PostSubject: Zardj'Tali's Quest   14th November 2017, 5:33 pm

Zardj'tali looked at the stone with the brightest of eyes, like she was holding the most important thing in the world. Not that water wasn't incredibly vital of course. She spent a little longer than was really necessary looking at Grammy with widened, happy eyes. She was an interesting lizardfolk at least. She then waved her goodbye and dashed out of the cave with all the provisions and the water stone that she needed.

Indeed when the little Lizardfolk dashed out of the burrow Zardgrammy hoped that she would come back, it was always so sad when night approached and the number of hatchlings had decreased. Either way, this wasn't her story but Zardj'Tali's and speaking of her when she dashed outside she would see the wasteland that surrounded their home. It was barren, and even the swamp looked devoid of life as the mangroves scattered about were devoid of leaves. Of course, she could do what the others had and look for another place to hunt or perhaps she would try her best to look for something to eat which had adapted to the miserable life things had within this swamp.

ZardJ'tali looked around the second she was out of the hatching area, not even looking back and aiming to find something. She didn't want to go far, she felt lost to the world but everything in her mind was driving her outwards in to the world. The swamp looking good and fun though. Keeping herself hunched low, thinking it meant she could get through smaller spaces along with the slower more careful steps, and heading towards said swamp to check it out.

So she chose the swamp, interesting to see where exactly this would lead her, either way as she continued onward she would find that the swamp was indeed seemingly devoid of life though as she continued to walk she would end up seeing a rather large mushroom up ahead. It was easily the same size as her and it seemed to fit right along with the rest of the swamp due to it's color and it's location being in the shade cast by one of the larger mangroves. Whether she decided to approach it to investigate or ignored it completely was up to her, but it didn't seem like there was any other potential food source in plain sight.

J'Tali looked over the large mushroom, forked tongue flicking. She hunched down even lower, making sure that she could take the most silent route possible whilst staying so low to the ground. With it's size she didn't want to risk it not being alive. It was big after all, surely it could fight back if she tried to take a bite out of it. And with sneaking up close, she would lunge for just that.

As the young Lizardfolk tried to sneak up to the mushroom she would find that the swamp floor let out a squelch with each step alerting her potential prey to her approach, however the mushroom wouldn't move and when she lunged and attempted to sink her fangs into the mushroom's cap it wouldn't even break it's "skin". The Myconid would open it's eyes revealing that it was a monster just like the Lizardfolk and she would notice that a tingling feeling was coming from the parts of her body in contact with the Myconid, however she didn't feel any pain which might be able to clue her in on the fact that though it was trying something it didn't seem to be effective on her thanks to her durable scales protection.

Big lump stronger than egg. She realised she needed to work on her stealth too, but the Myconid didn't seem to react to her before the lunge at least. With a grumble she left her fangs trying to sink in, hoping that she could pierce through with enough time. She also knew she had one advantage, the silly thing didn't have a tail. Probably lost it. It looks silly. She swung her tail around, trying to find a slim area on the main section of it's body to wrap around. She didn't know these mushroom people, but she knew she needed to breath, so why wouldn't they.

Zardj'tali would find herself having more success with the second bite as she managed to open a small puncture for each fang in the Myconid's cap however her real success was her being able to wrap her tail around it's stalk and proceed to squeeze on it as she was right to think that it needed to breathe just like she did. The Myconid's eyes would proceed to shine only for it to dim, as it's attempt at harnessing it's magic failed, it would proceed to get more desperate at trying it's best to survive the predicament it was in. Usually when things tried to eat it, it would just look unappetizing enough to deter them as such it hadn't really built much experience in fighting and of all the opponents to come across it just had to be a Lizardfolk. Well as it seemed Zardj'tali was winning this battle slowly and unless the Myconid pulled out a trump card, all was set in her favor.

ZardJ'Tali would keep squeezing with both her jaw and her tail, refusing to be dislodged as she was finding out her tactic was working. She felt her fighters instinct warning her though to be careful. It was working, but the shroom was not dead. Yet. She could feel the struggling, tightening her arms around to support herself, and keeping her fang lodged in to the hole it had pierced with effort, with the slightest of jerks of her jaw trying to tear in to the flesh too for more harm than a mere puncture.

The Mycnod would suffer even more at the end of the Lizardfolk's actions however when it's eyes glowed once more, Zardj'tali would feel like her once durable scales were weakened by some kind of unknown force and as a result the tingling feelings she felt would grow in intensity until it was painful as if the Myconid was sapping her life away. As a result the wound she opened on it's body would actually begin to heal a bit as it fed off of her body and used it to repair it's own. Now the battle was more even as the Mycnonid did what it's species were known to do namely survive.

ZardJ'tali shivered feeling her scales tingling all over, and realising that this wasn't working as well any more. The shroom was fighting back. Likewise she noticed it repairing itself from her attempts at tearing the flesh. Trying to work out if it was the right thing, she began to rock her body hard to through the shroom off balance, aiming to wrestle it to the ground, trying to make it harder to concentrate as her claws and teeth continued trying to pierce the flesh and tear it up faster than any of the healing.

With her continued efforts Zardj'tali would eventually manage to kill the Myconid which she had stumbled upon in her adventure within the swamp. The Myconid would shudder as life left it's body and then still and with the feeling of becoming stronger the young Lizardfolk would have the fact that she won this fight cemented in her mind. Now she had the choice of eating the Myconid after all she would be getting hungry if she wasn't already from hunting her prey in the first place, as well as either returning home or searching for more food albeit risking being out at night if it doesn't prove fruitful immediately.

ZardJ'Tali remained planted firmly on to the shroom even after it died, she didn't trust it. But slowly her tail uncurled from it's throat, and nothing moved. Even the tingling seemed to be over. Giving it one last little kick to confirm, she began to celebrate. She looked over it, feeling her stomach grumbling, rubbing at it as she looked over her catch. She made her choice however, ZardGrammy was so nice, and she wanted to show her what she was capable of. And so she wrapped her tail back around the dead shroom and pulled it back with her towards the old nest. She paused briefly, ripping a chunk of loose flesh from her assault to eat on the way back to sustain her briefly before getting in to the proper meal.

Zardj'tali would manage to return back to her home, which would draw this day to a close. It wasn't obvious to her that her actions had an effect on the world around her but in time she would come to understand that even something as basic as a single individual surviving day by day could prove instrumental in the Great Forest's ecosystem. What consequences would arise from her killing the Myconid however, would be seen in the future.

(Zardj'tali exits)

Day 2 Begins when she joins this topic again unless she chooses to head out once more. Please post in the Lizardfolk Burrow to continue your topic (Time of Day if she returns = Night).

Zardj'tali headed the warning she got given from Grammy when she first stepped out that day, and once Zardyaya was with her again she would share that knowledge. "Dark is bad, so not go far. Look for little prey going home. Learn to hunt little, and we can hunt big when light,"

Zardyay would nod understanding what Zardj'tali had informed her and she agreed as it would be better to start small then work their way up to big hunts as such she would look around mainly to see if there was any particular direction that Zardj'tali wanted to head to but if she didn't have one then they could head east maybe. Though it didn't seem like Zardj'tali did have a plan so she would head east anyways deciding to run as she didn't really have a sense that running around would be dangerous. She would continue to run hoping Zardj'tali was following her until they heard a cry for help, which Zardj'tali would recognize as coming from one of the two Lizardfolk that were born right after her. Would she continue to assist her brethren or would she instead ignore it and decide to head somewhere else with her easily excitable companion?

"Ah no, Zaryaya please no run," ZardJ'Tali pleaded with her new young friend as she followed after the excitable girl. She let them go on east, not having much a plan for herself. She completly sped up once they heard the scream, as she didn't want Zardyaya running off again to investigate. Looking for the source she began to move, "You stay behind, we look and help, but we no big hunts. You no any hunts. We be careful and go home to Zardgrammy be happy to see back," She gave as best a warning as she could as they moved to investigate.

The Zardj'tali would see the source of the common as there was a lone human holding what seemed to be a sickle and brandishing it aggressively upward while he was being flanked by two Stamp Piglets with bows on their head. They were all seemingly looking up at a tree where a very distinct Lizardfolk was currently perched in she was distinct mainly because her entire head was covered in her shell minus the two eye-holes that were poked out and she was currently shaking seeing as she had been cornered by the human and his livestock. It was quite a bad situation for her that is unless Zardj'tali decided to assist her, perhaps with the assistance of Zardyaya who had remained behind only because she was more afraid of the unknown than anything.

J'Tali didn't like this sight, it was dangerous! Everything was telling her to run before she got her family hurt. But her family was in that tree, so how could she run. She put her hand onto Yaya, silently motioning at the human and to their fellow Lizardfolk up in the tree. She wasn't going to abandon either of them. "Be. Careful. Run if hurt. Help Zards." She spoke as quiet as she could to not alert either of their three enemies before she hunched low. She kept her eyes up for the most part, watching for reactions and movement, whilst she took quick glances down to make sure she wouldn't step on anything that would alert to their position. As soon as she could, she dived at the human, aiming to repeat as she did with the mush earlier and getting her tail tightly around the much easier to find throat. Once she had the grip with her tail she yanked down trying to slam the human in to the floor to pin them. She hoped by taking the initiative in attacking their bigger foe, that the unknown zard and ZardYaya might use their own initiatives to get the pigs.

Zardj'tali wasn't particularly stealthy something that Zardeggy saw and thus she would laugh to attract the Human's attention to her so that her kinfolk could attack him without being picked off. As a result while he wasn't toppled over Zardj'tali would wrap her tail around his throat and constrict it slowly suffocating him causing him to flail around for a bit at the sudden attack and he would grip at the tail to try and pull it off of him. Meanwhile Zardyaya would waste no time but would take her opening and use her claw to slash at the left Stamp Piglet's eye before attempting to slide away to prevent it from hitting her back. Clearly she had never done it before as she would slide for a bit before stopping while the Stamp Piglet would squeal in pain due to it's damaged eye. The other Stamp Piglet would rear back before slamming into the tree that Zardeggy was in causing her to grip it more securely lest she fall over and onto the ground. "Thanksssss for di assssissst big sssisss! Mean human jelly that I fly and he don't. Now want to kill me." Zardeggy said while plotting her next course of action as this was a pretty dangerous fight, fortunately for them it would seem as if the Human didn't speak their language and thus had no idea what they were saying. Now that the two other Lizardfolk were closer they could see that their odd ally had actually tied broad leaves to her arms which made her appearance even stranger.

ZardJ'Tali groaned as the man was stronger than the mush was. But she was more than thankful for the help she got from the two different lizardfolk. She continued pulling, but realised that she needed to work in a different way to bring them down. "Get squealers. Take each. Watch back," Once she had given the order she turned her body to drive her nails in to the back of the human's leg, stabbing in deep before curling and yanking back out, hoping to rake out from the inside.

Zardyaya excitedly grinned as she was getting praised for this, for helping ZardJ'Tali who was nice to her. "This one I got it's eye! I did it!" She was bouncing in spot for a second before she was lashing out again at the pig she attacked to keep it's focus on her as she was watching ZardEggy turning on the branch to prepare. She could see enough to know to take advantage of the missing eye, continuing to aim at clawing at the face.

ZardEggy was waiting for their moment, checking over the leaves tied to her arms were tight enough to hold. And then she was ready. Arms wide she leaned off of the branch and letting the air catch under her to glide in to the right place, before folding in suddenly, dropping and kicking at the other Pig in it's fat back to hit the spine.

Zardj'tali would manage to slash the human's leg and by twisting her body she would cause him to teeter off balance and fall to the ground, however he would manage to pry her tail from around his neck and free himself with him rolling along the ground before trying to pick himself up. As for his Stamp Piglets, the one which had it's eye slashed by Zardyaya would squeal in pain before rushing towards her, and though she managed to try and claw at it's face it would cut into the left part of it's snout causing it more disability and she would end up getting tackled by it. As for Zardeggy she would swoop down from above and hit the other Stamp piglet's back causing it to squeal in pain and almost fall over. Fortunately for her it was unable to strike her back because it couldn't really get to her since she had attacked it's back where it couldn't reach.

P-ro-tec-t m-e! The Human said saying something which the Lizardfolk had no idea about but it was evident that the Stamp Piglet's understood him seeing as they would abandon their current adversaries to try and rush over to him to buy him time to stand up again. This would leave the battle at Zardj'tali having been thrown off of him, Zardyaya being knocked down from the tackle and Zardeggy having managed to land on the spine of the Stamp Piglet she was attacking.
