--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the tale of Cherish Dokusei, and how she turned from a little girl who was cursed with a weak Toxic vapor to how she became an alcohol obsessed slacker dreaming of the day that she'd show her clan that she'd become a powerful representative of her clan. It all started during the first year of the academy really, Cherish had joined a classroom of twenty four however within the first month four had already dropped out as they couldn't keep up with the rest. During spars Cherish had been taken aside and informed that she'd spar with the other Dokusei so that she wouldn't cause harm to others this was fine she always sparred with her clan members as any young Dokusei did until they could control when they emitted their toxic vapor. But that was just it, she had never quite emitted toxic vapor not once not even during the sanctioned spars as a result she was often the one who ended up passing out during the spars while her fellow Dokusei opponent was fine, it was odd and she had to be taken tot he clan medics for testing.

Further testing revealed that she was born with a defect her toxic vapor producing organs were weakened causing her vapor to be released from her pores in much more limited quantities which affected it's radius while the strength of her toxic vapor was very much reduced. In fact if she didn't constantly force herself to utilize it, it was quite possible that she wouldn't ever be able to activate it. Even though her parents didn't show it it was obvious that they pitied her, as toxic vapor was one of the prides of the Dokusei being able to take opponents down without lifting a finger born form their need to survive the harsh wastelands of the Land of Shadows an area with magma and lava yet the strongest plants thrived despite the ash and brimstone filling the air. Of course seeing that they tested everything else about her, her blood, her ability to manipulate plant life her chakra affinities. Thankfully that was the only problem with her but from then on she was brought to spar with the other members of the academy while at home she was encouraged by her parents to try and use her toxic vapor as much as possible as a Dokusei without it was...a cripple.

Her elders tended to either look towards her with pity or disdain but she didn't let it get to her and always put a smile on her face being nice to those who deserved it and trying to please those who didn't. For a good while she became a meek individual as she tried to cope with the fact that she was different from her clan but that was before a T. Jonin who wasn't apart of her clan noticed her. She demanded that Cherish call her Nee-san and taught her other things not simply just clan stuff she had dual affinities for Water and Earth, water being her primary one and she used water so fluidly that it was perhaps her trademark. She could use it as normal water, mix it with blood for her Crimson tide, mix it with Sake for Seasick Wave and finally her favorite perhaps was making it into sweet sticky syrup that she occasionally ate as a treat when she was hungry on missions. Her Nee-san was actually trying to become a culinary shinobi, a type of medical nin who focused on creating food and assisting their allies in combat that way. It was mainly because she enjoyed food and growing up with civilian parents in the food industry she wanted to retain her bonds with them.

Cherish of course was hooked, learning multiple things from her Nee-san much to the dismay of her parents and clan. But they were the ones who treated her as if something was wrong with her while her Nee-san saw her potential. She would learn Water Release first, focusing on her syrup as Nee-san wanted to wait until she was older and not such a "light-weight" to teach her. The first was a bullet of syrup that Nee-san used when people backtalked her to stick their mouths shut, it had taken weeks but she picked it up and they had celebrated with ice-cream which was another lesson in disguise as her Nee-san asked her to pick a flavor to add to her own sticky water so it could always taste yummy and smell sweet. She choose strawberry and began to learn an earth release technique which granted her armor to protect her body from physical attacks which took a month and a half but she got it too. Slowly but surely her meek shell was being broken through and even her parents were happy that their daughter had found another way to show her stuff.

But not everything goes how it was planned, her Nee-san had petitioned the council to take Cherish as her apprentice, which they agreed after she completed a mission into Ibaragakure rescuing some refugees along with a squad of T. Jonin. The mission fell through as they were ambushed by dobutsu and that was the last time Cherish saw her nee-san, she was devastated in mourning for months her grade's plummeting as she lost the will to carry on. Her parents tried to cheer her up but it was to no avail, sure enough she eventually managed to pick herself up after one of her Nee-san's squad member's gave her a letter addressed to her in the event that her Nee-san died. After she read it...she changed, she wouldn't be held down by mourning and took up alcohol as tribute to her nee-san's memory changing from the meek girl to one who never let anyone see her in pain constantly smiling and drinking when she felt any inkling of sadness. Sure enough the alcohol became her crutch as much as it was her habit, and she became an alcoholic yet that didn't hurt her chances as a shinobi as she had inherited her Nee-san's small collection of techniques as she had already come to be seen as her apprentice even after her death.

She worked hard, not simply stopping at mastering the Alcohol Style  and Syrup style techniques she could learn but likewise learning the Earth Release techniques her Nee-san kept in scrolls. One of them creating sinkholes in the ground for people to fall into, the other creating a dust cloud to cover the area. She understood their purpose taking to some of the Crimson Tide techniques though due to her own acidic blood she could potentially make it even more deadly, though blue rather than red due to her being a Dokusei. She would attempt to use them in succession covering the area with alcoholic mist before clumping it together with dust, and discovering how to utilize her Nee-san's own unique method of physical fighting the "Drunken Fist". Which was perhaps the most interesting way of fighting she had ever known being able to glide out of the way of a strike within a single inch to reply with a quick counter attack before the opponent can pull back. She even learned how to take it to the next level using both alcohol to thin her blood before using the pain numbing she got from being shit-faced in her own fighting style which she called "Azure Fist" due to her blue blood being spilled while fighting opponents corroding everything it touched. Gone was the cripple, or the weak girl, now Cherish would try to live true to her name and cherish every moment of her life and those she held dear if not for herself, then for her Nee-san; Savannah. Thus that is how her story goes, and honestly it'll be quite the ride to see how it ends, don't you think?

Nature Release Training - Weekly
C-rank Azure Fist: Iron Claw
C-rank Chakra Scalpel

--------------------------------------------------

Cherish was training her elemental manipulation it was difficult since she had a strong Fire affinity which was messing up her concentration of balancing her water and earth in order to make use of her bloodline limit to produce Nature release. Still she had followed the instructions in the Dokusei library and was now meditating concentrating on flowing Water Release chakra into her left hand while flowing Earth Release chakra into her right hand she would focus on mixing the two as she put her hands together. If anyone had chakra vision right now they'd be able to see the manipulation of her chakra to tell her what she was doing right or wrong but since it was only her in the training ground for now she would just have to make do on her own. The process of converting two primary chakra nature release transformation into a singular dual combination chakra nature release transformation was something said to be possible for an Academy level Dokusei clan simply due to their high affinities in water and earth respectively. Cherish on the other hand had good affinities for those two but her best affinity was fire and thus she had taken longer to develop her nature release affinity as it was more difficult for her.

If not for her recent promotion she wouldn't of even tried to do this instead sticking to harnessing the two affinities she could use and honing her Drunken & Azure Fist. The latter she had developed another technique for, she called it Iron Claw and it was pretty deadly like all of her Azure Fist techniques. This one she would have to take great care when using simply due to the corrosive nature of her blue blood and the fact that if she was drunk the blood leaking out of the wound would be a lot more than usual making it a double edged sword in those circumstances one likely to greatly weaken her or even kill her due to blood loss if she wasn't careful. Truth be told she would feel a lot more confident if she could get some sort of blood pills or something like that it would really help with her techniques.. there weren't a lot of medics nowadays and the select few didn't produce drugs it had been left to the civilians most of which had left the shinobi to rot and fled to Epsilon.

But that wasn't something she should even be focusing on at the moment, she was losing sight of what was important just like when she learned how to do chakra scalpel for the first time she had spent the rest of the day trying to see what she could cut with it instead of working on something else. But hey she was buzzed so it made sense, right now she was sober an- I'm doing it...I can feel the Nature Release chakra flowing within my body. Cherish exclaimed extremely glad that she was able to coax her Nature Release chakra affinity out she would have to keep practicing to develop it but for now she was satisfied and would lay back to look at the fake skyline granted by the dome of Dipugakure.

Cherish had been promoted to genin rank, and while she was scared she knew she couldn't afford to hold back in her training anymore and slack off. So when the meeting ended she would head home and go into her closet and pull out the scrolls marked "Genin rank only" having set them aside when she got her inheritance from Nee-san. They were a list of techniques which her mentor had used that she wanted to likewise add to her own technique list so as to continue her mentors legacy. She would also pull out her notebook where she had taken to writing down her own ideas for techniques along with hand seals so that seemed to feel right so that once she made them she could add them to scrolls and teach her own apprentices if she ever got any. Once she checked that she had everything she would leave her home to head to the training grounds in the north dome so that she could practice the techniques.

The first three were all similar, simply advanced versions of techniques she already possessed all revolving around the concept of creating a sphere of chakra and launching it from her throat like a bullet. As a result she got the hand seals down fairly quickly with each only having one more than the original versions before launching out a sticky bullet of syrup. She would take a sip from her gourd before repeating the hand seals this time releasing an alcohol tainted bullet of water, and finally she would bite her cheek this one not needing hand seals as she spat out a vibrant blue glob of water which had her corrosive blue blood mixed in with it. She wouldn't practice that much with them seeing as they were just upgrades of things she already knew and would move on to the next techniques that she wished to learn. The first two were elemental versions of non-elemental ninjutsu techniques which she knew, both of the water release the first being Body Replacement and the second being the Chakra Scalpel. She had to concentrate for the first but found out how to mix in her water release chakra only after about thirty minutes allowing her to quickly swap places with some of the water from her spit out Drunken Water Bullet. Once she did that figuring out the Water Release: Chakra Scalpel was child's play Cherish testing it on the inside of her mouth. She would find out that it helped to clean the blood away from the injury as she could see the blood swirling in it only to rest near her wrist while the remaining part of the scalpel remained clear.

The last remaining water release techniques were different yet could be used in a combo, they were the Water Clone technique and the Water Prison Technique, two techniques which were a staple among Dipugakure shinobi. Yet Cherish wanted to be different and thus would mix cause her Water Clones to be infused with her syrup and caused them to fight each other revealing that when dissolved they became sticky and could immobilize things. The Water Prison she decided to use Sake for as she felt that if a person was going to be immobilized they might as well be intoxicated as well, besides she could simply use her Sticky Water Clones to make the prisons if she wanted to have both effects. Cherish would pant a bit having used a fair bit of chakra however it was good as by constantly pushing her limits she was training her endurance and learning how to function with mild chakra exhaustion.

She would make hand seals before slamming the ground causing it to cave in as she used her Grand Bowl technique and as she fell she would follow up with another set of hand seals causing water to fall from the rim of the bowl and begin to flood the bottom some of the sake in her gourd evaporating as a result. She'd follow up with another set expelling mud from her mouth to push her upward causing the water basin to become a muddy swamp allowing her to safely fall without injury. She would land tucking her body into a ball to cause her to flip and would find that she had unconsciously cycled earth release chakra through her body causing her to dive into the swamp with ease. Since it was on her list she didn't really mind all that much and would practice moving underground refining it until she was able to do so as silently as possible as she didn't want to be helpless when her vision was obscured. She would emerge from the swamp completely clean thanks to her Underground Projection Fish technique before diving back underground and making hand seals. This would cause multiple layers of rock to burst out of the swamp sealing off nothing with them. Cherish would swim toward it before climbing on the barrier all the way to the top before panting only having enough chakra for a single technique. But she had to master it and thus would make hand seals jumping off to land on the swamp only for it to turn into Loamy soil, she'd smile as she had completed what she set out to do only to pass out from chakra exhaustion...a job well done.

Specialization Specialist - Teaching Specialist [Half Post Count for Combination Techniques]

***

Cherish realized that being on a squad she would be relying on others to protect her and others would be relying on her to protect them, she thought about her squad as well as her sensei having just met them happy that she had ended up with her friend since the academy Summer. Their abilities as a squad complemented each other or at least Summer and Cherish did, while Summer specialized in kenjutsu but was capable of not only using her Diamond Release with chakra flow but also Kinjutsu techniques which looked pretty scary. She herself had told Cherish that she was more of a defensive type of fighter better at protecting others from harm and tanking the hits as they landed it had given her relief because she definitely wasn't. Cherish was more supportive, it stemmed from her dream of becoming a liquor connoisseur while still upholding the legacy of her Nee-chan. She specialized in Ninjutsu of both Water Release and Earth Release, though now that she was a genin she had managed to coax out her Nature Release clan kekkei genkai out. Still she knew that she had a powerful fire affinity but had neglected it for now, though when she got more skilled she knew she was going to delve into harnessing it. After all her Nee-san had both water and fire as her own chakra affinities and she had seen them both being used in tandem it was devastatingly beautiful yet elegant at the same time.

But she was going off track, she knew Medical Ninjutsu though she was limited due to her rank but was ever eager to learn more, she also knew Kinjutsu due to knowing that her blood had unique properties. It was the minor kekkei genkai of the Dokusei Clan after all, blue blood which was corrosive to all but a Dokusei due to the natural composition of their cells. Still it was dangerous and she was best suited to changing the battlefield around her to assist her allies and heal their injuries in combat. She hoped the third member of their squad would be an offensive specialist they were lacking it right now and she did hope that Tierno knew things that would help them. He didn't seem like he fit, he used releases which didn't have any similarities with either her or Summer nor did he use technique arts which were similar to their own. She wished she had a teacher who shared her chakra natures so she could learn from them, not to mention Summer had Diamond which was pretty similar to her non-mud based earth techniques. Not that Cherish had any since she preferred mud and swamp based earth release due to them mixing the best with her water techniques if she wanted things to be solid all she had to do was to ask Summer to crystalize it for her.

Hey what am I even worrying for, I'm a genin now and only a couple of weeks ago I was in the academy, they won't put together a squad without really considering it right? Everything will be fine and we'll be the best squad ever maybe even because of our teamwork I just have to do my part.

Specialization Training - Tactics [Advanced +3 B-ranks] (Breakdown into 6 D & 2 C)
Debauchery Plants
***

Cherish was in her clan grounds reading up on a book about plants, she had unlocked her Nature Release elemental bloodlimit much to the approval of her parents as they didn't think she ever would as it was hard enough for her to learn how to use earth and water release. Not that she craved their approval anymore if anything she did it for her Nee-san since before she died she always told her that if you work hard enough for something you'd get it. So she worked on trying to combine her two lesser affinities and sure enough it worked and she turned the chakra paper she was using into wood which made her pretty happy when she found out. Instead of consulting the usual clan archives she decided to keep reading her Nee-san's notes and the books she had gotten on plants as even when she was younger she had something of a green thumb. Then again she was a Dokusei even if she was an outcast thanks to her strong fire affinity it didn't mean she was incapable of gardening one could say it was in her blood heh. For now she was reading how to take care of plants, regarding planting them in loamy soil, watering them periodically so that they do not dry up and can sprout, how tilling the earth and fertilizing it prior to planting seeds helped and increasing the speed and size of plants grown. It was all pretty interesting and she was already thinking of ways to create techniques specifically for such things, if she could create plants which were meant for producing alcohol well... that just meant by fertilizing them and making soil rich in nutrients that it would only end up making them more powerful in the long run. It would likewise allow her a greater degree of area control as long as she could first set up the area to her advantage, all in all she figured it would be a useful skill for her to pick up and would really help her later on.

She would go to the store after she finished reading, deciding to stop by a flower shop and see if they sold seeds for roses, she always liked them and she knew that the first step in her becoming a gardener would be buying some for her own personal use. She knew she could simply modify them with her plant god but wanted to have a control group so she could learn how fast they grew normally and live for before dying. That way she could figure out exactly what to do to them for them to be used in combat, a little known fact was that plants modified by the Dokusei clan didn't have a long lifespan mainly because the chakra used to forcibly change them was geared toward fast results for battle rather than long term maintenance. The clan actually had more techniques geared at lengthening the lifespan of the trees produced than they did for actually producing plants though those were mainly earth release and water release as more nutrient rich earth techniques and purer water techniques resulted in the lifespan of the plants increasing and lasting longer. There were even fuinjutsu techniques which were made to make sure that the plants continued to live whether by increasing their ability to harness light to grow or slowing down their natural growth speed when not being exposed to beneficial things like water, fertilizer or sunlight. All in all it was really useful for her as reading all of this helped her understand exactly how she could care for and sustain the growth of plants.

Specialization Training - Tactics [Perfect +5 A-ranks] (Breakdown into 3 A, 4 B)
------------------------------------------

Cherish had been a genin for quite sometime, although initially it was wierd with their sensei Gorotsuki being absent a lot due to the war and the conflict between their now ex-teammate Colt Juryoku it would seem after the war had died down they got a new teammate Omito Fantom that things actually settled down. Each of them had acclimated to their roles nicely, Summer was defense, Omito was offense and she was support. They all had the things that they were good at; Summer was a whiz at Kenjutsu and was learning how to incorporate her genjutsu into it along with her kinjutsu use, Omito was mainly reliant on his special ability and thus was well versed in Ronin Tech, and expressed and interest in Shurikenjutsu and genjutsu whereas Cherish herself was more interested in Ninjutsu was honing her fledgeling Medical Ninjutsu skills and dabbled in Taijutsu. She didn't know what they were going to do in the future but she did have some idea of the potential things they could get into later but overall she knew they were going to be a well balanced squad.

She hadn't told any of her teammates but once after drinking she had a very vivid dream showing herself and her future teammates as adults fighting something. Summer was riding on some giant black bird clad in diamond armor, her body sprouting wings and looking somewhat demonic like as if she had a juinjutsu. Cherish had markings on her body and was bringing forth the powerful senjutsu backed techniques of her clan two Wooden Humans one of which she continued to deck out while the other seemed to be taken over by Omito and turned into some eldritch nightmare. This was because the wooden human would seemingly be endlessly rotting while eveloped in greenish white flames as if possessed by some sort of otherwordly being comprised of flames from the netherworld. Their teamwork was flawless, Cherish would launched a Wooden Makara which would be set ablaze by fuma shuriken thrown by the possessed Wooden Human and set ablaze with greenish white flames. The flames would burn up the wood partially warping it while producing greenish-black ash which ascended into the air like some sort of demented storm clouds. Playing further on the storm clouds lightning no doubt controlled by Summer would repeatedly collide with whatever they were fighting causing roars of pain and anger.

The being would counter attack with a massive beam of chakra which Cherish would counter with a breath of potent blue flames exhaled from the Wooden Makara wrapped around her Wooden Human's waist and neck. On top of the statue she would release a jet of alcoholic water which would act as accelerant boosting the flames even further and causing them to become an even more vibrant blue which would clash against the beam making it a stalemate. While whatever they were clashing against was preoccupied with overpowering Cherish's counter-attack, the possessed Wooden Human would inhale before beating on his stomach and then processing to exhale massive bullets of wind one after another each of them breaking the sound barrier as they accelerated towards their target. Each were tinged with same greenish white hue and would repeatedly batter the opponent while revealing their payload as each seemed to have giant fuma shuriken concealed within them which would explode after the bullets drilled deep into the target's hide.

Yet it was not enough, and the being would fire off dense chakra compressed into a sphere with Cherish realizing only then that they were clashing against one of the tailed beasts. It looked like the end but it wasn't as Summer would swoop down still riding her black bird and would draw her blade while the diamond clad bird would flap both of it's wings forward resulting in the sphere being divided cleanly in half both parts being sent in opposite directions. Before they could detonate they were both encased in diamond feathers, which had been refracting the light to remain unnoticed until the right moment their respective explosions muffled completely a testament to the adult Summer's defensive might. As the Bijuu roared again the scenery would change revealing that they were fighting in defense of Kohaigakure within the scorching desert. Cherish would proceed to make hand seals after Summer shouted something and upon slamming her hands down on the head of her wooden human the ground would rumble as the desert terrain was filled with water and out from the water rose a dense forest. Suddenly a more powerful tailed beast bomb was fired which Summer had been unable to block since she was dealing with other attacks hurtling towards the village.

It was aimed at Cherish who had been in the middle of changing the landscape yet right before it hit the possessed Wood Human would teleport in front of her and take the hit managing to protect her completely. Even though it was a dream Cherish would cry out and jump off of her wood huma to lad on the ground where Omito was laying her hands glowing with medical chakra to treat him. At the sight of her teammate being injured Summer would scream in rage before biting her hand and jumping off of the black crow she had already to summon another one which dwarfed the former in size. She would clash against the beast on her own to buy her teammates time only supported by the first black bird and the new one both of them working in tandem with her own abilities as the first weilded crystal the latter possessing Ash. Cherish would heal the injuries Omito sustained and quickly sweep him in a hug which would progress into a deep kiss which caused the sleeping Cherish at the time to blush deeply as she didn't know what sort of thing her subconcious was implying.

It only lasted for a bit though as they would break away and Omito would teleport himself and Cherish back on top of her Wooden Human. He would nod to her before possessing it while she made hand seals and clapped her hands together and after gigantic puff of smoke revealed the Dokusei clan's trump card, the 1000-Armed Kan'on with the possessed Wood Human seated on top of it's head with all of it's additions, the Wooden Makara, the amber coating it's main body being tainted as well. Now in it's hands was a giant folding fan construct of ectoplasm. Summer's first summon had dispersed during the conflict while the second would pull back and perch itself on the shoulder of the Kan'on further showing exactly how large the wooden construct was. Cherish would slam one of her hands down while holding the other in the seal of reconcilation which would cause multiple wooden hands to burst up around the Bijuu restricting it from moving. While she did that multiple fuma shuriken constructs comprised of ectoplasm would manifest in front of the possessed Wooden Human. Summer's Crow, she could identify it now that it was close to the dream her would take off just as the Wooden Makara would exhale the blue flames engulfing each of the fuma shuriken, which had begun rotating, and turning them into numerous blue-green fire tornados with white outlines. Each of them would be launched forward with a single swing of the now unfolded fan and the crow would fly around them while dropping diamond clad feathers into them and a trail of ash behind it sweeping them into forming a massive tornado with three layers. The outside being ash fueled by wind, the second layer being blue-green ghost ghastly flames and the inner layer being razor sharp diamond feathers all of which would collide with the immobilized tailed beast causing it to literally scream in agony.

She had woken up at that moment and had groaned at not being able to see the end but she had literally been shaking from a mixture of awe and excitement. Who cares if she was so drunk her dream was out of this world her team was awesome she had to find a way to make those dreamt up skills happen. But only after she dealt with this hangover. Ugh.

Water Release: Great Drunken Exploding Water Colliding Wave
----------------------------------

Cherish had finally gone home only to end up getting chewed out by her parents for spending so much on the Clan's tab, she tuned it out though she knew they were only yelling at her because they were probably pressured by her other relatives or the clan elders. They all viewed her in three ways, either she was deformed, a drug addicted rebel or a lost cause who they tried to ignore existed, regardless the general concensus was that she was an outcast. Sure she had wanted to show them all up with her exam but since she was defeated in the first round they just judged her promotion a fluke or worse a pity promotion born out of the necessity for the Allied Shinobi Nations needing more higher rank shinobi to send on missions. In their opinion a genin would bring an uproar if sent on a C-rank mission alone to die but a "chunin" would just be written off like a random occurence. Her mother even had the nerve to suggest maybe she should apply for a desk job now that Cherish was a chunin while her father said that she didn't have to prove anything to them.

The sheer audacity, they didn't even know her it wasn't like they spoke to each other no the only time she had conversations with her parents was if she went to the bathroom and unfortunately ran into them. Or if she wanted a bite to eat from the fridge and they happened to be in the living room or kitchen a rare occurence since when she wasn't outside she locked herself in her room so they wouldn't bother her. Still this time instead of taking the lecture silently she vented somethings of her own, about how they treated her like a cripple and neglected her or how when she was younger all she wanted to do was make them proud and felt crushed each time she didn't live up to their standards. About how before she met her Nee-san she was unhappy all the time and felt like dying, about how much she hated being in the house with them and now that she was a chunin she would be moving out. They reacted with disbelief, shame her mother crying and anger her father calling her heartless. But really she didn't care she just left to go somewhere, she was out of booze and didn't have the money to waste on a pack of cigarettes so she decided to go to the training grounds and train.

She had managed to borrow an A-rank water release scroll from the Dipugakure library Chunin got to borrow up to a max of five and this was her first and for it she had chosen Exploding Water Colliding Wave. She knew that she would mainly learn the hand seals and figure out how to alter it into her own custom variant she was thinking Alcohol style as she needed a way to produce a huge amount of alcoholic water. Once she got to the training ground she would unfurl the scroll and begin reading. "This technique is a larger version of the Water Release: Exploding Water Colliding Wave. With it, the user spews out a massive amount of water, covering an entire area with crushing waves. The produced ocean of water can be used for further techniques, and even gathered into a gigantic water prison, which is the most commonly seen use by the originator." Cherish said reading it out loud while she sat in the middle of the training grounds and thinking about how she would use it. Hm, if I replace Rabbit with Dog I could make it into a stream when following up with Ram prior to clapping my hands to initiate it. Hm actually by holding the Ox hand seal I could probably extend the activation time of the technique to produce more water it'll cost me more chakra to maintain but it would be quite useful to flood an area" she thought to herself while making notes on a blank scroll so she could keep track of her adjustments. She would practice the hand seals thankfully they were similiar to the original to the point that she could just alter the hand seals rather than ending with Snake to instead replace it with Dog -> Ram -> Clap Hands with an optional Ox if she wanted to expell more water without ending the technique.

After about twenty minutes she managed to slip into a good enough routine that she could bother trying to actually attempt it. She would slip the scroll into her flak jacket so it didn't get wet along with the one she was writing on and open her gourd to drink some of the sake she had bought for the day within it. Preforming it as slowly as possible to make sure she molded her chakra exactly right she could feel the build up in her stomach which would move to her throat as her seals progressed and then upon clapping her hands her cheeks would end up puffing up as alcoholic water filled them. This would cause her to expel a vast quantity of water causing her eyes to widen at how fast and violent it was pouring out not to mention the drain on her chakra reserves was immense she knew if she had preformed it months earlier it would of easily taking at least a quarter of her pool. Now though she had enough chakra to pull it off and even more seeing as she had switched to hold the Ox hand seal just to see exactly how much she could put out in one go. Sure enough not not only was the entire area around a one hundred and sixty foot radius around her covered in water but said water was quickly rising as she kept the technique active.

"Damn...this technique is...amazing I can't wait to show this off to Girlie and Ghosty." Cherish said thinking outloud and swimming in the massive lake she created deciding to relax a bit and paddling with her feet while she kept practicing the hand seals.

A-rank = Water Release: Drunken Syrup Dragon Whirlpool
-----------------------------------------------

While she swam she got an idea, she had been going over the Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet technique while she remained locked in her room, it was her Nee-san's favorite technique and she always thought it was weird because it had so many hand seals yet was only a B-rank technique. It was only once she understood water elemental nature transformations and began creating her own jutsu that she understood exactly how ingenious the technique was. The Water Dragon Bullet had that many hand seals because it was encompassing more than just that specific technique, the additional hand seals were so that one could use that specific technique in numerous different variations and if one understood ninjutsu theory they could actually not only reduce the seals to the key components but create multiple techniques from isolating the specific hand seals which do certain things. To that end she had spent hours breaking it down comparing her other water release techniques and with it she had written down hand seals for what she thought would be 6 new techniques.

These were Water Release: Drunken Syrup Dragon Bullet, her own derivative of the Water Dragon Bullet technique, which she used as the basis for the Water Release: Drunken Syrup Dragon Whirlpool, Water Release: Drunken Syrup Dragon Whip & Water Release: Explosive Bite of the Drunken Syrup Dragon. The two techniques were A-ranks while the last was an SS-rank due to it's complexity, they actually were even arranged in the other of most complex since the second technique took aspects from her variants of the Water Whip and Running Water Whip two basic Water Release techniques she had found within the Dipugakure library. The other 3 variations were still theoretical but she was going with Water Release: Drunken Syrup Dragon Tornado, Water Release: Water Release: Drunken Syrup Dragon Mist & Water Release: Drunken Syrup Dragon Fang in regards to their names though each one of them were A-rank techniques as well. Seeing as she had a large supply of water she figured she might as well work on one of the techniques so she could iron out the hand seals and figure if her theoretical work was in fact practical.

She decided to go with the easiest one, Water Release: Drunken Syrup Dragon Whirlpool and decided to aim at one of the trees in the training ground which were currently surrounded by the water she had created from her Great Drunken Exploding Water Colliding Wave. She would manipulate the water shaping it into a Drunken Syrup Dragon before launching it forward while she formed two others which would trail behind it, the first dragon would impact the tree causing a loud cracking sound as the trunk was snapped in half but before it could hit the water surface it was hit by the second dragon. This would cause it to ascend upward due to the dragon grabbing it with it's jaws and when the third dragon hit it Cherish would clap her hands together hoping that it worked. Thankfully it did and the water spilling off from the airborne tree would swirl around creating a whirlpool around the trunk which would then drag it back downwards and into the water surface where it would remain at the bottom completely covered by water.

She would notice how the whirlpool remained as she kept her hands together though even when she seperated them the brutalized tree wouldn't rise upward as apparently the underwater currents were too strong for it to float to the surface. She knew that it would work well for drowning opponents and those who didn't need to breathe she could easily deplete their drunk limit. So she would spend the next hour trying different variations of how to trigger the technique ending up with discovering a total of five different methods whether starting it from utilizing eighteen water bullets typically either drunken or syrup but she suspected she'd be able to use her Water Release: Bloody spit with it as well if she needed to. The next was 4 Great Water Bullets also in the Alcohol or Syrup variants which she found to be the more easily done initiation as it was subtle enough to be just blocked allowing her to trigger the more deadly technique. After that she found she could use the Drunken Syrup Dragon Technique to launch 3 of them at an opponent which she knew she'd able to pull off fairly easily if she had clone support not to mention the speed and power of the water dragons were fearsome enough. Finally she learned how to trigger it without first having to hit opponents with bullets instead she can pay it as part of her Great Drunken Exploding Water Colliding Wave price as while she was expelling the additional water the initial surge would act to submerge multiple targets and upon clapping her hands to initiate it would create a huge whirlpool over the entire expanse of water dragging them below to be drowned...

Water Release: Great Sticky Waterfall Flow

-----------------------

Speaking of Whirlpools she had been working on creating a variant of Great Waterfall Flow one of the key components of Syrup Dragon Whirlpool Technique. The reason being that it was geared at creating whirlpools on water surfaces which typically were used to drown opponents thans to the churning of the water via the user's chakra. While it already was a dangerous technique Cherish wanted to make it even more so thanks to using her syrup style now now only would the whirlpools be dangerous in regards to dragging things underwater but likewise they would be comprised of syrup allowing them to stick to victims preventing them from escaping even more than usual. She knew the more skilled she got at altering the composition of her water ninjutsu to produce the sticky syrup the more dangerous contact with it would become. She had already explore alternatives to producing syrup such as the water clone seeing as she could just harvest the water in the area and convert it to syrup for her own uses. It was more expensive when she didn't have a ready supply of water to alter but she had larger chakra reserves than she used to have.

That was evident by the sheer scope of her water techniques and she would go over the handseals to initiate the techniques while she floated lazily in the pool of water she had created. It went Boar → Dog → Bird → Monkey → Ram → Ox and just like before she would practice the hand seals until she memoerized them and even more so until her muscles did. It was important for a heavy ninjutsu user like herself to have enough muscle memory to think of a technique and have her hands already go through the combinations needed to preform them without having to focus specifically on it. While she knew she would have to focus on the more high end techniques which comprised of over a dozen hand seals this wasn't one of them. Still she had experience with some techniques she used heavily enough that she didn't need to focus too much to preform them regardless of how many hand seals they had. One such example being her Drunken Syrup Water Dragon technique, then again she had eliminated all but the necessary hand seals for such a technique and subtituted the ones which pertained to her specific use.

B-rank = Earth Release: Earth Flow Spears
B-rank = Earth Release: Earth & Stone Bamboo Shot
B-rank = Azure Fist: Water Dragon Palm
B-rank = Teeter Dance: 3rd Step
A-rank = Earth Release: Tearing Earth Dragon
------------------------------------------

Identification, memorization, application & repetition. That was how her training sessions went, after she became a chunin she felt that was all she did. Identification, pick up a technique which would complete her skill set, something she had realized during her fight with Jazz was that she lacked in offense, while she could change the terrain and manipulate it to give her an advantage she lacked power moves. Sure she could drench the ground in alcohol, or coat it in mud or syrup she could even corrode it away when she mixed her blue blue into things but they were all auxiliary she lacked finishing power. She specialized in a dying art ninjutsu just wasn't as prominent as it used to be, now physical user's reigned supreme, or so they thought. When people saw as a stand alone technique she saw set ups, she could see where numerous techniques fit together like puzzle pieces, interchangeable and capable of forming a different end result depending on exactly which were chosen. Many didn't understand that in order to truly delve into ninjutsu one hand to understand the basics, flashy techniques were all good and well however they were and end result not a go too. She had fallen for the flashy technique trap as well before eventually understanding her folly when she sparred with her teammates, where she was forced to settle for shorter hand seal chains before Summer could hit her, or Omito could ensnare her in one of his illusions. How the pick which was best for the current situation and follow that with another while being pressed for time. The Rush of knowing that though it wasn't the best solution she could easily turn it to her favor with another technique, she understood why shinobi were feared ninjutsu was truly a marvel. It wasn't like physical combat or illusions it was something more something capable of not only doing the unpredictable things of illusion but leaving lasting physical effects on the world. It was a perfect mixture of the brute force of physical and the insidious subtlety of illusions yet most only saw it at it's face value, elements weren't just something to use but something the one had to become. When she used Water she had to know it, identify it's properties, know that alcohol was flammable & could be used to thin blood, know that syrup was adhesive, and fairly viscous, know that Azure ate through everything with enough time and because of that was dangerous to her allies. When she used Earth she had to shape it, analyze it's composition, rock was durable suitable for brute power, mud was malleable solid enough to suffocate or become hardened when exposed to fire yet liquid enough to sink into or cause others to slip and fall, soil was granular fostering life and strengthening whatever grown within it, swamp took the aspects of mud and syrup and multiplied them drowning victims unable to simply claw their way out. Identification, the realization that as she grew up so did her techniques, no more would she look at a technique the same, something which acted to trip someone could easily send them toppling into a jagged spike. Something which waters plant could alternatively be used for water torture or drown a bound opponent while expending minimal chakra.

Memorization, it didn't extend to just practicing the hand seals until her hands commited them to muscle memory, when before she could think of a counter her hands already were halfway through the motions. Alcohol, Syrup, Azure, Earth, memorization was more than just the hand seals it was what formed the bread and butter of a ninjutsu user. Being able to chain techniques together so it seemed like they flowed from one into another, it was supposed to be something only true masters of ninjutsu could do and yet as she continued to practice her technique she slowly understood that it wasn't mastery no it was instinctive. Something born through hard work and training, knowing ones techniques and noticing where one seal chain can lead into another, waiting before delving into nature was a boon as it allowed her to rely on certain techniques. When she used a technique she committed it's effects to memory, when it's weakness was exploited she remembered and learned how to compensate for it with something else. She had become over reliant on Underground Projection Fish, yet her fight with Jazz opened her eyes, if she couldn't rely on the ground to dive in then she would create her own earth and make it reliable. She had to understand when to use it when not to, when to expose her hand and when to rely on her other tools. She knew she wasn't the fastest or the strongest her true strength came from the environment, how ironic that the outcast of the clan truly understood what it meant to be Dokusei. Nature wasn't just plant life, it was the land, the sea, the sky and everything within each respective biome. Memory served as a reminder of exactly what nature could do, how she could cause geysers and landslides with the right combo, or  how she could capitalize on the terrain to her advantage. Utilizing the available materials she produced to chain into something more dangerous, remembering that she wasn't alone, she never was as long as she could produce clones they could serve as allies, bait, gateways, finishers the true versatility of elemental clones over the shadow clone was that while the latter could do anything the elemental clones were constructs of their respective element. From dust to dust, from water to water, they might be destroyed easier but materia remained and that could be harnessed for other things rapidly providing for her in ways not visible to those who do not understand exactly how dangerous elemental clones could be if left unchecked. Memorization, the process by which she could use a S-rank technique while just expending a three-quarters less chakra than she would if she had just preformed the technique itself.

Application, to put into effect the end result of the first two steps choosing the right technique and utilizing the right follow up to create a devastating effect. Usually it is the only thing one focuses on, why else would all water users seem to fight the same use the same techniques yet when a true master fights they take the over looked technique and turn them into an art form. How is it that one could take control of an opponents technique siphoning the element out and use it as fuel for their own counter. Many didn't understand how it was possible alternative uses of techniques besides their general use, that was application in it's truest form. To apply what one had learned in new and different ways outside of that of the norm. She could create a dragon comprised of water in seven different ways yet why is it that she had used the straight forward one, the one that others could easily anticipate and counter. It was actions like that a wrong application of a technique that caused ninjutsu to fall from prominence, it wasn't because hand seals fall prey to blitz tactics it was because rather than make the most of the simple techniques lesser shinobi chose to focus on the most visible ones. Spending chakra like it wasn't a finite resource instead of meticulously utilizing no more and no less than what is absolutely needed, when she was in her element she had fallen prey to such a thing. Now she knew better spars against her clones had given her insight into the weaknesses of the way she fought, she was too passive to reactive when she needed to know when to react and when to force a reaction. She couldn't afford to be passive not when her teammates relied on her, she was their support and the best support needed to know when to take action and when to facilitate openings. When to heal, when to buff, when to assist and when to fall back arugably it was the hardest role in the team it wasn't as simple as attacking or as repetitive as defending but constantly shifting changing so as to fill in the cracks left by the other two. Application, the fundamental use of what has been earned through constant training to suit any situation turning disadvantages into advantages and vice versa whether momentarily or permanently.

Repetition, is what she did every time she devoted herself to training or fighting, the constant cycle of the other three concepts made up the core of her being. It had been born from her experiences in life her loss, her victories and everything in between. If something didn't go her way the first time then she repeated it over and over until it was perfect. Repeat until her failure turned into success, if not for it then how could she have even become a chunin no if she didn't know the true meaning of repetition she truly would have become everything her parents and clan thought she was. She had to be strong not just for herself but her team, Summer, Omito even Reiver-sensei she wouldn't let her weakness drag them down it was just unacceptable. She wasn't blessed with natural talent she knew it, everyone did but she would train until she collapsed from chakra exhaustion, her fingers cramped up and while she lay in a semi state of unconsciousness she ran through mental scenarios to keep her mind active until her body could recover. She didn't like to reveal her serious side, before her team she was depressed and she had to keep up the facade that she was a drunken slacker uncaring about the world because the world didn't care about her. But now, she had things she cared about and if anything the exams had taught her that even though she might live up to her name and cherish things with all her being they could be taken away from her in seconds if she wasn't strong enough to protect them.

"Identification, Memorization, Application & Repetition." She would mutter to herself and open her eyes only to reveal her surrounded by a completely warmed terrain. Spikes protruding from different angles, mud slung at broken trees and training posts the remnants of a dragon comprised of wood seemingly to have been corroded to the point of leaving just a currently sizzling partially melted head. In the center of all the destruction was Cherish panting azure blood caked on her body her clothes torn and dirtied yet her eyes were still filled with a fierce determination which burned hotter than blue flames. She would look at the sky and sigh as the moons rays shined upon her body after a cloud freed it from it's confinement, she had been training all day and it was time to go back home. She flshed through seals and ended on rat before breathing once more and closing her eyes as she channeled chakra out of her constructs. Slowly they began to destabilize spikes retracting into the ground, mud sinking beneath the surface rock crumbling into soil and after about five straight minutes of concentration the training field was as good as new. The only evidence being the mangled trees and training posts which would look as if some over zealous physical user went to town on them, the evidence of her exploits hidden from all but herself. She would stick her gourds to her back and calmly preform the transformation technique to hide her barely clothed body and proceed to trudge her way to her house. Did her teammate notice, who knew she hadn't brought it up nor had they mentioned it, she knew all of them had been shaken by the events of the exams here she was a month late and still training as if she was fearful for her life. No that wasn't right, she wasn't afraid of losing her life, she was afraid of having someone else die that she could of saved if she had just been stronger. She knew it was the fate of a medic, the three rules were iron clad once she became an official medic, it was her fate to be the last to die in the worst case scenario. No not just her fate her duty, because she had to be the one to survive to keep her team alive and the one left alone if she couldn't piece them back together, it was a little wonder why medics were mandated to go to counseling almost as much as those in T & I even more than field shinobi the trauma from comrades dying and knowing that if only you had just a bit more chakra, a bit more skill a bit more...time that you could of saved them eventually broke even the strongest of wills. Everyone broke eventually, the difference between the best medics and the worst is that the best medics lost less people than they saved, but the end result was that even the best medic in the world couldn't save everyone. So her goal had been set, she had to become strong, she had to become the best because the more skilled she was the less likely she would have to attend another funeral like that of her Nee-sans. Closed casket, no body to bury, if she had to bury one of her teammates she would make damn sure every part of them was in that box. That is if she didn't snap and delve into Medical Kinjutsu to bring them back to the world of the living, was it wrong probably but she knew herself and what she would do for those she cared about.

Sure enough she would get home, slipping in in the dead of the night and placing her things in their proper places and washing away the evidence that she had been pushing herself to her limit. Healing away the bruises and slipping on her night clothes. She would walk to Omito's door and smile when she heard his snores and satisifed with that would make her way back to her room opening her door quietly so as not to wake up the sleeping Summer on the couch removing the do not disturb sign on her door as she unlocked it. Come morning just like usual she'd wake up, and join them for the team training hiding her weariness and aches from the previous morning, she'd sign up for a mission or maybe two and continue pushing. Pushing so she didn't get left behind, pushing so that she didn't have to feel as helpless as she did in that hospital room or in that stadium watching as two of the people she cared about the most in the world lay broken and battered before her.

C-rank: Limbo: Chakras
A-rank: Ghost Fire Release: Great Fire Destruction
***********************

Cherish was trying to learn how to best utilize her Bake in conjunction with her own skill set and so far it was a learning experience to say the least. First things first was that while it was comprised of her chakra it wasn't intangible and could be struck even if it was only visible to her and people who were capable of seeing chakra. Secondly it was capable of mimicking her movement wise her physical techniques and even her hand seals but whatever it did would come out differently because while it was like a copy of her it didn't use Ninjutsu. Thirdly, Bakejutsu was really powerful, initially she had just attempted to see the power difference between two of her techniques and her Bake's Ghost Water: Formation Wall was durable enough to repel several of her Water Dragon Bullet while likewise being strong enough to even sustain a blast from her Wooden Makara without yielding when her Bake used the full power version. It seemed while it bore some traits of water it was much different, after all it was far denser actually being something like jelly. Right now however she was doing another test, she got the feeling that there was more to the use of a Bake and it's Ghost elements after all she felt her connection to nature increase when her Bake first materialized.

She also got the thought of Anahata, if her Bake did have a name she would probably go with Cherish Anahata it just fit for some reason but it would be kind of silly naming something that was part of her. Still it's not as if she could name it Dokusei, as relations with her parents only got more strained when she left and started living with Omito. Not that it was a bad thing she didn't miss them especially when speaking to them only got her more hostility but she hadn't cared enough to keep pushing them even though she knew eventually rather than be ostracized she would just be kept on the fringe. It was no secret that she was close to Summer, who was a rising star in Dipu, even whispers among the shinobi elite were saying that Omito was doing quite well in the Dipugakure Hunter Corps. So even if they ignored her own achievements they couldn't doubt her teammates, so it was in their best interest to not disown her like they were threatening to do when she first moved out.

"Focus Cher, thinking about those cunts will just make you depressed again and it's dishonoring Nee-san." Cherish thought to herself with her Bake nodding as if to agree with her. They were once again testing out something as a scroll containing a particularly powerful fire technique was below her Bake who had been trying to create her own version of it. So far the attempts had gone pretty well but it was fine tuning it that Cherish was worrying about. To that end she would make hand seals before expelling a Great Drunken Exploding Colliding Wave while her Bake exhaled a flamethrower on top of it igniting the water technique in the vibrant blue flames. It was beautiful and on some level she felt relieved, sure her family had shunned her for her "unnatural" fire affinity but with this she felt vindication, who cares if she couldn't ever master the clans Kekkei Tota. Who cares if she had a Toxic Vapor deficiency it didn't matter because she was capable of doing a lot of things a normal Dokusei couldn't do. Her mastery of the water release was greater than all of the Zakiyoshi she had met in her life having eclipsed those within her clan long ago. Even her Earth Release was powerful, she had learned how to utilize the mud aspect and build on its use with her Syrup and Alcohol style in order to make what was usually for supplementary techniques into another aspect in her offensive and defensive repertoire. Even her clans vaulted Wood Release, she had improved upon by incorporating her hobby of growing drug related plants and made them even more deadly. Sure she might not be a saint, or even a paragon of the Dokusei clan but she didn't want to be, if her Nee-san was alive today she would be so proud of her not only had she lived up to her legacy but she was getting powerful enough to protect those precious to her.

Before the flames died down she would actually notice that as she was thinking she had actually kept pumping out chakra and would instead cut the flow of chakra before making hand seals and using some of the water which had yet to be engulfed in flames for some other techniques. Just like she had suspected by merely introducing some Ghost Fire to her techniques she was capable of setting them ablaze. She would quickly follow up with using a Nativity of a World of Trees and would notice that while the Nature Release technique was capable of draining some of the remaining water when it was set ablaze it's connection to Gaia was strengthened despite the wood eventually burning out. It was quite interesting as while initially she figured that fire was chaotic, dangerous almost to plant life her Bake's use of it was actually empowering her wood style albeit for a brief period. It was such a deep expression of life that she would actually find herself crying without realizing it, sure she was a pretty emotional person but when it came to nature she was even more so ever since she completed her travel to the Temple.

Eventually the flames would finish burning through all the available water and she would stop manipulating the wooden trees and allow everything to calm down and after sighing would plop to the ground. Right before she hit it her Bake would catch her and then kneel down so that her head was resting on her Bake's legs. To anyone looking at her it would be as if she were resting on nothing at all, without a single care while she sipped some sake from a straw.
