anger in his voice, brought only probably from pain.

"I feel sorry for your clans if you two are to be their heads" Ka would say under his breath, these two were going to cause him to do something terrible one day, but they would all cross that bridge when it happens. Jazz would pipe up giving her two cents about their conversation, yet again insulting him before stating they were here. Why is it every time he hears her voice all he can think about is strangling her with his chain, and here he was without it today. Although she did bring up a valid point about about their backgrounds, she was completely wrong about why they are all together, at least in his opinion. "Jazz and I will pick the weeds while Ada you gather them in a garbage bag. Shouldn't take us too long, probably less then an hour, so lets just get this over" With that Ka would walk towards the garden, examined their job and realized he had way overestimated how much time it would take to get it done. The yard alone was 6x12 feet and the garden took up less then a quarter of that. "Maybe less then ten" He would go into the yard and could be seen going through the yard, picking weeds from the ground.

Very well. Jazz said two doppelgangers manifesting next to her while she looked around for a place to sit spotting a nice log about 10 feet away walking towards it before plopping herself down and manifesting her book from storage while her doppelgangers looked at Ka blankly. You two are to pick the weeds alongside Ka in order to speed up the process. Jazz said unfolding the page of the book that she was reading before going back to reading at her slowed pace as it was a particularily interesting part. Something about the first creator of human puppets being the inventor of the Red Secret Technique only to be succeeded upon his death by the Black Secret Technique thus creating the tradition among true masters of the art to create new things in order to revitalize Kugujutsu as a whole. She understood where they came from puppetry wasn't something for combat it was a wonderful art form which lasted forever, as art itself should last for those to appreciate it's splendor as a result she identified with Red in why he wished to create human puppets. Not simply for power but to preserve those who were deemed worthy to add to his collection..forever. Honestly in her opinion she felt it was the greatest form of flattery to turn someone into a human puppet, it meant one respected their skills enough to make a puppet out of their image, of course for those who she didn't she would make them like her mother did crushing their bones into powder and using their essence to fuel grander masterpieces, oh how she wished they could go out and kill someone so she could practice.

Jazz would stop reading before gazing at Ka and Ada if they had bothered to stare or give her the death glare before going back to her reading. Then again if we go before they are ready they would probably die, their bodies aren't even good enough to make the shoddiest of puppets in my collection.

Clones. Brilliant. Not only was Ada injured after training literally everything he could without killing himself, but he was still miles behind. Still it was good to know that as hard as he trained they trained harder, at least in his mind. "Thank you." Ada said quietly to no one really, but in a sigh of relief about not having to do much of anything. Jazz had her way to avoid work, and Ada had his. Moving close to the garden Ada put his weight on his good leg a moment as he shut his eyes. A hard rush of pain that made Ada draw in a hard long breath revealed the moment every bit of pressure around his leg was released. Not needing to walk or anything on that leg now on reason to wast his vector. Turning one vector to physical form, Ada shaped to a kind of 'L' shape, allowing him to sit on his own vector arm, appearing to be no more than a shimmer. Ada rubbed his leg a moment giving himself a second to compose himself before opening a bag. "Any time." Ada said plainly waiting for the first weeds to hit the ground for his other vector to swoop up and pack into the bag.

Ka was like a blur moving through the yard, weeds flying through the air. He was basically working at full speed so he could get the hell away from these two, really infuriating the way they would gang up on him. He wasn't an idiot or a baka, he was just distracted easil...... Okay maybe he is a bit of an idiot, but it was part of his charm. As he moved his eyes caught Jazz conjure up her dopplegangers, and a sudden realization came to his eyes. If she used them now, then what would have stopped her from doing it before........ Oh she is just the worst. "Almost done" He would say keeping his anger buried deep down, she would pay dearly for this. Another minute or so later Ka had finished his portion of the job leaving a small pile of weeds near Ada, who was now seamlessly sitting on thin air....... The fuck's wrong with his team?

Jazz would flip another page before looking up as one of her doppelgangers would move over to her before dropping two things near her and then going back to snatching the weeds as they were ripped up by Ka and depositing them near Ada for him to sweep them into the Bag. The other doppelganger was alternating between pulling weeds as well mimicking Ka in his haste and speed simply for it's own amusement knowing fully well it would probably infuriate him more thus making him work faster. Oh what is this? An 100 Xel coin and an Opal... good find, I should probably have them search things more often. Jazz thought to herself having held off from searching the last time they did a D-rank simply because she wasn't a thief sure she was a shinobi and would steal when the mission required it but other than that stealing was never really her thing, if she wanted something she would either ask for it or find a way to substitute something else for it. She would put both of them in her Coded storage no need for them to simply linger before she went back to her reading detailing the exploits of Red with him using his puppet line to decimate an entire country or in modern times, Land. She knew Red was powerful but perhaps he was the greatest puppeteer that had lived standardizing puppets into mass produced versions, creating the initial types along with creating human puppets surely he was a genius like herself. It only served to motivate her further cause her to succeed him as she felt she had to prove that if a mere genius could revolutionalize puppetry to such an extent she would take it far and beyond to make it one of the, if not the most feared style of shinobi combat in the world.

Hm? We done already? Jazz asked in her usual monotone turning the page and completely ignoring the fact that Ka was pissed and Ada was sitting on what seemed to be thin air. That was cause for investigation perhaps that was what made the Zerin so feared their mysterious "vectors" due to their obscurity they wasn't much info about them in the library she would take great care to study Ada to learn about the clan as she didn't like to encounter things she could not analyze the threat level of.

Ada let out a long yawn as he waited for his teammates to begin their task. Such simple things just seemed like a waste of time now, but what ever. Ada help open the bag with his real hands and as the first weeds began to hit the ground Ada gave a snap to the bag as if calling for the weeds to come to him. Just as quickly as the weeds began being plucked from the ground they were being swooped up and tossed into the bag by what looked like no more than an evening breeze. Every so often Ada shifted the bag around as he repositioned his leg to get a little more comfortable. From Ada's prospective it was pretty slow going. Even with three people yanking weeds from the ground in this tiny garden it seemed to take hours for them to even make a dent in this menial work. Ka quickly spoke first breaking the minor silence among the group and Ada let out a sigh of relief. "Good finish and lets head home."

After he had finished his portion of the garden Ka would look at his team mate with a disgruntled look upon his face, although he knew by now voicing his issues would lead to pretty much n where with these two. He really couldn't understand why they were always so stubborn, his best guess was that they were coddled to much by their clans, always getting everything that they had wanted in life. Stalker would land next to Ka, who would sit on his back while watching Ada pick up the weeds while Jazz was still picking her weeds. "Let me know as soon as you guys are done, I'll head towards the Kage mansion and inform them of our completion" With that he would relax on Stalkers back and await his team mates words of confirmation, because the moment they would both Ka and Stalker would shoot into the air and back towards the main dome.

Jazz would continue to sit down before her doppelgangers would finish picking and giving the last of the weeds to Ada before vanishing as their jobs were complete, it would cause the original to do as Ka had asked of them. All done. Jazz said watching as Ka took off causing her to mentally chuckle as she knew that while he might of had a partial handle over her own personality her and Ada both critizing him riled him up more than anything. To her she had gotten some part of her revenge for the embarassment during the training session now all that remains is to get revenge on that overgrown cat with wings. She would however look towards Ada as she got up and prepared to head out as well, deciding since he had shared something and wasn't an idiot unlike Ka to perhaps share a bit to him as well. For what is is worth, I was intimidated by you when we first met as well.Try not to get left behind, Ada-teme. she said not being able to voice her actual words but the faintest smirk had appeared on her face for just a moment before it would vanish being replaced with her usual impassiveness as she walked away.

Ada let out a sign followed by a single laugh as Jazz followed Ka and left to her own way. Ada waited a moment, mentally preparing himself to get up again. "Wasn't intimidated princess." Ada said as he stood up, first on just one leg. Both vectors found their selves tieing around his leg to brace it. Slowly Ada picked up the bags of trash and headed to dispose of them.
